Cool thread.
Anyway, here is a low quality shot of my 5 string axe (well, now it is :P).

It's out of tune, the electronics are screwed up, and I snapped the high E string:ill:
Hopefully my dad will get me a Fender Strat for my graduation in 2 weeks.

Also...

Here's another crappy shot of my dad's 12 string Guild (11 now, 1 broke). He's probably going to sell it, which is a shame. Apart from the broken string and being a pain in the ass to tune, the guitar sounds magnificent.

ok, here goes. The ones I can get to... 6 strings first

Washburn RC-8V

Fender Contemporary Telecaster

my fave guitar - a Vester 'Les Paul' - ok, so a 'suspect' make, but so well made, and a great sounding guitar. Gibson pickups in it too

basses now....

Crafter 5 string (my current gig spare)

my BEAUTIFUL 1978 Gibson RD Artist - had this one a long time

Image014.jpg

and finally, my all-time favourite, my plum Spector Euro5LX. I now have a Spector endorsement, so will be getting more of these 👍

Nice axes man! I was planning on buying a guitar this year, I haven't played one in a long time. Don't know if I'll have the money though. :(

Should have posted this a while ago...

I finally got a replacement for my other guitar. It turns out I didn't buy a Strat and went for a faster action metal guitar. I bought an ESP Ltd Viper FM100. It's got great sound and a beautiful finish for a beginner $240 axe, and it's suprisingly good for playing Metallica.

And here's a stock shot from the ESP website in black (they didn't have it in red).

On another note, there are some really nice guitars in this thread:tup:

g.money - how do you like the Crafter? I tried one out a while back and it was one of the better basses I've ever played.

it's a great bass, but in hindsight I wish I'd bought one of the active models as the passive pickups are weak - though I very rarely touch it these days as unfortunately it really doesn't compare to the Spector (though as the Spector cost four times as much, not really surprising!) Also, the neck is very wide - definitely worth a look though, the build quality is flawless :) 👍

Right now i have no pics of my current guitar, (which is a black Dean Flying V). In my house we also have an Unnamed Electric, (no name no number sunburst.) as well there is a Hamer 12 string electric. we have a Gibson 67 EB0 bass. my mom has a maroon Fender Stevie Ray Vaughn 6 string.

i USED to have a Les Paul.

Yes it was an actual Gibson Les Paul. Gold on gold

1981%20LPS%20GT.jpg

HOWEVER Mine, had a gold head and the little beige piece was also gold. and cost 7k. i had to sell it because i had no home and i cant play that well. so i kinda.. well. it makes more sense to have a home than a guitar i guess.

As well i own a Mandolin, and a Banjo. Both Epiphone or however you spell it.

when i was in middle school before i moved, i played clarinet too. i was kinda forced into that i really wanted to play the trumpet or the sax but my mum played the clarinet so i had to too because i wanted to be in band. ugh.

i wish i'da stuck with it. when i moved the new school district was a year ahead of me. so i couldnt keep it up sadness

anyways ill post pics of my V lata

enjoy!

I've been neglectful :guilty:. The Ibanez was looking and sounding a bit tired today. After a wipe, wax, and polish, along with a shiny new set of 11's, she's as good as new :D:tup:.

This would be my little "studio"
thestudio.jpg

Squier Strat, Ibanez GRG170DX (I'm not sure if that's the official name or not, it's whats on the back of the headstock), BOSS DS-1 Fender Frontman 15G amp and Fender Rumble 15 bass amp. Not pictured is my Squier P bass. I didn't have a third stand at the time the shot was taken.

I can record from my amp directly into the sound card. Works well enough, just have to be careful not to blow out the card. Nothing worth recording, however, since I can't play much beyond power chords.

The next guitars I'd like to get would be an Explorer (and replace the pickups with EMGs and a ES355. Won't happen anytime soon, though.

Anyone have any opinions on the Yamaha Pacifica and Epiphone G-130 SG? I'm considering either of these two guitars, I prefer the looks of the SG but haven't played either. My brother owns a Epiphone so I know the quality is pretty good, but have no experience of a Yamaha. I was hoping you guys might have a pretty decent idea.

You would not go wrong with either guitar.

The Epiphone is likely less costly. I can't remember if the Pacifica is "chambered"...if not the Epi will be lighter.
Some folks say this impairs sound quality. But my rule of thumb is, if an electric guitar sounds good unplugged, it will sound good amplified, unless the pickups are total crap.

If that's the case, another hundred bucks will put an awesome set of Seymour Duncans in that axe.

I have a very old Tiesco that sounds pretty good unplugged. It has pick-ups that are "microphonic" (by design) and even though they tend to gather a lot of background noise, they sound pretty good.

It'll come down to what kind of music you intend to play with it. The SG is more of a rocker, the Pacifica tries to be more of a "Jack of all trades". If my memory serves the Pacifica has single coils and the SG has humbuckers.

The 'Buckers will be louder, and they will also not buzz in the presence of flourescent lights. If you get the SG with a "coil-tap" it will allow you to go single coil when you want to wail "strat-style", but you can go back to "les paul style" with a simple push of the coil tap knob.

Thanks for your reply, the Epiphone does cost slightly less I think the Yamaha is around £150 whilst the SG is at £139 so not much of a difference. As I said before I prefer the looks of the SG. Most of the music I would be playing would be more suited to the SG, mainly because most the bands I like have used SG's in their songs as for I haven't seen a Yamaha Pacifica in much of the music I like. To me it sounds as though I'm pretty set on the SG, the SG has the same (Well looks the same) pick-ups which my brothers Les Paul Special II have and they aren't too bad so I could live with them. I think the only thing I've got to decide on is colour, this could be hard. :indiff:

I have a Yamaha Pacifica and I gotta say, it hasnt let me down, its got 2 single pickups and a humbucker, nice to hold, nice to look at and great to play.
Here is a video of meplaying it, no effects:

p.s. im not very good:D

Cheers for showing me that, your not that bad at guitar! You must be atleast better than me, just out of intrest what tab are you using? The one I'm using (which is the same as the book seems different although it might be the fact I can't see the direct notes your playing. Anyway, thanks for giving me a good idea of what the guitar a) sounds like b) looks like.

Thanks

I currently have a Fender Stratocaster Standard (made in mexico) and a Squier Affinity Stratocaster (made in indonesia). I play on a Peavey Envoy 110 amp (1x10" speaker). I also have a guitar and amp that a friend lent me. It's a PRS Tremonti SE (Les Paul body w/ 2 humbuckers), and a Roland Cube 30X (also a 10" speaker).

I have been playing for a few months now (about 5 or so). I started after I played through the Dragonforce song in Guitar Hero and figured may as well start real guitar. See here -> https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showpost.php?p=3095039&postcount=273

That rig is in fracking awesome condition for a 43 year old guitar!

Thanks. If you look at it closely it has some wear marks and such, including some belt buckle rash on the back. but overall its in great shape. and the little nicks and such that are there just add character to it. It is a wonderful guitar to play and I used to gig with it regularly. Its a players guitar and thats what I have done, played it.

Whats your tips for cleaning a guitar, my SG is starting to look a little mucky (finger prints and all that) especially on the pick plate or whatever it's called and dusty under the strings. So how should I go about cleaning it?

Oh, also I need to actually show my guitar. I'm really pleased with it, for the price it costed (only £129.99 compared to GAK's price of £140.00) it's fantastic. I'm so pleased I went with it, I mean no offense to Pacifica users at all but it just didn't seem the guitar for me. The guitar is being used quite frequently, I'm talking every night for atleast an hour most the time more, so its definately being played. Downsides? Well, the only downside was my fault anyway on the bottom of the guitars body theres a chip in it, I was devastated to find it I hope I can get it fixed.

bro hell yeh AHAHAH what a diss to Guitar Hero. I CANNOT BELIEVE someone posted that garbage on the first page, dude, this thread is for the REAL SHREDDERS

I should have a pic of my gear somewhere on the photobucket, I've been jamming one guitar all this time I love my black Jackson with Seymour Duncan distortion. It's 6 string unfortunately so I downtune quite a lot, still trying to see when I can get a hold of an 8 string !! l0l0l VIVA METAL

It isn't too bad. Quite a nice entry level guitar. Feels great sounds above average with the right setup.

I am going to put in a humbucker in the bridge to give it a bit more OOMPH!! :D
