Head2Head Competition wk60 - Closed

Well people, move along, the Lotus side just got killed; there is still the TVR side…, even though NTX entry is pretty, good (hmmmm, reflections).

Ladies and gentlemen... Congratulations to Bram, who just obliterated the opposition!

Very nice work Bram, the soft focus effect and the colour matching is sublime! Great cleanup, too.

However, the Lotus side isn't dead yet....

well crap..Lotus side is clearly down to Bram and mog! Nice nice shots guys.

But mog...that is re-donk-ulous :D

Fantastic looking shot, Moglet! The car's colour is in perfect armony with the whole scenery and the motion blur is excellent! 👍 There's a bit of imperfection on the right headlight, or the left one, if you were inside the car. Nothing to worry about, of course :D

Moglet, that is perfect in so many ways! 👍 I think you won't be breaking a sweat during the polls, I can't understand how my shot would come even close to yours! I spot some black spots in your background sky though, what are they?

Have you tried dodging parts other than panel gaps to give it more depth? You could try to run some dodge on parts on or around the lights to give them a less 2D effect, it's pretty neat if you can pull it off. It's pretty obvious that I didn't in my entry

Not sure what you mean by the black spots, I can't see any...
I've had a play about with the headlights now though 👍

I don't see them either  Unless he is talking about the last part of the cloud from right to left, where there are a few little spots.

It's probably a matter of sceen contrasts, but with greater contrasts the spot really come through. It still remains a killer shot though 👍

I still can't see any even though you've circled them, so I think I'll leave them. Just imagine they're specks of dust on the camera lens or something ;)

Excellent entry, Moglet.. The car's colour and the background colours are like one.. Wooow.. So clean, shiny and sharp.. Such a great shot of an Elise.. This is so damn rare! Well done, mate!

Wow, some awesome entries so far! 👍

EDIT: Yeah, I've joined in too. Thanks for the heads up, LdS!

Man Bram, you must have your contrast up pretty high. I only see those spots when I put my contrast way up.

However, it also looks like something was there before. A building or something? It looks like it was clone stamped out. Theres an odd line that extends up from the object above the mirror and fence. Theres a slight color difference in the clouds on either side of that line too. Anyone else see it?

Yes, I can see that, too.. But what is it  .. It could very well be a building..

He may have clone stamped out the timing box at the start/finish line, but let's wait for Moglet to have us better informed on this fact.

The H2H comp follows the old 2.0 rules, I hope everyone understands that. It'd really suck to have a confusement and discussion on the rules again, the re-start of the comp has had enough discussion already:indiff:

I didn't know the rules for this used the old rules. A bit confusing...:indiff:
cccl has adopted new rules. I am not saying or pushing that it should but it seems easier to.

Not at all. The old 2.0 didn't use Gradients, while this uses. The Head 2 Head has a similar approach to the Drift competition. It is wrong to say that the Drift competition has PMC rules, since you can change the Hue and Saturation levels, while in real PMC you can't do that.

Though it is less confusing for competitions to use standard rules (Unedited, PMC, 2.0 and Free Edition), it is normal that they alter one thing or another, or find that they would better restrain or allow one or two more adjustments.

Nothing has been cloned out there, you can check the track for yourselves, but there is a line in the clouds that can be found on a lot of tracks, it appears to be where the cloud image wraps round on itself. It's especially noticable in photo travel locations.

I've no idea what the black spots are though, as you can see in this area of the original shot with the contrast raised, there are hundreds of them around the clouds! I've also highlighted the cloud wrap line;

But as you can see, to get this effect and see the spots I had to raise the contrast to ridiculous levels that would be unusable as a normal viewing amount! What monitor do you have, Bram? I'm using an iMac and can barely see them...

It's a laptop I'm using. They are not very visible, but I did spotted them from the first moment I saw your entry...

On that, Moglet's entry got a green flag 👍

The reason I'm letting this competition stick to the old 2.0 rules is to avoid confusing moments. But I'm letting this open for discussion:

Do you guys think the H2H competition should also make its move to the new rules? Or shall we stick to the old ones to avoid confusing moments?

Believe me, I did think about cloning out that Bridgestone sign when I saw how it affected my blur, but that would have been against the rules so just had to work around it!

As for the new rules, I think we should convert to the new 2.0 rules. Everyone will be making the switch anyway so it's easier for it to be used in several contests as there are less rules to remember.

I think we should adjust all the rules all across the board. Gonna change the rules in the drift comp to match those of PMC.
Thanks for clearing it up moglet! It just looked a bit odd with the radial blur and the cloud lines blah blah blah. Thanks for posting the original too.

agreed. make it all new.

Moglet: I can see those weird spots and textures in the clouds on my old-as-Methuselah CRT.

David David David...kudos man. I think the road could've used some texture via noise...but overall, pretty good. Did you get PS yet? Or still using gimp.

I'm seeing alot of elise, but entirely too little spirit here...

gonna change that.

No idea if it's legal or not (what rules are we using again? i used the new ones) but for right now,

FINAL ENTRY!

it's not like i have a snowball's chance in hell against the likes of Mog or Bram anyway, but if it's not allowed, it's headin to mah gallery nonetheless. and i sure hope SOMEONE got my pun.

I think Bram's is better than Moglet's. They are both a wet fish to the face, but I just can't get my head around a partially motion blured cloud (well at least I think it is) in Moglet's, and Bram's has an instant impact on me, probably down to the angle and colour pallete.

David - there's a point in entering because you do it for fun, if you don't want to do one, by all means stop. There is is good reason for you to be in this competition because A - You are a valued member of the GT4 Photomode clan, and B. Because it is a good shot in the first place. I love the angle which makes it look fast and the blurring which brings the car out more. 👍:)

Tupac - Yeah man, yeah. I like it:sly:

If this is open on the weekend, I might try and get something in, and sinse I don't want to be directly up against all these great shots, I'll opt for the TVR
