I'll help if needed, I am a steward in the WGT1 and have hosted a few races when the boss has been away.
Right now I'm not pointing the finger at anyone because I haven't seen the replay to back it up, but in the few races I've attended I did pick up on a few things.
Like I said in one of my previous posts, there seems to be a do or die attitude. Whether its an age thing, I'm not sure. But there just doesn't seem to be enough spatial awareness or racecraft. People need to know when you should just concede the corner or when to defend.
Take Tokyo for example. The high speed chicane is single file, if you want to go 2 wide through there expect an accident. The first corner though, has plenty of room for 2 cars.
The issue with cars fighting, is it slows you down. Meaning more cars turn up and soon you have a 3 or 4 way battle, the cars at the back need to be ready to pounce, but that doesn't mean you can just come steaming in and expect the lead cars to make room for you. A little bit of patience is needed.
The other thing, some people were trying to overtake at every corner, which only cost them time. There's no point making a half-hearted attempt to pass, you either make the pass or pull back in behind and try again elsewhere.
I proved that you can win from behind, you just have to pick your fights to maximise your lap times not focus on position.
You could be in the lead and fight to the death to hold the car behind up, costing you 4 seconds a lap, by which point 4 cars are behind you and then costing more time, and inevitably loose 3 places. Or you could let 2nd go, and stick with him, might cost you a second or two, but you've only lost the 1 place not 3.
The nature of the recent street circuits haven't helped, as they always induce incidents.
Anyway, rant over! Would be a shame to see this fall through this late in the season.
