Does the Ultima still hold the 0-100-0 record? I know it recently took it from Caterham.

By the way, welcome to all the new guys; happy racing. 👍

Alright then - for you super car fans...

I've got free tickets 2 the indy at PPIR in two weeks. If I drag my sorry butt out of be early enough I get garage/infield access - I'll post what pics I can ;) I won't get 2 drive them, but I'll be --> <-- that close!

Yes it does. 9.8 seconds it does it in.

De Bolle here.
I'm Dutch, living together with my girlfriend and our little boy of almost 2 years (he's getting crazy about cars already..) in a small town about half an hours drive from Zandvoort.

Mad about motorsports (F1, MotoGP, DTM, WRC, endurance).

First racing game ever played: Atari's Pole Position.

Bought a Playstation to play Formula One 97, bought a PS2 to play GT3.

Favourite PC racing games over the years: Papyrus' Indy Car Racing II, the Nascar series and Grand Prix Legends. Nowadays I still race a bit of F1 Challenge online, as well as GTR (looking forward to GT Legends!).

Looking forward to some close battles in the WRS!

Well, I guess I've put this off for too long....Hi, my name is Jason, 34 years old. I live in Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA with my pregnant wife (due in Dec.) and my 19 month old daughter. During the day, I manage commercial construction projects. I spent alot of time playing GT3, but wasn't involved in online racing until GT4. The only other PS2 game I play is Tiger Woods Golf. These days the only real sport I play is Disc Golf. Due to my occupation, I race a full size Chevy truck around the streets of North Carolina daily:)

Hi I'm Bert Van Waes, 22 yrs old.
Live in Belgium.
Study Animation film at art academics KASK in Gent.

I'm a huge carfanatic. It lines up at the same spot with my love for drawing. I played GT since the day my friend bought him the first PSone in our neighbourhood. Since then I'm hooked to it. It probably was also the cause of my carlove. Hehe. I now follow Formula one since like the first time Mika took the top spot at the ranking table. Now I'm still the most hooked on Mclaren-Mercedes. I also follow the WRC and the local GT championship. I love the 24hrs of Spa, were i went already for 3 yrs in a row now. Love the track and i think it's a shame the Japanese dudes didn't.

Anyway, I now still like to play this game and started it all over again. And to celebrate that i thought i would qualify for the WRS. And i did. :)

I'm placed in division 3 with a qualifying time around the middle of the group.
From now on I'll try to race along with you guys. Here's a pic of me my girl took a couple of months ago. My car can be found in my sig.

Indy Car II - *FINALLY* anothe fan. FYI - Did you do Michigan? Did you beat Andretti's record? I spent most of my time in that game trying to do just that, and finally did, by like 10MPH (average lap speed) got it up to 141 or 142 if I recall correctly.

And Grand Prix legends - that was a *hard* game - didn't play it much, just at my buddies...

ICR2 had the best intro ever: "I'm Paul Page, from Papyrus, THIS is Indycar Racing II" 👍
I did not beat the oval records, as you would expect from an European I did not race ovals much :). I loved the other tracks though, especially Cleveland, Portland and Vancouver.
Did you know that it's possible to convert ICR2 tracks to GPL? Imagine racing the Eagle at Laguna Seca, woohooo!!
I tried to install ICR2 on my PC the other day. It would'n't run, probably due to XP..... :yuck:

Hi I’m Ronny, aka goixoye.

Goixoye = go ixoye. Ixoye is the greek word for fish which is an early christian anacronym for “Jesus Christ God’s Son Savior”. The fish symbol (which you see on everybody’s car) was kind of a secret handshake so early christians could tell who the other christians were. With all the persecution of early christians it was important to know. Goixoye=go ixoye=go Jesus. So much for my user name.

I’m 41. Wife, 2 Sons (15 and 11 Yikes!!! I'm OLD)

I own a red 2003 Ford Focus SVT with about 3,000 miles. I bought it new. My daily driver is a 2003 Subaru Impreza TS Wagon. Don’t laugh it has 165HP compared to the SVT’s 170HP. Not a WRX STI by any means but not bad in the “bang for the buck” category. Believe it or not but the SVT cost less than the Impreza! My wife drives a Saturn VUE which I'm not allowed to drive because I like to drive it on the edge of disaster. I think the Saturn has about 160HP? Don't tell my wife that I KNOW her car will go 100mph.

I live in Roanoke, VA right next to the Blue Ridge Parkway – a fun, twisty, scenic piece of road.

I’ve been playing video games for about 2 ½ years (I started with NFS Porsche Unleashed on PC) and quickly got a PS2. I only play racing games. My favotites are GT3, GT4, Enthusia and TOCA Race Driver 2 (I especially like the V8 Supercar series…to bad I can’t watch the real races here in the US).

I realized there was a “dead” unaccessible space under the stairs to the basement so I cut in an access door and use the space as my racing cockpit. It’s perfect…it’s my quiet, private haven (or heaven whichever you want to say). I bought a used Saab seat from a junkyard (it’s in really great shape). I use a DFP.

My kids ask me what my favorite video game car is…That’s a hard question. If the geniuses at PD had put a Focus SVT in the game it would be a clear winner aside from that maybe the Caterham??? It is so tricky to drive. Has it been featured in the WRS yet?

Things that would make me like GT even more:
1) a red 2003 Ford Focus SVT in the game.
2) Better car appearance options…paint color, ground effects, etc…llike most of the street racing games (NFSU, NFSU2, Juiced, SRS)
3) Allow you to create your own championship. Choose tracks, # of laps, set restraints on the competitors (car types, HP, wt, tires etc…I never know what GT’s AI is running). TOCA allows this to a certain extent

GT4 - 93.7%. I will probably never get 100%. I haven't tried Mission 34 in a while but I don't see myself ever completing it. I think the closest I've been is about 27 secs. I'm not real sure I'll be able to finsih some of the harder Special Conditions events either....I hate the rally stuff.

Woah! What's this game that you can race at Portland? I'd love to act like I'm taking a racecar around my local track... Get me used to it for when I get to take a RL car out on it... So Indycar Racing II? PS2 game? Or something else?

Hey everyone, I'm Mike, 33 years old and love the GT Series.

I started playing at a friends house when GT1 was out and bought my first PS1 when GT2 came out. It got old after a while so I sold it, Then GT3 comes out ond PS2 so I have to go and buy a new set up so I can play. Once again I out grew the game and sold everything. The series is so great, I went and bought another PS2 so I could play GT4!!!

I've been lurking around here checking out some drift settings. I learned that it's more driver than the settings that do the trick. The only drifting I ever did before GT4 was driving the Vipers cause they were so hard to control and I could usually win races cause I could hang it out there without ending up in reverse.

I have a BMW M3 '04 that is pretty fun for drifting. I actually won 176 A-Spec points with my drift set up in one race. Just when I thought GT4 had nothing more to offer, I discovered the N3 Tires. Be happy to post some lap times and race info if anyone is intersted. I'm gonna post the info the 200 point thread I seen. Now if I can just find that one again (This place is huge!!).

Anyways searching the threads, I could help but notice this link:

Interview with GTP Owner/Operator on RadioITG

As I was playing GT4 and listening to the interview for the second time. (hey I wasn't paying attention the first time) I heard them mention the WRS and off I went to seach and finally ended up at this thread introducing myself as a GT Racer about to qualify. I'm gonna check out the qualifier tomorrow and see what division I end up in.

Alrighty then, See you on race day!! And thanks to all who support gtplanet.net

hi i'm Rov aka ohjel. 29 years old. i'm from Malaysia. start WRS on week 16. currently in Division 2 WRS using the PS2 standard controller. at last i have found this heaven called gtplanet. Love the environment here. still struggling to get a good result on Cita di aria.

Regarding the latest few entries form our NEW colleagues here at the WRS:

Thanks for taking the time and introduce yourself! It is nice to see you took the time to tell us about your life, where you are from and what you like about racing.
This is for sure contributing to the very good atmosphere and relationships you generally find within the WRS.
You will see that it takes no time to get close to fellow racers (not only time wise...) and become a better driver due to the hints and tips you get from them. Some of our fastest guys write their own write ups, with many many useful details (set-ups, racing lines they prefer, etc), and they are not afraid that others close the gap towards them....SO its a really cool league we have here and you are a part of it now!

Welcome again and great racing to you all!

Hey fellow WRS members!

My name's Ryan but you guys can call me Rad or Radicalry00, I don't mind.

I'm 17 years old and I live in Yorkshire, UK.

I've only just joined WRS and and currently I'm in D3 (Even though I thought my time was unbeatable, how wrong was I? LOL)

My favorite track is Circuit Le Sarthe I & II
My favorite Car: BMW M5/SLR Mclaren

I've been playing the GT series since GT2 and I've always loved it. I've finally decided to get involved with the WRS because I want to compete against other fellow gamers/car fans like yourselves. I love motorsports especially F1.
Even though I'm not really that good of a driver yet...at least when compared to some of you guys, I hope to become a good race driver.

Thanks for hearing me out and I'll look forward to competing against you all.
Rad :)

Hey my name is Brian. I joined during week 17, but week 18 is the first week that I had time to race due to the fact that I got a new truck and been playing with it instead of racing :) . I'm in Div. 3 and use the standard controler.

Looks like we've got another fan ;)

Ya know there was also a patch to import/tranlate NASCAR tracks between ICRII and GPL (and vice/versa) - taking an IndyCar around Taledega was a *blast*!

I agree, I've already had a few members suddenly pop-up in IM looking to chat - how surprised was I!

Welcome to all the new members, glad to see the ranks swelling (hehe, I said swelling) - wouldn't mind seeing 150 people submit times in Div 3 and make for a real scramble for the top spot...

Good afternoon everybody, here's a little bit about myself. I'm Colin, 19, recently moved to Mankato, MN. I drive a 1993 Toyota Camry V6 :yuck: but I love them German cars. I participate in Solo2 around Minnesota and Wisconsin, currently 2nd in GS locally (that's not saying much, though). I got GT3 for my first PS2 game a few years ago, bought GT4 the day it came out. I just sent in my qualifier today, so I don't know which WRS division I'll be in yet. I've tried to organize a few of these weekly races on a Toyota board, and they just fall apart, so I'm glad I found one that's going strong with lots of participants. Looking forward to racing with you guys.

Glad to see another one joining.

Your post is testament to the hard work and effort that cfm and kent put into this series, and im sure you will appreciate their work even more so if youve tried and failed to organise these things in the past.

Good luck!
👍

Welcome aboard!

I'd mentioned WRS to someone who's at 100%/80golds/yadda yadda and thought it might have been them that joined, but it's someone else entirely...

Congrats on Div 2 and good luck - you'll find yourself rather addicted to WRS and the time you asked about spending on the game in the Week 20 thread will be, I think you will find, more than you had before. Shaving those N'ths of a second off your T times will drive you insane!

Prepare yourself accordingly...

Thanks for the warm welcome and tips Ursa! Will try my best with the time Ive got to race on GT! Cheers

A little bit about myself 👍

Im 19, living in the wonderful city of SYDNEY!! :)
Studying full time at university (some finance degree), Almost near mid-semester now.. so its starting to get a bit stressful! Enough about study! onto GT!!!
Been playing since GT3 went platinum, ummm... I was off of GT3 for about 6 months, because I lost everything due to auto-save :yuck: and decided to give it a break! Now its been almost 4 or 5 weeks into GT4 (I know Im slow... GT4 has been out for a while) trying to squeeze in a few hours here and there or whenever I can afford to!!

Cheers! :)

Hello,

My name is Fernando, and I'm 34. I live in Taguatinga, a city near Brasilia, the capital of Brazil. I'm a big fan of racing games, although never dedicated much time in only one game. GT4 is the first I'm trying to be a better racer...
Thanks to the GTPlanet members, tips and the WRS I'm greatly improving my driving skills.
I'm in D3, driving with a Driving Force Pro.
