High School

I believed I talked about this somewhere in the thread that my school has a rule now that you cannot wear or use headphones but you can use earbuds. I found out this rule does not apply after school last Monday. I'm listening to my music waiting for our first home basketball game of the season to start with my headphones on. The VP (the same one that took the headphones earlier in the year) looks at me with a death stare. She took one step towards me and then stopped and asked the other principals if I was allowed to have the headphones. I heard them say "Some rules do not apply after school and that is one of them". I chuckled when they said that and as I looked around I saw 4 pairs of Beats by Dre headphones come out of bags from the other players who were afraid that they would have taken their headphones.

^My school just adopted a "no headphones or earbuds period" rule. Its justified for us (this time) because 90% of the non-core classes were pretty much ignored by 70% of the students because of them being allowed. That and Minecraft. (my school gave us all Macbooks :P)

In general, I've been dreading high-school since middle school, but truth be told, I had a better 9th grade year than all of middle school combined. 10th grade started out kinda bad, but things have improved for me lately :) I've managed to overcome most of my social anxieties in the last few months (which really started wayy back in the tail end of 8th grade, when I grew tired of being a hikkikomori; being one wasn't my choice though, it was circumstances), but I'm still practically invisible to many students, (this is a good thing because I really just want to be left alone by all the jerks) but not apparently to teachers or colleges. I was contacted by 8 colleges last week :D I guess my PLAN (an ACT predictor) scores were quite high.

The best thing from my school is this:

I could just look out the window and stare at it as much as I want. Never gets old.

What did you make on your PLAN? I made a (I don't have the score right around me) 140 something. Me and 3 other of the five tenth graders chosen made higher than almost all of the eleventh grader that took it which I thought was hilarious.

My school still hasn't given out the scores yet, which is  and :irked:

A student got caught skipping my 2nd period Drafting class, and got written-up on the spot, which was one of three write-ups that day.

Going to have a second consecutive snowday tomorrow.
We had off Tuesday, but it was no warmer today than yesterday, but all we got was a 2 hour delay. My district is notorious for not calling a delay or cancellation when they have every excuse to do so.

School has been out all week during state exams due to insanely cold temps. That does not happen here at all...we go to school with 4 feet of snow...you know it's got to be cold...

It was in the negatives down here as well, but the worst we had was being told that if ride the bus to school, make sure you stay in the house until the bus arrives.

It has been consistently hitting -40 (WC) here all week. There are a lot of village kids that have to walk to school, since the buses get too full. That was the real deciding factor.

I guess this is a perk of living in the south. All we got here was about two inches. Heck, schools delay even if there is a slight chance of it snowing overnight. Unfortunately, have to make it up later in the year, but at least I'm using this to catch up on schoolwork I've fallen behind on.

It's the same here as far as making it up, or they take it from various vacations.

But yeah, 2 inches here is a dusting, if that. Doesn't even phase anyone.

I just had a cool memory hit me when I was reading about the Sochi Olympics the other day: In my first year of highschool the Vancouver Olympics were almost ready to begin and I was writing a science test, I was 100% focused. I decided to look out the window for just a second and an F-18 with afterburners flew directly above my class room. I was on the top floor of the school with a killer view and I watched the thing fly at crazy speed for a few moments until it became smaller and smaller and vanished into the distance. After which I completely forgot about the test and was completely distracted.

I am so pissed off at my school right now that I may just quit. They decided to screw over all the students today because of a stupid basketball game. A school should not be focused on athletics at all.

Yeah, my school is quite the same with the dress code. Many of classmates really don't give a crap about the dress code. The principle, & assistant principles really should be focussing more on the education, less on the :censored:in dress code.

Some schools have to in order to generate revenue. My old high school made tons of revenue not just for the school itself, but also school organizations and clubs would sell concessions in order to fund themselves. Our chorus, band, golf team, tennis team, SGA, and others all used the football, basketball, and baseball games to fund itself. School stops doing stuff like that and the ripple effect will wipe out more than you think

@M0NSTER97 I totally agree with that

But considering they didn't let anyone go past the gym, which is along the main hallway, was very inconvenient, and that they closed half of the already small parking lot, making pickup and getting off campus more dangerous, for stuff like food trucks, it's so damn annoying that people like me, who hate basketball, have to deal with this stuff. And, I know that this is going to sound terrible but whatever, I don't care that the games were for breast cancer awareness. I just don't want sports to be so major as they are.

Got my exam marks back... dropped 4% in physics to an 85%. Its so stressful too, and I feel guilty and just plain 🤬 I need at least a 90% average and I'm barely meeting it. Its literally once bad move/test and my university dreams can go down the toilet. I have no clue what to do.. anyone?

Can't help you there. I am the absolute worst at math. I need at least a 90 to keep my 4.0 and I have a 85 in there right now but what i suggest to you is just try and stay after class and see if the teacher will help explain it to you or just study more.

Well, I may be in trouble tomorrow. I had to skip two of my classes today because there was just no way I could have dealt with the stress those classes make me feel. Sure, the dean of students knew where I was and allowed me to be where I was so she probably told my teachers what had happened, but the teacher of one of the classes hates me a lot so he may not of listened to her, and the other I have another of her classes later in the day, and she didn't seem mad, so I may be okay with her about it.
