High School

my 2 weeks of school holidays started on Monday and I did my TAFE workplacement at my local mechanics place.
Still have 1 week to go.

Had to do an aptitude test for Interior Design and then write a one page reflection of the test. I was an overachiever and decided to type it out :D

I'm currently in my Junior year, grade 11.

In my English class, we're making a project for The Crucible. There's a kid who's making a computer game based on the book for his project. How awesome is that? I wish I had the programming capabilities... and were willing to dish out money to buy a game development program.

Geometry is a pain in the butt, but if I want to be an engineer I'm going to have to study more. The past couple of years I took Integrated Algebra I and II which look like crap on an application for a technical college, so I'm challenging myself. I'm also taking Trigonometry next semester and may switch German III out for Algebra III or another core mathematics course if there is one available.

Have you started doing proofs in Geometry yet? Those were always fun.....not.

Wish I could take another foreign language that was not English or French in high school (English were just the basics and I'm not interested in learning French)

Also, I took German last semester and I'm taking it next semester. But that's for another thread.

Wasn't sure if take it at first but now I can't wait to sign up for German II :D

No. But by the way you interpret it, I guess it's not pretty. :scared:
Here's an example:

In my school, we have Japanese as our foreign language subject.

Next year is going to be a bit tough to decide on what subject to drop since in Year 12, you can drop a subject. However, you must keep English since that is mandatory and I want to keep Maths and Japanese but that leaves me to pick from Drama, IT: Multimedia and Ancient History to drop. I originally though of Drama since it was meant to be a "filler" subject but I started to really enjoy it.

Here's an example:

I remember doing that back in year 10. I've actually found Geometry to be one of the easier math topics, Income, Taxes and all that Money stuff was always to biggest pain in Maths for me.

Actually, I'm sure that was the very first thing I did when I switched from Integrated Geometry to core Geometry.

Not fun at all, but I'm glad it's over with now. I won't say the rest of the course will be a cakewalk because then I'd just be jinxing myself. :dopey:

In Victoria at least, we get to use our calculators for everything in Business Maths. It makes it heaps easier. I'm actually doing Business Maths as a Year 12 subject this year, so I don't have to drop anything for next year. I'm doing it as a backup subject, in case I do badly in my other Maths subject.

We get to use Calculators too, but I've always found it difficult to interrupt questions like those as they usually come in sentences. What makes subjects like Geometry easier for me, is that they mainly use Pictures for their questions which makes them easier to interrupt

My final 4 terms of School begin soon and I am actually pretty nervous with my subjects. They are all going to come with something difficult which I can only barely do last years big assignments. In Multimedia, you have the Major Multimedia Project, Drama has the Solo Performance and Group Performance, Ancient History has 3 Essays to do and then Japanese is, well, Japanese. :P I'm going to drop to lowest Maths class only available in Year 12 because I struggled real bad with the Maths Exam and its 🤬 difficulty spike.

For me, I start Yr. 12 tomorrow, just a bit nervous. It just hit me, I start the last year of school for the rest of my life tomorrow ;) .
I work in my school's canteen every day at the second half of lunch.
the only reason that I'm completing year 12 is so that I could keep my school computer. :)

First class back, and I already miss out on an excursion note :(

Well, I forgot to post here last month.

Yeah. I started my Freshman year.

It's not fun.

I hate AP World History. It's not hard, just a buttload of work. I like my teacher, though, as she's really funny. And vulgar, but funny.

There were 2 books I had to read over the summer for Honor English; I'd forgotten everything about the one I need to write an essay on. If you know Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck, please help.

My Geometry teacher doesn't really teach.

Chem is fun, I guess.

I'm back from my first day of Year 12.

As I expected, I failed badly on my Maths Exam but I can't blame anyone for that but the actual test, it is a huge chunk of really, really hard questions no one was prepared for, as all the Maths questions we ever done beforehand were much more easier and straightforward. Very few people got past 60%.

In Drama we got our assignment on Verbatim Theatre which is a group performance. I actually like the group performances because it gets us to work with people we don't really know or try to hang out. We also got our notice for our IP which we have to do throughout the entire year on our own time. We can choose Multiple things but I decided to go with Scriptwriting as I've always had a fascination of Writing in general.

My school yearbook cover design entry. It looks a bit lousy because this photo was taken before the final layer of color was added and it hasn't been smoothed out yet either.

Of course I had to incorporate the greatest U.S. racecar (in my opinion), "Old 16" on the cover. Which works out great considering we are the class of 2016. Although I switched the body color to blue and gave it white wall tires in order to incorporate the school colors.

Also if you look closely at the building's clock, you will notice it is set at 1:55 which is when school is over.

My cover won so I get a free yearbook.

So it's been about a month of being a freshman.
Now for the story :D

So it's the first day of school, I wake up and get ready. Now when I get on the bus it's not as rowdy as the middle school bus since High Schoolers are much more mature than I expected. Once we got to school than it was some festival. I waited for my friends bus to come and then we hung out. Once we got in our homeroom we chilled for a while and then our homeroom teacher was the funniest guy on Earth  Then came the worst part. Our Lockers. You have to grip them and then pull. Being from middle school I always expect a latch to pull but nope we have to pull it open. I got it on the third try. Now we put our books in and then we got back in our seats which were assigned to us. Being an Ahmed we're in the back and so was my Ahmed family friend. She sits behind me no matter what because M comes before N. We talked for a while and then the bell rang. She didn't have anyone to go to the second floor with so I took her with me, and my friend came along too since we had Spanish together. We probably circled the school twice before finding the stairs and then I sent her off to her class and my friend and I did a circle around the second floor and found our class. Then gym was just boring so I sat quiet in the bleachers for an hour and a half then Lunch was hell since I didn't know who was in my lunch and who wasn't. I found out family friends sister was in my lunch......and I made eye contact with her. Great, now I gotta avoid a Senior for a while. Then I went to third block after lunch and it was okay and fourth block was okay also. Over all after a month, I've made new friends and I've learned the school now and also I can open my locker with ease. But I gotta practice running the mile for gym though. Awesome start to Freshman year though.
Some side effects were: Stepping on my Pop history teachers foot when leaving school, Embarrassing my self by calling my self out for no reason, and getting my locker stuck also saying Yo Chill to in Pop History and getting yelled at for it. In Spanish class, let me say it's my first favorite class since my teacher and I get along. Plus we all joke. Same with World History II, our class is the most sarcastic class and she loves us. But I'm screwed second semester since I have Algebra I S and L/A R which is the reason I feel a bit anxious. Any advice for second semester? But thanks and yah this was long but I know Frz was waiting patiently for this. So here you go my fellow High Schoolers!

I thought the mile starts all the way back in 7th grade?

What do the 'S' and 'R' represent? (And I assume that L/A is language arts, correct?)
The mile never existed for me till now and S and R track are....
What are “programs” all about?
One of the major decisions you will have to make, regardless of the subject you
pick, is the program level of that subject. The word “program” is used to describe
different sections of the same course that are made up of students who share
certain types of plans or a pattern of strengths.
The “(AP)” courses are geared towards the advanced placement examination of
the College Entrance Examination Board which is given in May of each year.
The “C” program courses are taught at a college ability level. The textbooks
used in these courses are of college level and develop critical thinking skills
necessary for successfully completing college course work.
The “Honors” program is to meet the needs of students who have consistently
demonstrated strong reading, writing and thinking skills.
The “R” track is the advanced program
The “S” track is designed for college prep.

@Smurfybug Training for the mile, huh? I'm no runner, but I got it done in nine minutes, forty three seconds; my quickest time yet.

If you need a few pointers, I know a guy...

Oh, @wvmgmidget! Assistance needed in the running department!

Joking, of course. Trust me, Freshman year is a pretty big step, and it's pretty scary when you're first starting out, but once you get the jist of high school, it's a really great time! Coming from a senior, this year so far has been probably one of the happiest times I've ever had in school, except for the Senior Project, but that's a long post for another day!

Nice copy/paste. :P

Good luck.
Less than a week till PSATs. Fun, right? :ill:
Junior year is when it counts. Taking it sophomore year is still good practice though.
