High School

No. It's actually noisier at the front with the Yr7s arguing and shouting, plus playing stupid high pitched noises on their phones...

Hmmm, that's strange. It only makes me happy that only about 8 - 10 people catch my bus. I'm the only male in my year group who catches it. And my bus is free. :D

You must feel so cool sitting at the back where the ride is bumpier, the noise is louder and the people are ****tier. I don't see the point of going down the back of the bus. It makes you look like a wannabe, and means there is a longer walk to the front to get off again (my bus only has a door at the front).

Screw the bus! I drive to school in my car, where the ride is nice and smooth, the music loud and the seats comfy. :sly:

Screw the car :P Bike is the cheapest way to school for me, free exercise, only takes 12 minutes, and is 3 times quicker than the bus and quicker than a car ! Though the seat ain't comfy is your not used to it ...

One word: Rain.
I like to drive to school, blasting the beats and picking up friends.

Lol, I thought that you meant a motorcycle.

Nope, that costs money to fuel and run, which is something I don't have much of, and walking takes almost an hour, hence cycling is the best option.

Bopop4
Yeah, I was thinking that a 12 minute motorcycle ride in the rain would leave you completely and utterly soaked.

Well, that's true. I get slightly wet legs but everything else is dry. Cycling in the rain isn't so bad, just cars forget you exist ! It's a lot of uphill though, so I wear a spare shirt ..

We've learned to check fluids, change tires (which was the source of my embarassment today), seperate rims and tires, balance tires, measure brake rotor thickness, how to weld, use a torch, use a plasma cutter, drills, saws, tools, and probably much more that I've forgot. Plus the year isn't yet over.

I've taken my shop for 3 yrs and boy have we learned a lot. First of all I have a notch certificate which is nice. I've changed head gaskets, engines, tons of wheel bearings and brakes of all varieties, timing chains, axle seals and I've even solved a massive vacuum problem on a Toyota 3.0. There are more vacuum lines on there than I ever thought possible.

This, I am much quicker on my bike than a car or bus.

I don't know about you but I have trouble getting a bicycle up to 45 mph. I hate people that bike on heavily trafficked roads. This one dude was stopped in the middle of the road in front of a stop sign checking his heart rate monitor thing i guess. Just standing there. I had to give him an earful of nissan altima:lol:

I hardly get up to 15 mph but I just go down the backstreet's while the cars and buses are stuck in traffic.

I live 3 miles from school, and all of that is busy roads, with school traffic, so no one ever gets above 25, so I can blend in reasonable well. Living in a city cycling makes a lot of sense.

This was only my first year and it's only for 12 weeks.

Always walked to school, mainly because it's only a mile away. The only exercise I get apart from P.E or randomly jumping round woods

You need to get your gearing right to get it to such speeds... You want a low resistance level when starting off, and then when you get to speed, change the gears so it is harder to spin the pedals faster... Fastest I've ever been is about 20 mph or so... haven't really timed myself though.

You should be able to get at least 30mph out of a bike for a short while.
A proper racing bike and you could do that for a while.

I've been up to 35 going down a slightly steep hill on a standard bike. My 18 speed I've been up to 55 going down a hill. I could probably get faster but I about **** myself doing that.

I've done about 35 on a BMX bike down an old cowpath road in the woods. Scared myself :censored:less. On an 18 speed I did 45 down a nearby road.

On my crappy 10 speed mountain bike, I got around 25-30 going downhill on road and about 15-20 downhill over rough terrain.

I just went and looked at my school in Google maps, and there's like 4 baseball diamonds behind the school? Who the hell puts 4 baseball fields right next to each other. You really only need 2 at the most. You could get by with 1.

Sorry accidental double post.

My school has 4 too, and a football field and a half assed ice rink. And tennis courts. Yet there is only like 900 people in the district that spans K-12. Everything is like on top of each other.

Mine has a Tarmac court with two goals and some b ball hoops..

I fell like I go to a poverished school now..

I almost forgot the horseshoe pits and the 2 soccer fields, and 4 playgrounds.
