All I can think of when I hear of people taking care of newborns is this picture (linked for language). Seriously though, congratulations on making it this far. 👍

congrats man!

Red flag or safety car, your choice...

Give him a black flag. The other should be allowed to continue the "race".

Or am I misunderstanding it? Misinterpretation? I can't even speak the word.

I want a baby! Give me one now!

Seriously, Mike, you've got me broody, not that I'd have to deal with all of those lady issues, nor is my wife ready to have kids. I might just steal one from school, I'm sure nobody will notice.

Congrats mate. 👍

Congratulations mate 👍 a very beautiful baby :)
My girlfriend is talking about kids.. I'm 19:eek: she's 18...
But looks like if we do actually follow through with this I know the amount of support on here is amazing!!

Go for it! Then we will have another Simple 'lun on GTP!!!

So, it's been 2 weeks since Aubree was born, my doesn't time fly!

So, how are we all doing? In short, well!

We are slowly getting into a routine, we go to bed around 11pm, Aubree wakes around midnight for a feed, this is fine but she has started fussing when we try to put her back down, it takes patience as she normally gives in around 1.30am... The plus side of this (for me at least) is that as Tash is Breast feeding, I just sleep through it :D
This doesn't mean i'm not pulling my weight however... I try to help as much as possible and Tash often commends me on my help so far.
Aubree generally sleeps till around 4am then wakes for another feed, we usually change her at this point, which depending on whether I have woken, I will do.
After that she sleeps through till around 7-8am, when she has another feed and change, I do this change as i'm up for work anyway.
When I arrive home from work I try to let Tash have an hour or so nap, Aubree is normally asleep so I just fire up the Playstation and squeeze in 4 or 5 TDM's on Black ops.... :sly:

After that it's dinner, which I normally cook, washing up, (normally Tash) and then telly till bed time. Sounds boring right? Not at all. Aubree is the highlight of my day everyday, I wouldn't change my life now for anything, I look forward to the day when I can interact with her more, talk, walk and play :D

On a pratical note, I have applied for Child benefit, and apparently i'm entitled to working and child tax credits, so I will be applying for them too...I'm hoping we get some help as money is VERY tight at the moment :nervous: The price we pay for happiness eh?

Aubree is growing so fast, here's some more photo's....what do you all think?

This thing is a life saver! It's a Swaddle and helps Aubs settle down and sleep

Like Father like Daughter....

Mummy time

Awww look at her :D

Enjoy the "routine" 'cos just as soon as you think you're in one, they hit a growth spurt and it all goes tits up ;)

P.S. Swaddling is great. Just make sure she doesn't get too warm in there :)

I have a similar pic from the day mini-Famine was born:

Tits up? Or do you mean Tits out?

Swaddling seems to work great, she sleeps far better (longer) when swaddled 👍

Sooo, Week 3!!

And I will start by saying this:

A familiar face these days

Aubree is changing everyday, just when you think you have figured out her personality she blows you away, it's amazing really.

Her feeding is going great, she was 8lbs 10oz when born, 12 days later she weighs 10lbs! Quite the chunky monkey! The downside to this is she gets grumpy after feeds, she gets windy and gurgles alot...que 2 hours of crying and vomit :grumpy:

But all of this is worth it, she is my life now and I am happy.

My parents moved house over the weekend, I helped out but doing so was difficult as Aubree was fussing while we were there and it took us forever to get out the house as she always demands a feed as i'm putting my shoes on

It's a strange feeling walking around Tesco's (Well, Aldi....) pushing MiniMad while doing the shopping, you get random strangers (mostly kindly elderly women) crouching down to have a look on her and tell you how pretty she is. This is nice and makes you feel like a more respectable member of society.

Tash is doing fantastically well with the Breast feeding, Aubree is thriving on her milk and I can see the bonding between them...this is nice but makes me almost sad in a way as I don't feel that bond with her yet. I hope this will come in time like everyone says it will.

A few Piccys :D

I love this picture! Feel free to caption it!

So there we go!

First: Future GT racer!!!

Shes flipping me off in the last one =P DAD YOU GOTTA QUIT TEACHING HER THAT STUFF!

:sly:

In a few months you'll have a proper crazy strong bond with her Mike, I know what you mean when you talk about the bond between Aubree and her mom. It can make a new dad feel a bit like a spare part.

I'm just discovering the madness of being the funniest, giggle inducing part of Indy's life! It. Is. Amazing. I spent Saturday teaching her how to blow raspberries and now she won't stop doing it

And finally, she's sleeping in her nursery cot! Zzzzzz.

Ok, week 4!!

We have been parents for 4 weeks now, and what an amazing 4 weeks it's been!

Aubree is changing everyday, she is starting to look for like her mother now and is growing. Fast. I measured her yesterday and she is 23 inches long! that's nearly 2 Foot tall already!
We also had her weighed today, she is 11lbs 6oz!...which makes her a chunky monkey :D

Aubs is overall a fairly calm baby, she does get grumpy a few times a day but it's nothing a cuddle or Boob can't sort out. However she did go mental the other day, neither of us could calm her and she screamed for about 40mins, that was challenging and I have to admit I lost my cool, I put her down and walked out the room for a while, MrsMad had to take over and eventually an arguement ensued because of our frustration. It's still a learning curve and I have to work on my patience with both my Ladies, I have always had a temper and aubree has on occasion pushed my buttons too far. I think about this and realise it's stupid for me to get so angry at a baby, she can't help it and she depends on me and MrsMad to care for her. I felt so bad after losing my cool those times that it made me think about things more. Looking back on it I see it as a learning curve, I'm sure i'm not the only parent in the world that has lost there calm and had to walk away for a few seconds, but even so, it makes you feel pretty awful.
So I have a new mindset now and am keeping as calm as possible, I spoke to my Bro-in-law and he says he was the same, but like he says Aubs will only get worse as the teething begins ect, so I need to make sure my heads in the zone.

Tash is still Breast feeding like a champ, I'm so proud of her for it

So there we go, It's challenging being a parent, it tests your wallet, patience, marriage, and energy levels, but, it's beyond worth it!

Here's some piccys, enjoy :D

Aubree's favourite sleeping position, this is great for playing COD and GT5 while she naps!

The entire family laying on me!

She does start to look like Mrs. Good thing ;)

I recognize the loozing your cool part. It just happens sometimes on the big rollercoaster like learning curve.

Love the pics

Ah, how did the family cat react to the new arrival?

Its always interesting to see how a cat or a dog react to a new, small pink human that has become a part of the family and see what they do around them.

With regards of the patience, are you able to create an alter ego that just suddenly has a lot of patience without being rude?

When ever my baby cousin is over my dog gets really excited lol. The last dog I had used to get scared lol

I read through most of your thread (admittedly not all 35 pages of it!) but I have been looking at blogs from people on various forums I am signed up to.

Me and my girlfriend went through a lot last year - she fell pregnant in June and it came as a bit of a shock (we were using protection). We both decided to keep the baby and I would support her through and through. Unfortunately she miscarried after about 13 weeks, not long after her 12 week scan in fact.

This caused major upset but if anything we grew stronger together, both wanting a child (similarly her elder sister fell pregnant around the same time and had a baby boy earlier this year). Still living at home with my parents (I'm 23!) she is now 17 weeks pregnant again, this time everything is seemingly well. We keep having reminders of what happened before and to be honest it is very frightening. However with every week it becomes more and more of a relief that she and baby are OK.

Literally everything is happening at once, I must find us somewhere to live, she lost her job, I'm having to privately rent a flat accross town and so on. Fortunately for me I'm in a good job on a good wage, so able to support her. I've gone from having a string of interesting cars - A 306 GTi6, an imported Mazda MX5 mk1 1.8 and a Toyota Celica 190 - I now have a 3-door Ford Focus diesel! This has been another culture shock worth mentioning, as it's kind of relevant to the forum!

Just today she has phoned me complaining of severe abdominal pain and the memories of last time start flooding back into my head. I work about 20 miles away from home and she is being taken to hospital later this morning by her mum.

I'm losing my mind here at work!
