you act like there is a difference in the power they make. As if this is some parallel universe where things are not what they seem...

Ladies and gentlemen I welcome you to the twilight zone...

Sp33, you need some flutter dawg. FLUTTER!!! Turbo flutter is phat like butter, or something. I need to put that on a shirt for the next car show.

Speaking of subwoofers, last night at work me and a friend were listening to some song and I just turned it up and I felt my back teeth rattle. Me rikey rice rong time!

And YEAH! Whats with all these people that don't own Honda's posting in here?! :odd:

P.S. We just added another car to the family. A 2001 Civic LX-G with a 5 speed in champagne gold. :D 👍

That makes 8 vehicles and a tractor parked in my driveway...or should I call it a parking lot now?!

Its not how much power it makes, but reliability and maintenance is something i look for, as well as linear power. Turbo's will more then usually have a higher peak power, but superchargers make most of the power throughout the whole rev range. And who wants to be shifting out of lag all the time when in traffic, and or overtaking.

If i was after outright power i would have been going for turbo. Plus ease of install of the supercharger is a bonus.

I fixed my check O2 sensor problem. As it turns out, spark plug anti-foulers are an awful idea for spark plugs, but positively genius for pwning your own ECU. What an idiot computer!

Basically, you take these anti foulers, which are simply aluminum fittings that have male and female threaded ends, drill one out so the sensor fits inside, put the two together, and screw it into the O2 bung. Now the sensor is tucked up inside these fittings and completely out of the dirty exhaust flow, but still receiving enough air to register a correct signal. Woot. Two of my friends have done this on their Sentra Spec V and massively turbo'd tC, and they showed me this common but not-so-obvious trick. Seriously, this is a must for any OBD2 car. The only side effect is more power and a gargley exhaust.

I know the O2 sensor trick, but exactly how much horsepower could be gained by doing it?! I've heard of many people doing it, but this is the first time I've heard of a power gain from it. Exactly how much HP are we talking?! :odd:

After he removed the cat, the car wasn't running right. Now it runs right, so he can get the benefits of gutting the cat in the first place.

Anyway, it's snowing. I went out for a drive, and my summer tires fail epically at snow. My snow tires are bald as hell, so they have about the same about of grip. And only half of my handbrake works, so that rules out any type of fun in that category.

EDIT: Oh, and an Accord spun out behind me, so I've decided to stay off the streets a bit.

Well, have you ever seen the inside of a converter? Each hole through the catalyst is, like, a couple tenths of a millimeter in diameter, so I have no idea how all that air gets through it very efficiently. I'm not sure how much power you get from it, but I did notice that my VTEC now engages more abruptly, like a Stew's, instead of the typical all-noise-no-go B-series VTEC.

I can get anything to spin out. I spun out my old lawn tractor.

Anything.

EDit: But of course I've never tried an Accord. Are they really that bad?

They do that. The Sol did it big time cause the wheelbase was so short, and this EM1 does it a bit less. Most all FWD cars do it, but I think it's one of the secrets to Civics' awesomeness.

Accords dont spin, they plow with their prodigious understeer. Next you'll be seeing cars driving humans.
He was plowing at first. He slammed his brakes and slid to the side into the curb, then turned his wheels completely to the left while sliding. After a few seconds of this, I guess he thought releasing the brake a bit might be a better idea. That = instant grip and the car spun.

People just can't drive. I laugh at all these people with their electronic aids and what not... When does it end... LEARN TO DRIVE PEOPLE!

Hey now, you can say that all you want until you know how to drive your car without ABS and find out that, oops, there was nothing you could do to avoid that crash. I may be a huge hypocrite on this issue, but it's just not as simple as knowing how to drive. Some things really are just unavoidable.

I think the issue here, and in just about any case, is logic. If the people thought "HEY ICE OMG IT MIGHT JUST MIGHT BE SLICK" they may not have spun all the way around. Maybe just a 180.

I can spin my civic. This accord was just.... hmmm

Honda likes to call it "predictable handling" say's the brochures. I think as with all car's though, lower it and put some thicker tyres on the front and it would sharpen things up a little.

Stiffening the suspension can allow the car to handle better, but it also makes it easier to do bad things. The first thing a person should do when tuning handling to slap on the sticky tires they want. The only adjustment tires allow for is air pressure, whereas suspensions have all sorts of complex adjustments.

Since the tires can't be adjusted it makes it super easy to find the faults in the stock suspension especially because you'll be pushing it to it's limit. You'll be able to see easily if you want more or less oversteer, or understeer, or you want the rear end to be more stable, and you want the front end to turn in quicker, and even if you want it to ride harder or not. With my car, it'd be handling like a race car with a set of slicks and big front and rear antiroll bars.

Of course, I want it to look good, so I will probably lower it instead of get big ARBs. But only a little.

I think I may have gone off topic.

Well I realized you gained hp from removing your cats, I just thought you were saying you gained power from doing the O2 trick...my bad.

Hey Toyomatt, you ever have any problems with your gauges? (cluster stop working, lights go out but come back on, etc.) Luckily theres a 3 month warrenty on the car, but if they don't stop giving us the "well lets try this...hmmm, that didn't work...lets try this then" run around we're just going to drive it over to Honda and send the dealership the bill.
