Ok so rate me the following from best to least best. Feel free to add personal comments about specific trim levels or issues. This will help me narrow down my chioces. I'm pretty much dead set on a Japanese car or an American coupe.
  • 1998-2002 Honda Civic EX coupe/saloon [unmolested]
  • 1997-2001 Honda Prelude [unmolested]
  • 1998-2001 Honda Accord EX V6 coupe/saloon [unmolested]
  • 2002 Acura RSX [price permitting]
  • 1997-1999 Acura CL
  • 1996-2001 Acura RL
  • 1999-2001 Acura TL
  • 1997-2001 Acura Integra [unmolested]

Well, I'll leave the CL, RL, and TL out of this since I basically know nothing about them and they are in a way different class than the others.

IMO, in terms of bang for the buck, I would go:

1. Acura Integra (GSR, the regular models are basically equal with a Civic EX)

2. Honda Prelude (I'm not a big fan of these, but I know for the price the performance you get is way better than the Civic.)

3. Civic EX (While the other trims are a bit lighter, you aren't looking to build a track car, so this is the best performing model for your money.)

4. Accord (I don't know a lot about the V6 model on this, but I'm guessing it's not as fast as the Prelude and doesn't handle nearly as well. It probably handles better than the Civic in bone stock form, but a set of wheels and tires is always required on a Civic, just for the major fun factor increase. Even a set of Si wheels, or integra GSR "blades")

I can't comment on the other cars, but this is my opinion on these. I don't know of any major issues for any of them though, just that insurance for a GSR may be a bit high. (probably prelude level actually)

Do keep in mind that my next daily driver is just that--a daily driver. I'm more interested in things like comfort, ride quality, sound deadening (IE least sound inside the cabin), and economy. I don't care if it has a 3cyl, this one is all about cruising in comfort costing me little money AND looking good in the process. The only expenditure I'm planning is a new audio system, tint, and possibly respectable rims. ZERO performance mods are to be installed.

Thanks for your input. :D

In that case get a Prelude.

Just not in Silver please. And a nice set of wheels. I hope by "respectable" you just mean "not rice", because other than "ricer" wheels and "performance" wheels, there's only chrome/show type wheels left, and they never look any good. Do a bit of reading up on offsets (what works well for preludes) and stuff before you do though. It's surprising how much a good fitting wheels makes a difference in looks. I frequently ask people what offset they have on their wheels, and they usually can't tell me. 75% of the time they don't even know the width. It's just "17's" or something.

By respectable I mean other Honda OEM wheels that will fit said car. I would love another Prelude, but I'm open to just about anything Japanese that isn't a Mitsubishi. :D

 That's one way of putting it I guess. 👍

Whats that sposed to mean.

Anyway i went there and hes like, so what are we doing today? A road worthy? Im like.. No.. Im here to get an exhaust fitted. Hes like, well im going on my lunch break soon... And ill have to order parts in.. Nothing we can do today.

I think everyone in this damn town is so goddamn incompetent.

You don't have much choices in the OEM category that will fit a prelude good. And if you do, it's probably going to cost you as much as buying a set of aftermarket wheels. And that gives you a chance to get exactly what design, size, and color you are looking for.

I dont have a mechanic, i do all the work myself. I just dont have the time right now, I get off annual leave tomorrow :(

And i had to get a new exhaust fitted because the last one wouldnt pass. Apparently rattling makes for unroadworthy car's.

Hey guys,

i didnt want to open a new thread here so i'm just gonna post this in here :)

2008 Honda Accord

I'm asking here regarding the logic behind HONDA iself!

The '07 Accord's all have LED Tail lights but the brand new '08 Accord's
have normal BULB Tail lights.

I read in an article that for example LED braking lights reduce reaction time by 5 meters plus LED's are much brighter and much more visible to other road user's.

So why does HONDA install normal bulb tail lights on the new models. All car manufactor's go for LED lights, even some for LED Indicator's!

Please can somebody explain the Logic behind that concept?

Thanks to all

Chris

Cost-cutting, I'll bet. LEDs are expensive, and I'll bet with incandescents being phased out in their applications, the demand is slipping and their price is dropping.

Looks like I'll be getting one of these:

A black on black leather 2000 Honda Accord EX V6 coupe with 90,5xx miles. 200bhp and 195lb.ft. isn't that bad--but isn't fast either. My mid-90's Maximas I think are/were faster. But speed isn't what I'm looking for this time. This is my daily driver "criuser".

You can get LED lights that go into normal bulb sockets. Should still be faster lightup time than the bulbs. And they are as cheap as the bulbs in some cases.

Cool. I think those were the best looking Accord coupes. I haven't seen many of them lately, actually.

And the carfax is in, the vehicle has been wrecked. Not totalled, but wrecked. That's not the worrying part, the transmission thing is. I'm going in this morning and telling him I'll wait for something a bit more reliable. Damn, I was looking forward to driving it. I had NO clue that the automatic transmission was junk on these. More reason to get the 5/6spd. Oh well.

WAIT, it's an automatic?

FAIL

Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you, sorry. None of us in here do automatics. They're almost as complicated as electricity.

Remember guys and gals this is my daily driver CRUISER that I'm interested in. Performance is not the first thing on my list. My daily driver cannot be a manual, I detest driving a manual in traffic.
