Looks good keef, any more other shots though? I don't really roam around gtp at all except for this thread.

On another note, welcome our newest member: '92_NSX_Type_R

Hi there!

New to GTPlanet (I confess I was wondering about car setups in GT5P and I found what seems like the perfect forum to discuss such things!), I've been looking for the "introduce yourself" topic and haven't been able to find it. Still, I found this very topic, that could be just another place to call "home". Indeed, I'm one of the administrators of the French-language Honda Accord Passion forum and, of course, a Honda driver.

My two cars are a '90 ED9 CRX I got brand new and a second hand '00 CH1 Accord Type R I bought in January 2004. Both are great cars, as you could tell, considering my enthusiasm for the Honda brand. Such enthusiasm that it justified a pilgrimage to the Twin Ring Motegi and the Mugen headquarters, two years ago! Those curious about that can check the pics there, which I gladly share.

As for Gran Turismo, I started with GT2, and never missed an episode since then. At the moment, I enjoy GT5P and its online races, though I'm certainly not very competitive at the moment! ;)

So, take care and see you online!

Yellooo

Well I'm off to check a car for a friend and was wondering if there are any specifics I should look out for as well as the basic checks. The car is a UK spec 2004 Civic sport, the VTEC 1.6 model. If anyone has any experience with them and knows what problems they could have or what to look out for I'd appreciate it.

Oh, and I'm checking it today so no rush ;)

Cheers.

Yeah, post em up. The reason we don't come here very often anymore is bacause everyone went out and bought Toyotas.

Well heres the pics to look at, Just done the conversion last weekend, Few bits and bobs to tidy up but she's running great!

The car used to have a b16a2 in it as it is a VTi

Hope yous like! Got a Dyno day on the 8th Nov to see what she is pushing!

Also thought i'd mention she is running a full 2.5" system manifold back and the JDM Spec ECU from a 98 spec ITR

Looks fantastic, have you got any more exterior/interior pics?

And while I remember, be careful what terminology you use:

It's "JDM" spec ;) We don't use the three-letter J-word: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=100652

Oops! Edited!

Yeah i have more exterior pics but it was before the conversion!

Not got any other interior pics! Im not much of a photographer, i'll see what i can post up!

Well now you went and put the brake master cylinder on the wrong side, silly.

EDIT: See that rubber thing inside the lip of your fender in that last pic? Take those off, now. They are prone to holding water and helping rust form inside the fender.

4-1 DC sports manifold (heatwrapped) 2.5" collector
2.5" decat
Buddyclub prospec 2.5" system
JDM 98 Spec ECU
NRG Torque Damper
J's Racing Intake
Excedy stage 1 racing clutch kit
Excedy Lightened flywheel (4kgs)

Thats my performance mods that would add to my gained power - standard b18c6 has 187bhp so i gained 22bhp

My friend was their with his 98 Spec JDM ITR and he got 195bhp he was gutted when he seen my figures!!

That reminds me...Maybe we can get a discussion going on the engine in the Civic Si
One thing I am a bit confused about though is why wouldnt Honda give it a bigger engine? The H22 in my Prelude makes the same, if not more horsepower than that 2.0 in that Civic but it also makes like 20 more ft/lbs of torque. I know that the 6 speed makes up for this a bit, but it has me thrown off.

Yea but for .2 liters you get 20 more ft/lbs of torque, and you dont have to rev quite as high to get power.
You also get about 40 more pounds with a K-series as opposed to a B-series. obviously the K is more powerful and capable of much beyond that, but power doesn't make up for an extra 40 pounds over the turny wheels. My choice for a race civic, especially autocross, would be a B20/VTEC hybrid. It's buildable naturally aspirated to around 250hp and ~170lb-ft, maybe more if you went in-depth race car stuff.

I hate the trend of putting bigger and bigger engines into the cars, I wish the engines were smaller.

I'm with you on this one đź‘Ť

@ Boz Mon - you make a good point, but then that's where weight comes into it. A 1.6 really has torque enough in something like the Civics that PB and Keef have (if I'm not behind the times... you guys both do have Civics, don't you?) because they're quite light cars. You don't need a big wodge of torque in a light car because the torque you have is enough for good pace. In something like a Prelude, then a 2.0 or 2.2 are more adequate and also, in larger cars, having more torque is more necessary for long journeys etc. Even so, something like a B16 can't be too shoddy on the highway, can it? It makes 100bhp more than my car and I cope okay!

The Civic Si's curb weight is 2899lbs while the Prelude is 2954lbs according to a quick google search. I guess the 55lbs is reason enough for the smaller engine.

On a lighter note, I got my honeycomb grille today, the Prelude emblem from is is missing though. I called Honda, and they want 45 bucks for a new one (just the emblem!!!) for the grille alone it is $130!!! I got my grille for $40 so now I just need to find the emblem

I should add that the cars should be smaller too. Everything is becoming a heavy brick these days. What happened to 2250lb?

Actually the K20 is a much lighter engine than the H22 infact a K20 is lighter than a B16
