Which would you rather have, both around 240hp N/A. Would you like the 2.0L Honda S2000 or the 1.3L Rotary Mazda RX8? This is a great match i would say both redline at about 9000 rpm if im correct, and which would you want.

I voted for the Honda S2000, i love it!! The Honda S2000 One of the secrets behind the S2000's clean exhaust emissions is air injection. When the engine is cold, a shot of air is fired into each exhaust port to help ignite unburnt exhaust gas particles. The burning particles heat the exhaust gases in the manifold, quickly bringing the smog-scrubbing catalytic converter to peak operating temperature. Honda S2000 Holds the record for highest natrually aspirated hp/liter figure in the world. 120/liter . Just alittle info for you guys.

Having recently driven both, I would go with the S2000 for "more fun, less daily" and the RX-8 for "less fun, more daily".

I plan to buy the new 2004 Honda S2000 early next year. It has increased torque and slightly better performance. The 'sedan' will come later in life (:

I believe with the S2000 we've found the one class competitor I dislike more than the Mazda RX-8.

Can't these people find an Impreza, a Lancer, a 350Z - something?

S2000, no doubt. It's lighter, and much better looking, too.

I might also get one for the summer of '04, although mine will be either an 01 or an 02 (hey, i'm not rich enough to get a new one!)

RX-8. I don't drive on a racetrack enough for the S2000, and I'd hate to have to live with all those bumblebees under the hood. Plus, my pops had an RX-2, talk about cool.

RX-8...the RX-8 is a car you can drive any time, any weather(I wouldn't attempt snow driving in it, buy a late '80s 323 or 626 for that :)), scare the crap out of 3 others with your driving in, and you'll have the novelty of the rotary and the great quality that is Mazda(moreso on thier Japanese-made products such as all rotary Mazdas(Ford's rotary understanding is that of a 5 year old's, and Ford considers the engine risky so they won't go into collaboration with Mazda on a rotary car made in the states), the Miata, and the MPV(and what use to be the Millenia).

I think the day that I own a Honda will be the last day anyone listens to me or considers me sane(for who I am, that is, not saying that Honda sucks, but I personally don't really care of thier cars much).

lol. I took the rx8 because i just didnt find the s2000 very attractive. Most of you would scream at that but its just my opinion.

No rotor, no motor!

Unless it's an S2000 ...

Hey I saw a `95 RX-7 today. If it wasn't a red automatic I might have taken more time to check it out. Can't stand red - can't stand automatics.

Heheh, S2000 all the way man! This car has the perfect
balance of any stock front-midship cars on the market. Better emissions and better fuel mileage, whats not to like? And damn good looking to.

PunkRock, I would suggest for the S2000, get the one with the glass rear window, the ones with the plastic smuges easily.

But that one only comes in yellow, and it's priced higher than the soft topped ones! It's not like it'd do much rain driving with one, so i don't care. Besides, if i find an NSX priced right, and in the right color, you can kiss the S2000's ass goodbye!

I figure it's time i move on to a more grown up sports car...

The S2000 is very "grown up". Though I'd take an NSX over the S2000 also (:

The plastic rear window was on the 2000 model only (I believe) and has been glass ever since.

Oh, i thought he was talking about the hardtop you can get for like, 4000$! They all have glass rear windows now, yeah.

I'll take an NSX, only if it's a 1991-1993, it's red with the black top, and it's manual. I'm not overly interested otherwise. Well, there's also the fact a 94+ is out of my budget.

Winter is long, i have plenty of time and choices in that price range...

mix reviews.. 8 to 5 seem more people favor the S2000. I dont really find RX8 attactive myself but its pretty fast curcuit wise. It is always put up against S2000 and 350z on best motoring curcuit races. Anyways it is an amazing car but i like RX7 looks better.

Just a side note, yes I would take the RX-8 over the Enzo just because I don't need to have the fastest thing on the roads(isn't that obvious, I drive a 323...), I just want something that's relatively fast(the 323 is, for that era economy cars) and useable everyday.
Or, a better choice, would be for me to take the Enzo, drive it once, sell it, then buy the RX-8, and use the rest of the money to import a Eunos Cosmo(just hitting on the fact that the official first RX-8 owner in the US also owns the only registered Eunos Cosmo in the US), and import a Lantis as my winter car.

Practicality rules over performance anyday in my book. Though I'd like to have a car right on the boarder of both.

I think both cars are great, but if I was looking at buying on i'd go for the S2000. Main reason being, i'm not to sure how reliable a rotary engine is and the cost for replacement parts.

Not if you want 4 seats, RWD and a halfway decent proposition for a long trip.

I suppose you can get a Mustang Mach 1 in that range, but the RX is a signifigantly better balanced car.

To me, its just a simple question of needs. If you don't need the rear seats, take the S2k. If you need them, take the RX.

Actually I believe you drive the 323 because that's what your parents gave you (:

If someone were giving me one of the two cars I'd take the Enzo for SURE. Then I'd spend about two years ragging it the F out. Then give it away and get something practical.

Well you have to be rich to drive an enzo, i believe. Think about how much gas and if it break down or to get it repair that would be killer :banghead: alot of dough. I would rather have my Skyline :D yeah im crazy

The S2000 makes a better toy. The RX-8 is a more reasonable daily car. Though I still think it's "half-assed" for sedan use. The backseat is NOT big enough for adults to be comfortable. I'm looking forward to a fourth generation RX-7 to use a next generation RENESIS and some cool new body styling.

In all actuality, I really don't own it. And my parents didn't get it for my use. It was just...there. There. Sitting there lonely on the driveway while the parking brakes froze on, the tires dry rotted, and the wax evacuated the vehicle. But for months it just sat wating for a day of snow which only came several times and then even it sat though that sometimes.

Strangely, the sitting is what hurt the 3 the most, nothing has broken with me driving, or with my dad(well, the converter did fall off, but we knew it was going, I was just lucky enough not to be driving at the moment the 1.6 nice sounding engine turned into a diesel truck with no exhaust), and I take extreme pride in driving it, even if I don't own it personally. It went from sitting there to spirited driving, and, sadly, it's the most complete, stock, and in good shape, 1st gen 323 I've ever seen.

Anywho, driving an Enzo or any other Ferrari in St. Louis is a pure sign of insanity. Many of the roads here just aren't smooth. :) Plus in my area, there's lots of old people, and lots of young twits(I'm not part of that group), that just don't pay attention while driving, and they seem to crash into all the wrong cars.
The RX-8 actually has a respectable amount of rear seat space, which is big enough for many adults. Strangely, those words come from a 323 driving kid who's 323 has more rear seat space than his dad's 2nd gen Probe. ;)
