Nice pics there stumpydino! Sox and Martin was one of the acid-dipped cars, right? I think I saw it in Hot Rod. They had to back the metal with foam to keep it from fluttering in the wind, it was so thin.
Was the Vette one of those rotary prototypes? If Chevy had finished developing it back in the day, the car world might have been very different today! AMC might yet be alive, and the RX7 might not exist!

POWERTRAIN
Engine: Space being at a premium, a compact LS1 was the easy choice. It's been slightly honed to displace 347 ci and is fitted with a Lunati crank, billet 6.125-inch rods, and dished 8.5:1-compression pistons. Fed through a FAST intake, the stock heads have been fitted with Manley 2.02/1.57-inch valves and sit atop 0.052-inch Cometic four-piece gaskets. A Comp hydraulic cam measures 224/220 degrees at 0.050 and is ground on a 114-degree lobe-displacement angle. The rest of the valvetrain is also from Comp Cams, and the factory GM coil packs are hidden inside the fenders. A FAST standalone system manages the electronics.
Power: 730 hp at 5,800 rpm, 710 lb-ft at 5,000 rpm at 13.5 psi
Transmission: A stock GM 4L60E out of a '99 Pontiac Formula takes care of shifting duties.
Rearend: Out back is a complete C4 Corvette IRS with 3.45:1 gears and a limited-slip differential.
CHASSIS
Frame: Imagine Motorsports built a custom chrome-moly tube frame.
Suspension: Concurrent with the Pro Touring vibe, the entire suspension is out of a C4 Corvette, with polished control arms up front.
Brakes: C4 Vette clamps, with cross-drilled rotors, bring the '57 to a halt.
Wheels: The cliche billet treatment has been ditched for a set of American Racing Torq-Thrusts measuring 18x8 front and 18x10 rear.
Tires: Grip comes from Michelin Pilot Sports all around. They're 235/40 up front and 285/40 in the rear.
STYLE
Body: It's a sweet two-door convertible. The steel cowl-induction hood was custom built and the door handles were lifted from a Corvette. The bumpers have been smoothed, flush-fit to the body, and given a monochromatic paint treatment. The sail panels on the quarters are made from carbon-fiber.
Paint: The car was painted in-house with six coats of PPG Torch Red from an '01 Corvette, and three coats of clear.
Interior: The 2+2 arrangement features red leather hides and six-way power front seats. There's a custom center console, dash panel, and parade boot. A Vintage Air A/C system keeps things cool, and there's a Pioneer CD/DVD player with a flip-up screen on the passenger side.

Well, a civic could have a custom color, but that doesn't mean it belongs in this thread. Fact of the matter is, if it's an import, no matter what's been done to it, it does not belong in the hot rods and muscle car thread. The custom refers to custom American made cars. An example would be a chopped '50 Mercury, or something along those lines. Imports have there own thread, just though I'd say something.

Nothing Wrong with a 1960 Biscayne.... that has buick wheels.... and a 6 Cylinder, and no key(starts without one), and no seatbelts...
But it's extremely cool. 👍 And, with a little elbow grease, all problems can be treated.

But, there are a few problems
-No Seatbelts(can't pass a kansas test I dont think) -yet
-No A/C -yet
-Stereo isn't hooked up -yet
-No key (can't open trunk or glove box, can't lock doors) -yet
-235 6 Cylinder is weak (makes it hard to get started with the 4 speed)
-4speed Conversion was really sloppy. (it had a 3 on the column but the previous owner pulled out the column shift and put a 4 on the floor in -if you lift up the rubber bushing around the gearshirt you can see the street
)-no power steering
-drum brakes
-tiny aftermarket wheel is a pain in the butt. THe ratio is way off, you have to turn it about 3.5 times all the way around to make it turn right, then 3.5 turns back.
-horn isn't hooked up -yet
-Dummy spotlights are dummys. No lights, just there for show.
-wheels are from a buick
Pros:
-wheels look cool
-has a hurst shifter 👍
-sounds cool.
-Fins. It's all about the fins.
-will be putting a 305 with electronic ignition, headers, and a turbo 350 transmission in it this summer.
-will also put in a better stereo
-will also pu it seat belts.
- will get a key.
-will get rid of dummy spotlights. (they'll live on as desklamps)
Needless to say, I'm not going to get to drive this car to school this spring when I turn 16, but I probably will after i restore it this summer.

I don't know if anyone saw these pics when I put them in my other thread but here they are again for your viewing pleasure. This will take ages to load all this stuff. In fact, go make yourself a sandwich or a cup of tea while you wait 5mins for everything to load. I couldn't be bothered sifting through them to take it out so try to spot the very rare little British interloper.

-You should go with a 283 or a 327 and keep it in the period. And keep it a manual Depending on what tranny they used for the four speed you might find a belhousing to mate it to a SB. A 283 with a four speed would be fun to drive and still deliver decent mileage and a 327 with the four speed could be ALOT of fun... But then again 305's are alot more common and less exspensive.
BTW what are you going to do with the 235?

I might try to rebuild it and sell it, honestly, I have no Idea at the current time.
Also, the clutch wants me dead. It will be pushed all the way down, the shifter will go all the way from third to second, and not be in a gear.
But still, it's a hurst. 👍

You're lucky misnblue; we don't get anything like that here in northern Mississippi. Although one time the Hot Rod Power Tour rolled in to civic center in the next town over and I caught that. Occasionally there are some events in Tunica where all the casinos are.misnblu

The clutch could be out of adjustment. I have had that happen times on my 79 (manual clutch not hydrolic) and your right its still a Hurst. 👍
