One more shot....

Im new to this thread but i just started on my own customs and stuff, this time with the proper tools, i have done full customs and random wheel swaps, not with the proper tools, hammering out the rivets, taking out paint with files and ruining completely cars, as now im working on my first proper custom, some old beat up 70 chevelle i found at a flee market, ill leave you guys with my first customs done a year or so ago, i was looking for a lemans kind of look for the mclaren, but i didn't have a drill at the time or new that you needed one, so i hammered it completely, and the other one was just regular spray paint on top of a stock car paint job, and a random wheel swap, to get a good look, none turned out good, or even proper.

Fourth generation always looks good!^^
I did my first custom wheel swap with new axles, too bad i couldnt find brass rods, or any rod with a 1/16 diameter. Luckily my mom does wire jewelry and i found these things that work as axles, but theyre a bit thinner than 1/16 so you have to be super careful.

It feels like the car has a lot more attitude.
The thingies i used are ****ing weird, but here they are, anyone know what they are, please tell me:

Now im currently working on a nascar car thing, putting chromes on it, kind of like a donk, well not really, like those wannabe street racers, its a pontiac, i dont know what model though.
@R1600Turbo i have no idea how to make the pictures any smaller, besides putting a thumbnail, which shows 0 resolution at all, i think, any other way there is, tell me.

If you are uploading them here, just attach them as thumbnails, people can click on them to see the large photo. If you are hosting them off site, try Flickr and then you can share them in different sizes.

I don't know how others do it(I'm not at all software savvy), but I use "resize" in microsoft paint.

Great paint Jason. I also like the chromed lip on the wheels. Pretty good job on detailing them. Off a Italian Job Mini?

Boulevard Civic Si. I had an extra, but I have a plan for the donor too. Making it an epic downhill hot wheels track racer by putting FTE wheels on it, blacking out the windows, and loading it with lead from a pinewood derby car. :D

Cool. I also want to build a downhill racer, but I've got nowhere to run it ): the 12-meter long track the club built isn't taken out as often as it was in the past.

Publicity Notice:

Congrats to the few members here who made it to Lamley's Special Awards 2013.

Didn't think my One-77 was that special.

-----------------------

Sad to find out I misplaced about 10 of my Illustrious cars after the packing from the basement flooding.

As japanese-biased as Lamley is, I'm surprised the 2000GTs didn't make it. And Ahmed's GT40 is missing there too.

As for me, I knew if I was there that it was going to be the gasser, even though I would have loved to see the Nova wagon in there instead. Regardless, I'm very pleased of the acclaim the gold 55 has received. Thanks for including 👍

I disagree on the "custom of the year". The gullwing doors on Hew's M3 always seemed way random to me. Like he didn't know what else to do to the car and the idea just popped in his head and went for it. They heavily put down what could have been an amazing race car livery, which is something Hew does pretty damn well. And the wheels don't fit it at all. COTY should have gone to the Starion. By faaaaaaar.

Anyway. Congrats Jason, Andy and At1. If I'm missing someone sorry, I can't see the pics in here and I'm going by the names alone. I'll check out the entire post at home.

Guess a wheel swap and small detail is enough to make it. :P

Guess he's not after the top stuff because mine definitely wouldn't have been in. I'm guessing it was to show it's not always about custom fabrication and decals that makes something great. Mine probably had the least amount of work done to it and it seemed to receive a lot of positive feedback.

I have more time on my hands starting tomorrow, so I an finally work on some customs, and maybe even finish them the same day.
I shall attempt to make one of these.
No excuse why you couldn't do so. You're more than capable of such.

Daniel's would have been our Custom of the Year if we had selected one, but we didn't. Part of the reason to feature that was it was our first custom contest, and it really helped push our custom coverage. I am thinking of moving away from custom contests, and continue to focus on just the customs. The range of what is sent in is so diverse now it is nice just to continue to feature the wide array of work. We may try a photo contest or two though.

Andy's One-77 had garnered a few questions as to why it was one of our faves, but that was a point we wanted to make. It is not always about the ability to completely transform, even though we love those pieces. Sometimes the smallest tweak changes models immensely, and how much better does the One-77 look lowered just a bit. Brilliant.

@R1600Turbo, frankensteining a 620 with a GT-X?
Yes. Obviously already one made as you can see in the first photo I stole from HWC, but I want one for myself. I've never cut up/mixed up bodies before so it'll be an experience. Maybe add it to the multitude of half finished projects already sitting around.

I just checked out the post right now -and commented on it btw- and I hold my opinion on Hew's M3 even more now. I remembered it with a way much more spectacular paint job, but it's actually quite simple, and I still don't like the doors nor the wheels.

I understand why it would be special because first custom contest winner and stuff, but it's far outclassed by several cars in the post. Even our own At1ness' 240Z is way better in terms of work and final result than Hew's car because of the focus of the project. The Veneno or Starion would have been COTY for me.

i finished it, i was going to strip it totally, but then i remembered the first time i tried stripping i didnt wait and only the tampos came off, so i did this, and the pontiac looked all fresh on this shiny black that was hiding under all the tampos, it was something like this, http://image.stockcarracing.com/f/featurestories/9862901/scrp_0504_02_z+joe_gibbs_nascar_diversity_program+20_home_depot_car.jpg this is fairly accurate, but its the only one i found as i did not take a picture of the car in its stock phase, then i fitted some dubcity chrome wheels on it from a donor car, and idk if you guys will like it, but i do, sort of, i guess?
here it is, i didnt want to rebuild the axle or anything, since the donor car was pretty beat up, i tried to fix the axle but i couldnt make it straight, the funny thing is, it still rolls smooth and straight..

Im also planning to take this camaro, take out the hood, take out the engine it has, if im not mistaken its a ls1. i have a ford wheeler laying around somewhere and take out the engine from that thing and fit it in the camaro, idk its all chromy and stuff, but it was the circle crate box thing, i have no idea what its called, but the magnum 440 has it, if anyone could tell me id appreciate it, i think it could be a big block or a small block, once again, im not sure.

also, the mustang in the car, i got two of those, im thinking of making it a funny car, in a bright green, cut out the hood, same with the other car then attach it a little more forward? cant find a better noun or verb for that, anyways then after that put these wheels i have from thing spaceship car hotwheels decided to make, its like dishes in the front and really big 5 spokes in the back.

Thanks for those kind words Cano (regarding the Z). And thanks jtl46, for featuring our (GTP members) cars, in the As is faves of the year. 👍 👍

For me, Daniel Hew's M3 is really good, and the hinged opening doors are amazing, but i agree with Cano in that they seem a bit random. I also think that the COTY (for me) would have to be the Veveno or Starion, due to the amount of craftsmanship it must have taken to achieve such stunning end pieces.
