Ok, so I already had a decent amount of the car done before I asked that question about the windows, but now it is finally done. I used a damaged blister as the windows, so they're very clear but didn't show that well in the photos. (And by the way @Cano I hated the wheels as well, so I changed them to wheels from the Matchbox Toyota 4Runner)

It's not the best but it looks way better than it did. And it now rolls! :D

Does it have to be a Coke bottle? What about Nestea?

 screw you. BUT! there's stuff to this. Yes you can use even coloured bottles if you want to keep the originality, or maybe if the glass píece is borken in some place but you want to keep the originality of the car. Case in point, Ahmed once restored a 1960s-issued Lesney Beetle, still with gray metal wheels, that had the rear (oval) window broken but the rest of the glass was fine... with the exception that it was green. So he used a piece off a Sprite bottle to refurbish that part and reused the original glass elsewhere. It wasn't really noticeable until he told you.

So yeah, Nestea

Mmmmh, I don't like the looks, it needs several things:
-more pop. The black base is ok, but not the black bits that should be chromed. You should really repaint them in chrome and then detail the black stuff on them. Just that alone would bring the car to life dramatically. It looks dull as it sits now.
-other wheels dear God. Superfast-era Lesney cars are bigger than most standard 1:64 cars, so most of the times the wheels used in most standard 1:64 cars look like supermarket cart wheels on them. It's even worse if they're tucked inside the fenders like in this case. The car really needs other wheels. Come on, all-terrain tires in this thing?
-thicker glass, since it really doesn't seem to have any at all :0
-black interior?

or, alternatively
-a hammer. I hate this casting

The paintjob looks pretty good. It's the final finishing touches that don't do justice to the car.

Left thread.

Anyways. I think I'll be starting to do some customizing here in the next month or so. I have been picking up some duplicate cars and have been toying with some ideas. Stayed tuned!

Have I been up to something? No. But I did grind up a wheel just now.

Wasn't fun making this happen. I still don't have black vinyl tubing. All I could get were clear ones so once I get those installed, I'll have to colour it in [/lame].

And then the wheel-tire combo will come up absolutely freaking enormous and you won 't be able to use it in any car unless it's bigger than your standard-size HW (Think Superfast-era Matchboxes, Late 80s early 90s Majorettes, Norevs, SIKUs and other stuff) because it will look like a freaking donk and won't even roll.

Yep. I've got several sizes and I'm testing things out on a crap model anyway. I have to figure out a more reliable method of making clean cuts to the aluminum tubes first.

That one looks pretty damn clean to me, compared to others I've seen on Facebook groups that make you go all wtf is this crap.

Also, grabbing some cotton dabs and acetone and erasing ugly t5ampos off several cars that will be eventually wheelswapped. Right now. At work.

Who here has one these Ford Sierra's?

Reason I ask is because I notice the rivets are smaller than most Hot Wheels and I want to know what size bit to use.

Just use a smaller bit size than what you normally use?
I know that. I usually use a 1/8" bit for most of my castings, my first guess would be to use a 7/64", but I wonder if there is a better one I could use that will make it easier.

Probably because it's a Corgi, not a Hot Wheels casting.
Believe me, I know. I can never forget this casting since it is one of my favorites. The ex Corgi Ferrari Testarossa also has small rivets.

EDIT: Just saw your post Cano, I guess I may continue using my 1/8".

EDIT 2: You have one of these don't you Cano?

Eh... according to my tefflon memory, yes. According to reality, I'm not sure. I'm still missing some Corgi castings, don't remember for sure if this is one of them.
I remember in the collectors thread you said you got a certain one for a buck, one I almost got at one point. It wasn't the one I posted above, but I believe it was the one with Shell logo on it.

I had the 1:24 scale Corgi Sierra, loved it to bits (my second diecast that had wing mirrors, the first was a Corgi Triumph Acclaim that steered when the wing mirrors were moved). Though the Matchbox Sierra XR4i was the one to have. If i still had mine today, it would be getting a window pillar delete and some full-on RS500 treatment.💡

Had a beaten up Racing Champions '64 Galaxie for a long time.
Didn't know what I really wanted to do with it, but the playwear
was something I wanted to preserve.

And so, I bring out the weathering kit!

Try not to overdo the dirt, but it needed some level of
uncleanliness to give it the dirt track appeal.

Neat, but personally not the coolest of the bunch I've finished up (or am finishing up) at this moment.

Rubbish mate, another brilliant job, looks fantastic. Me, iam in the middle of a Lamborghini urus custom, see how it goes not to fond of the car but I got it for something different.

Not keen on the Urus, myself.. Although, i'd like to see someones take on what a custom Paris-Dakar version would look like.

Surprisingly, I like the dirt job on the Galaxie. Goodie, Andy.

A guy I know made a Liberty Walk-like version of the Urus, complete with custom fenders and wing and stuff. It looks surprisingly cool. I'll post pictures later, don't have any here with me.
