No, I don't really like the look of the original JL wheels. I have two sets of RR tires like that so I figured this would be a good time to try them out.

Well, in my opinion, while they both look decent. The first set looks better to me, for more of a monster truck look. The second set looks more like a street truck.

And don't know how to remove the rivets any help wild be hot :)
By the looks of it they're rounded/domed rivets. Iv'e never had to remove those before, but i'm pretty sure @Cano has. Common sense suggests that they'd have to be filed down a bit (more of a flat surface) prior to drilling, either that or somehow create a point/dot with a sharp tool (centre punch and hammer) to be able to centre the drill bit, otherwise the drill bit will most likely slide around and damage the rivet or chassis.

As a side note to all new members. @R1600Turbo, the guy who started this awesome thread, has a nice list of useful tips on the first page of the thread (what tools to use, etc etc). 👍

So I'm trying to measure some last-minute interior decals for a Matchbox Lesney Mercury wagon I'm restoring... aaaaaaaand I dropped it to the ground. There goes the paint thank you very much.
That sucks. Interior decals though, that sounds very interesting. Can't wait to see what you're cooking up. 👍

With regards to the mystery car.. one of the guesses was nearly there, but i'm not saying which one.

Okay, i'll give a tiny clue. The car itself may not be on anyone's radar.. (i imagine it's an insignificant car to some).

Another tiny clue, is that a 1/64 diecast of it, does exist already but it's quite hard to come by, Hence why i'm making my own version of it. :)

Nope, nope, nope, nope, nope nope, nope, nope.. and nope.

I think i might just have to post a WIP pic, because i can see this going on forever.

A couple of all the guesses so far, have come pretty close though.

[EDIT]

One last chance before i reveal my new WIP. Come on guys, think.

One last little clue too: The name of the car begins with a 'C'... (the manufacturers name doesn't begin with a 'C' though). 👍

You were getting quite close @Emmcee.

[EDIT]

Some were so very close.

This snowdrift is going to be a Honda CR-X.. I use to have a JDM one about 5-6 years ago, so that was another reason i wanted to do a 1/64 of one.

Apologies for the crappy guessing game. :D

Automatic self punch. If you have a Harbor Frieght in your area, hit them up. $3. It has a spring in it and when you press it on the river, I will make a dent large enough to start a drill bit cleanly.

Semester's almost done. I'm almost ready to get back into making another one of these.
Yay! for you. Any idea's or too early to say?
I was just waiting for some decent weather to get cracking on some customs, and now it's here.

Welcome to late 70s-early 80s Hot Wheels.

Indeed, what Nessy said is exactly what you have to do. As far as I know you don't have a rototool, but if you do or can access one, there is a rounded bit that does away with these (and any metal you throw at them) in seconds. It's the one in the center of the pic:

It's nothing, just a flat piece of white waterdecal paper painted with the interior's color just so the "door panels" of the wagon don't appear bodycolor. For the record, the casting I'm restoring is this one, the infamous doggie wagon:

It's starting to look a bit more like a Del Sol now. :)

Got damn. Amazing.

I can always come up with ideas, but I never have the time to do them*

But right now, I'm going to finish up them Fiesta wheels and that Aventador livery.

Once the weather is warm again, I'm getting on the air-brush work.

*aka too lazy and unfocused to get them done

Just did a small test fit of the roof bar, used a bit of modelers card i had laying around, though the final thing will be putty. It's starting to look a bit more like a Del Sol now. :)

Those seats look lost though. Need to add them to the list of fixes.

Ha! I feel dumb. I thought about the Cr-x but then was like naaww that's already got a casting. That looks awesome
