'32 Ford body is off to the paint booth. My first attempt didn't go so well. I bought one of those Testors air brush kits and it just splatters the paint. Guess I am going to rattle can the bodies.
I used a spare set of real riders. Custom axles and spacers in the rear because I used oversized rear wheels instead of the standard large ones. Cut a hole in the roof to make room for the crazy shift knob.

Started and finished these two Datsuns today. Nothing major, just some RRs and a little detailing. I had a red 510 wagon and liked the glass, interior and chassis from it more than the yellow version.

Hot rod is looking sweet. Totally got a bit of a rat fink feel. Needs some bigger exhaust tips.
For the simple job the Datsuns look good. Really like the wheels on the truck.

Work in progress:

69 Camaro Convertible.. The chassis is sitting kinda weird, cause the axle tubes aren't glued down, as I'm still doing lots of work on it. I need some more paint stripper. Just noticed I forgot to put the glass back in. Oops.

Done for now. I think it came out pretty well for a first attempt.

The other body has a checkerboard firewall which will be masked off. Will do a better job cutting out the roof. Would like to do an engine swap next time around and would like to get the body pinstriped but don't see that becoming reality.

Looks good! The only thing I'd do extra, is do the grill surrounding in the flat black, and the back bumper

@BryCivicSi Like that you did the over-sized stick. Would've been awesome if you tidied up the edges on that roof cut out though.

@Nessy. Is this Del Sol the most ambitious project you've worked on to date? I can't imagine how the headlight sculpt will turn out.

Yeah, the grille will be painted next time around. Never thought about the rear bumper. I will consider it.

Think I will do the interior red or white next time too.

Next one gonna be black too?
I think the other should be white, with red interior, so you have a black and white.

The back bumper I just saw the three little spots near the top edge, and thought it could be all black and the outer 2 indents be red, for taillights and the middle be for a lic plate

This was more an experiment than a finished project. It is quite rough IRL. I messed up the frame testing the rear axles, the shifter wasn't drilled correctly, the cutout on the roof is bad and it doesn't have any front glass.
When I get better at this, I want to get a little more wild with it. I would kind of like it to turn out looking like a rat fink car.

Well despite that, it came out pretty cool. The only one I notice is the roof cut. Everything else still looks fine.

Always can do better mate and that's the attitude to have as you won't strive to try better. Me personally, iam never happy with any custom jobs I do as I want to get better and better. There's always something I find I dislike.

Looking better and better. Like that Celica too. By the way what did you use as the basis for that. A civic?
Cheers man 👍 If you're on about the Celica, it was a Majorette Celica to begin with. The Del Sol is a Hot Wheels Honda EF Civic underneath. I was going to use the HW's EK Civic coupe, as the base originally (Have about five of those laying around), but although it seems like the more logical choice, i decided against using it as the proportions and rear overhang were closer to the Del Sol on the EF. May do some EK Civic Hatchbacks out of the unwanted EK coupes.

Yes and no.. In terms of progress made, it is, but i have a far more ambitious project that was started before the Del Sol. It's pretty much going to be 90% scratch built, using only a cut up chassis and a set of wheels, as donor parts.

@Cano did a sick 32 earlier in the thread (iirc), that was like that. It really did add to the car. 👍

Ah, yea. It is a closer size to the del sol. Chopped the roof off I assume. What about the back? Did you just slather a bunch of putty on it or make something to cover the gap left open?

I don't like the blue. I am open to suggestions and I plan on getting some paint on the way home after work today.

That blue really works with that IMO, id leave it but each to there own. Iam sure what ever you decide to do with it, it will turn out awesome anyway.
It looks better in picture. For me, it is a little too intense. I am looking for something a little more subtle. I think it could bring out they vehicles aggressiveness. Appreciate the kind words.

I was thinking a dark red and I saw a pic red with a white top, looks sick. Like the way you think. I have plans for a purple car already.

Yea, I was thinking either red with a white top / roof, or like full 2 tone, red on the bottom, white from the top of the fenders, hood all that up

That Javelin needs a snowplow to deserve to be in such company. And maybe side exhaust.

EDIT: AND a rollcage.
That's the great thing about those muscle cars, they tend to have lots of room behind the front seats to fit rollcages.
Bit of a snowplow on the Cougar would look cool too.

*Feeling inspired*
