and this is the bottom. I had to drill a couple holes so I can run the brass tubing through on the chassis
Just a heads up, you can post multiple attachments in a single post. Posting several times in a row is frowned upon around here.

Sorry for the multiple post. I couldn't figure out how to put multiple attachments together.

That is actually quite interesting, never would have thought of a setup like that. Post the finished results!
Will do. Ill post up more detailed pictures soon.

Hey everyone, I've been reading this thread for about 5 days now lol. I just found a bunch of old hot wheels in my attic and started taking them apart and am hoping to customize them, I also ordered a 2013 Scion FR-S hot wheels workshop to customize to match my FR-S I'll be getting soon.. I was wanting to ask where everyone gets these awesome wheels?! And I love looking at all of you guys good work!

If it's real riders that you want, like these if your not familiar with them:

Your best bet is to steal them from the more expensive (like $5) cars you can find at retail stores like Wal Mart, or if you're lucky, you might be able to find them much cheaper at flea markets or garage sales if you really look. 👍

On a side note, I have this old Lesney Ferrari sitting in primer:

But I can't decide which color to paint it:

What do you guys think?

Don't try to get Real Riders for your Scion, there's not a single wheels design that fits that car. Welcome to the thread, do show us your steps!

Thanks for the replies! I couldn't have hoped for such quick responses!:) I already stripped the paint off of the frs as well as a Lamborghini, Porsche, and an Aston Martin.. (Yeah I got an exotic pack yesterday for the wheels) also just to play around a bit lol.

And on the Frs, I've put the wheels off of the McLarlen P1, they have a slightly larger rear wheel and I think they look great! The rear wheel fitment is amazing and it still rolls, the front will be better once I get it lowered a bit.. Any tips on lowering?

Not way too wide, way too tall and they look goofy. Otherwise great castings are turned to crap with large rear wheels.

This. In the case of the BRZRF$RS>ZBRSZSZ being discussed, its wheelwells are made for small-size HW wheels, if you cram there a bigger one it will end up looking veeeeeery weird. You'd be better off swapping in two axle sets of the same size and then lowering it down a lot, @Swagginsince9

They aren't really wider.. Which I like, just taller?? If that's the word to use:rolleyes:

I also bought a couple of the more expensive cars to play with, but I can't justify taking the wheels off when the cars are so nice:(

Ahh, I got it. I'll probably put smaller ones.. If I can find some mesh or bbs style wheels.. I really just wanted to try something out, thanks for all these replies!!! Where do you pros get the nice wheels? Like the bbs or mesh style ones?

So... two questions.

One: How could I add some suspension to my M3 Wagon? It still rolls, but scrapes along a bit.

Two: Does anybody have any wagons, BMWs, or Tomicas they would like to sell/trade?

To make the body wider, I use putty. @Nessy Knows a lot more about this stuff than I do, so it might be best to ask him. Or, there are some tutorials on YouTube that might help.

This is the best Dremel tool I have, polishes the metal perfectly! This Porsche is half polished, it makes a big difference. I can't paint anything yet because no stores near me carry model paint and I want to use the best paint I can get, as well as some of the tamiya detail paints.

You can still get a great paint finish with cheap Walmart paint. Make sure the conditions are right, in a dust free area, and put the can in some hot water for 10-15 minutes before spraying.

If you're gonna paint that car with other than ink -thus going for an Spectraflame-type look, which I highly doubt-, the only thing you're doing polishing the car is giving your primer a worse surface in which to rest. Porous zamac is ideal for primer, polished zamac might make for easier chips in your paint.

Really? Well okay.. That's good to know, I think I am going to leave my dairy delivery van in polished metal and just detail the car, I think it looks cool. But i didn't think about the primer thing, I can rough it back up with some steel wool or a wire brush. What's a good primer to use?

Red interior maybe?

Yes. Or wine/maroon. 👍

If you're gonna do a polished DD, truly polish it. The finish you're getting with the Dremel is half the way. Go to your nearest Pep Boys and pick up some Mothers or Meguiars metal polish, they should be able to help you if you ask. Also get a slew of high-grit water sandpaper, at least 1000-grit. Sand, sand, sand and sand again until all the imperfections on the zamac are gone. Then apply the polish over the car with your finger, grab a cloth rag and go at it over the body until basically your hand has fallen down. Repeat all over the body for a true mirror-finish look.

And about the Porsche, I'd say you let it like it is now and try to prime over that surface. The primer you use depends on your paint, but I really can't recommend anything since, you know, I don't live there lol.
