The Cadmium red looks great R1600. đź‘Ť

[EDIT]

The Lamley customs for this week are up: http://lamleydlm.blogspot.co.uk/
Some awesome customs in there this week, i think i may steal the display case idea on that BB down the bottom, would be a nice way to display my Z (when i eventually finish it ).

I think the Tomica FT86's i see getting the custom treatment, would look so much better with the top edges of the opening doors painted, they would flow so much better with the rear quarter window.
With the way they are... they remind me of the Hyundai Genesis Coupe.

Will CS3 work ok?

I just got back from running some errands and remembered to get printer paper so I can start testing. đź‘Ť

Any version will do. I haven't printed any on the water slide paper yet. Just been printing on regular paper to test the fitting.

Maybe Cano or Ryan can comment on this. I just want to make sure I'm doing everything correctly. I did what Ryan said and started by taking a photo of the car. Then I reduced the size several times until the measurement between the axles was very close to it's actual measurement. Then I laid out all the graphics on the car, copied and duplicated them for the other side. Do you see anything that I should change or tips to do it easier/better?

That's a great idea too. Just print out on regular paper first to test your fittings. Nice designs btw.

That thing you're doing's gonna take A LOT of trial and error, dude.

Look, just measure with a ruler. Search around in the web for a printable ruler so you can print it out in paper and press it around the car so you won't get false measurements, and measure in centimeters.

Now that I made the decals for the Chaparral, the Formula 400, the Challenger and the Mustang I found that many of them were flat 1 and 2 cm long, and the littlest ones .5 cm. You'll never beat measuring the real-life thing instead of trying to scale it down.

EDIT: Also, now that I'm studying your decals: make the sections all together. For instance, the black... thing, frame lets call it, in which the Ford blue oval rests, do not separate the blue oval and the black frame, print them together, so you'll have as little items to cut as possible. Same on the Dunlop and the other tampo that's right under it, put them together dude.

Look yet again at the preview of the Chaparral Camaro's decals:

see the bunch of little stickers together? That got printed just like that and pasted like one item. If you cut it neatly enough the edges won't show at all.

I actually took the #5, Dunlop and V8 Supercar decals off that sheet I posted above and moved them to their own sheet. I only have white decal paper right now and will save those for when I have clear paper.

And I know how to use a ruler. I've been using one...

I just measured the EcoBoost that goes on the doors and compared it to the size I made it on the sheet and it seems like it'll be ok. I also prefer to have the different decals separate so that I can put them where they need to go.

Just went digging for my decal paper. Turns out I have 1 sheet of white, 1 sheet of clear. :D

I'll do everything on the clear sheet except for the windshield banners. They have white lettering, so will need to be done on the white sheet.

Or make your own printed out ruler. I like this idea too. It translates the computer scale to a real tangible one. đź‘Ť

The ruler for me in PS is measuring in inches, converted to decimal. I have a inches to decimal cheat sheet, so it's not that difficult to get the sizes I need.

Only thing with printing is that you gotta make sure you don't tell the printer "scale to fit" or else whatever you print out doesn't come out that size. I've had crappy experiences with it before.

Hey guys some awesome stuff here this week. I plain ran out of time today to do my normal perusing for the Lamley customs feature, and just posted customs that were submitted to me. I will be revisiting some of these next weekend...

(Jason, love your idea on the Falcon. I hope it turns out.)

Edit menu - Preferences - Units and Rulers - Units - choose.

Also, if the white lettering in the windshield is not a white banner with letters on it, but just white letters, you won't be able to do it. You cannot print white.

So I got hold of some screen shots of what I'm going to be creating replicas of in the future, the former being more important since I need a laser cutter for this.

Ah, awesome then, you're perfect to go đź‘Ť and pretty lucky too!

Except I just realized that the side window decals won't print right on clear decal paper. They need a hard white background. I can print them on the white paper, but then it'll be a pain in the ass to cut them out. May have to just drop them all together. :(

Edit: What I have so far for the clear paper:

Just thought of an idea. I'll take a picture of my reference car with an actual ruler side by side so when then I can scale that to Photoshop. You can't go wrong that way.

See if you can place a tiny bif ot white paper behind the decal that needs white. Which one is it? pic.

Check the pic I posted on the last page. Basically everything on the windows except for the front/back banners.

Edit: And I'm not sure how to do the taillights. Tried to use what I had, won't work.

mmh... what I'd do is print the Winterbottom/W.Davison decals in the yellow of the number, and avoid the other small decal that has white in it, and print them out like that.

As for the tailights, you'll need to create them with the two pictures, the onee from the rear and the one from the side.

But the yellow needs to be printed on the white paper to make it solid. Printing it straight on the clear paper will result in them being semi-transparent. I can print them on the white paper, but then I would have to cut them out which would be a nightmare.

Then print two of them, apply one, let it set for two days, then place the other one EXACTLY over it, so the transparency will be less evident. It isn't as difficult as it sounds because you can move the decal freely as long as it's wet. If it settles a bit, put a drop of wwater over it with your finger and move it again. Also, You could place the first decal set, clear them, then place the second over it.

Whaaaaat. You could totally make one piece and just wrap it around the corner.
