Hey guys, I'm new to :gtplanet: :D

I've seen on other threads saying that the X2014 S. Vettel Challenge is easy...

I've found it extremely hard to manage :scared: how are those guys able to ace those events in just one try? Haha

I always end myself up in a wall or into the grass/sad as a result of spinning out

Any advice for help? Would really appreciate it!

The setting I use for this event are:

TRANSMISSION: AUTOMATIC
TIRES: RACING HARD (Obviously)

DRIVING LINE: ON (I know, judge me :guilty:)
BLIND SPOT INDICATOR: ON
ACTIVE STEERING: MILD
TRACTION CONTROL: 0
ASM: ON
ABS: 1
SKID RECOVERY FORCE: ON
STEERING SENSITIVITY: 1

Is there anything wrong with this? Let me know what adjustments are suitable for this event!

CONTROLLER USED: DUALSHOCK 3

I would turn ASM off, ABS on 10,and since you're using a DS3, Steering Sensitivity on 7. 👍 Welcome to GTP! Oh and don't forget racing soft tires!

There's your problem. Or just use Racing Soft tires. Welcome to GTP!

Thanks for the welcome guys :D and I'll try those settings out.

The problem though, is that I can't seem to change the tires like in the X2014 Standard Championship. It's always locked in Racing Hard 👎

I haven't checked but maybe doodle thinks you mean the Standard championship as you can change the tyres in those.

I did this with the DS3 and I had steering sensitivity on 7 as well, so I second that too. When doodle posted that I remembered that was what I used.

EDIT: I just checked, you're definitely correct - RH are locked.

Eh?

I did the 2014 standard champ yesterday with softs.

The bottom one, before the fan car challenge. With Silverstone full, trial mountain, apricot Hill, Fuji and nurb gp.

We're talking about the X2014 S. Vettel Challenge (the one after the Standard). The tires there are locked to Racing Hard.

And it really doesn't matter. The hoover pretty much obviates the need for rubber on the ground. I can't even spin out in grass! Stay out of the sand, steer with the throttle, and don't be ashamed to use the driving line at first just as a reminder of where you are, and where you'll be in a split second.

Just a little update on the situation.

Tried out the settings on Monza and managed to get the 1st lap time of 1:06.953, hit the sand on the last turn on the last lap

This setting works really well guys 👍👍👍 now I just have to readjust myself to that last turn :mischievous:

Circuit de Spa Francorchamps was probably the easiest IMO (only restarted twice.)

Track_map_of_Spa-Francorchamps_in_Belgium.svg

1st lap: S. Vettel ghost rammed me off the track by turn 7  decided to take shortcuts :embarrassed: passed him on the chicane on turn 19 & 20 :mischievous:

2nd lap: Because I was in the lead and Vettel was rather far behind me, decide to go through the track clean :sly:

Gold on Circuit de Spa Francorchamps with 2:45.649! :D

One more win! :)

Yeah, Spa is easy (with or without shortcuts).

The advice I would give for Suzuka is: Don't push at 100% for the first attempt...run at about 80% and work out where you can go full throttle, where you need to lift and where you need to brake. Then you can start pushing more and more. I think it took me about 5 attempts using a DS3 to gold it, mainly due to silly errors on my part....and it doesn't need to be perfect, as long as you keep it on track.

And I agree with Chris_75 above...the Vettel Challenge in GT5 with a DS3 is some sort of PD joke: "you really think you are good? Haha...now we demonstrate that you are not!". It took me about an hour or so total to gold all 3 in GT6.....in GT5, after an hour, I wasn't even close to getting gold at Monza, let alone the other 2 events

You're using automatic transmission, try to use manual for the future, once you get the feeling, you'll never play automatic again.
Ang using manual can make you a bit faster.

After immense frustration with the DS3 and default settings, I switched my ABS to 10, my TCS to 6, Controller sensitivity to 7, and all other aids off.... I finally took a zen approach and was able to gold all three tracks within about 30 min. My advice for Suzuka is don't overdrive the car especially through the esses. You make up alot of time in turn 1 and 2... so don't worry being too far behind Vettel through the rest of lap 1. You can finish about 2 seconds or so behind and still get gold so you don't need to pass him. I had a spin on one of my attempts and still only finished about .34 off of a gold time. The more pissed you get, the harder it becomes..... as you probably already know

I've only done Monza as of yet, but it only took me three laps to get he gold.
Basically, it's the same thing here as with the x car challenge at Goodwood; stay on the track, and the gold is yours.

Yeah steering sensivity on 7 and ABS on 10, TC 0 or you loose time on exit cuz TC doesnt allow you to go full power even if you press button full.
I know how it was on GT5, very very hard on Suzuka. Im sure i drove 4h there but i managed to get the gold by very little time with DS3. I was getting gray hair already, but i did it.
But practice makes perfect. You cant even afford to go a bit wide at Suzuka. You really need to get these corners perfect or you can forget it. But it can be done

I would suggest turning all your assists off except for driving line and abs 1, keep steering sensitivity up to 7, and my best advice is get a wheel, it's a lot more fun, and a million times easier to control, I can't even play gt6 with a controller, so I congratulate you on making it this far.

Still failing Suzuka due to mess ups & frustration. :banghead:

I don't understand why they put grass in between the main road and the road off course :grumpy: spins me out almost every time.

Can't afford a wheel, and I may most likely never play Gran Turismo with a wheel, as I am so used to the DS3 haha, but thanks :D
