I am getting an LG LED HD 1080P screen today; with 100Hz TruMotion, LED technology, 3.000.000:1 contrast ratio. This screen looks awesome. Plus I'll be able to connect my 360, PS2, Laptop, Blu-ray player AND my PS3 to it! It's an awesome set.

And obviously I'll have my DFGT and WSP :)
3.000.000:1 dynamic contrast ratio maybe... ;)

I'm looking at a new TV myself right now, and have pretty much settled on the SONY KDL-60LX903. I've no interest in the 3D side of things, but other family members might. Everything I have connects through my AMP so the number of HDMI sockets is a moot issue.

Should be out at the end of August, so can't wait for that :)

G25/DFGT on 42". Just bought a DFGT to try it out today. DFGT wheel feels better in GT5P, but still needs to the needs  to the quality of the G25. The pedals are going to need some slight work on resistance. I'm currently :banghead:, :ouch::ouch::ouch::ouch:, since I got a 2 year warranty, how to fix the pedals without modding.

You know what's even better? I just hooked up my laptop to my 32 inch screen, sitting half a meter away and just browsing the web...wow, 1080P resolution, it just looks awesome :)

So many people miss out on this feature, just buy a VGA cable and you're good to go. Most modern sets have this and this way you never have to walk away to look something up.

Here are some better pictures of my finished rig and the setup I have going on.
52" Phillips LCD Onkyo 5.1, G27, Ford focus seat.

An inspired setup trk29, nice one! As for the piccy of your daughter...awwww, too cute :) Reminds me of my little girl who is, er, not so little anymore as she approaches 10 and has sleepover parties where the competition seems to be "who can stay up the latest?"!

I've been looking at racing cockpits and wheel setups, but now I have seen your simple rig there, I might have to steal the plans ;)

Simple, get a squash ball and fix it between the pedals and base! OK, not the prettiest of mods, but a mate of mine has done just that and it works a treat. You can even get squash balls in a variety of squishiness levels to tailor the resistance to your liking (heavier brake for example).

I've got something new; I'm using a Fanatec Porsche GT3 RS v.2 wheel on top of having my G25. The G25 has some overheating issues, but I've got the manual and I found a website that helps me deal with the problems. I haven't gotten to try the Fanatec wheelout yet since I don't own a PS3(It's PS3 exclusive.)

What are you waiting for a ps3 and GT5 bundle?

The Fanatec Porsche GT3 RS v2 is not exclusive to PS3, it has just been made fully compatible with it that's all. Nice purchase though 👍 I like the way you can mod the clubsport pedals with various colours, and those carbon fibre paddle shifts are the schnizzle!

Here's a few pics of my WIP cockpit... 52" Sharp Aquos, Fanatec Porsche 911 Turbo S, Inverted Clubsport Pedals, Carbon Fiber Shift Paddles, Clubsport Tuning Kit...

(excuse the blurry pictures. They were taken with a mediocre camera phone)

Quite a bit of work left to do... I still need to panel, paint, add a Buttkicker, and add the center console for mounting the CS Shifter, and Touch Screen MP3 player (cockpit will have built in speakers for music, separate from game audio)

;)

^^Very nice stand those pedals look sharp. I was thinking of adding some sort of mp3 player and small speakers but I haven't thought about it to long, I really don't know where I would add them.

May I ask what size speakers your putting on there? And where your putting them? Also is your steering wheel so high that you have to look over your wheel (is it even with your wheel on your tv? The center of my wheel lines up with the center of my chest. Just wondering if I should raise it up some (would require about 1.5 hours of work to raise it up)

I was thinking of getting some travel Ipod speakers and making a holder for my ipod and putting it at the bottom of the stand under the steering wheel infront of my seat and then mounting the speakers under my steering wheel.

Indeed a nice DIY cockpit (: . GT5's coming out the same day I move (yeah, really), and in our new house we're going to have a "gaming room" complete with comfy sofa, playseat, g25, and an HD projector (the sony ones or an epson). Oh right, and a 5.1 bose surround sound system . Yay!

I haven't decided on the actual speakers yet. I will be using a 2.1 system. Probably Logitech or something similar. The speakers will be mounted on either side of the wheel tray, most likely. Again, I haven't really finalized any plans yet.

My current setup (used to use my newer 46" Sony Bravia) uses my 52", and the TV screen sits higher than the 46". So, the wheel just barely cuts into the viewing area. When I am closer to finishing the cockpit, the TV will either be moved down slightly (to match the in-game wheel, with the sim-wheel) or just replace the 52" with my 46" (the Sony has a much higher contrast ratio).

I will be hiding all the wires, as well. I'm still in the testing/trial and error phaze, so it looks a bit messy.

;)

I don't have a PS3 but I want to have one only to play GT5. I'm gonna buy me a plasma HDTV and a small home theater system...

Console:
Playstation 3 250GB + HDMI Cable

TV:
Panasonic TC-P42S2

Home theater system:
Panasonic SC-PT75 + Optical Digital Cable

is this a decent setup or what?

I'll switch between HD- and ordinary- tv, using a dualshock 3.
I couldn't find this option so i'll vote HD tv with dualshock 3.

ive got my g25 and wheelstandpro already to go, and the 40" samsung. Currently getting in the practice now on prologue in preparation for the big day!

Dualshock 2 and a 42" Sharp LCD tv here. No plans on getting a wheel, since I can't exactly put one anywhere...

I would suggest you to pick a wheel stand pro, they're not sold around here but I found a local version which is almost equal and provided the very same solution, a foldable rig which can be hidden in your closet and be set up in less than 30 seconds. It really worths the money buddy, go for it if you can.
