How is Assetto Corsa to play?

They are not all different games, GT6 uses some of the same car models that GT4 used. The comparison I'm trying to make is that GT has had all that time to add cars and tracks to the game and you were complaining that Assetto doesn't have enough cars and tracks in PREVIEW version of the game that's only been available since November.
Yes I understand you, but even if GT6 uses some car models, the only equal part is the modeling, but the physics of those cars, and the rest of the game, is different from GT4.

There's always the used market. And I'd say even a mid range wheel would do the trick. So it doesn't have to get very expensive.
I'd rather play with a controller than use a cheap wheel, everyone I know that plays racing games adviced me about this.
All I can say about GT, any GT series for that matter is the sound is horrible and nothing has changed in that department. and I'm really tired of waiting and moving on to the next best thing. Sound adds a whole nother level of immersion and PD has really dropped the ball here.
They are working on a sound patch... But anyway, i'm tired of reading this... GT sounds are not that bad for a lot of cars and from what I've heard Assetto Corsa sound are not that much of an improvement over GT. Let's not be so extreme.

About the joystick:

I use this settings with a X360 pad:

for road cars:
STEER_GAMMA=2.3
STEER_FILTER=0.94
SPEED_SENSITIVITY=0.15
STEER_DEADZONE=0 <-depends on how good or worn out is your joystick
STEER_SPEED=1

for race cars:
STEER_GAMMA=2.2
STEER_FILTER=0.94
SPEED_SENSITIVITY=0.05
STEER_DEADZONE=0 <-depends on how good or worn out is your joystick
STEER_SPEED=1

I would love to have this options in GT as well.

IMO AC with this settings is one of the best if not the best sim i have played with a joystick or a wheel.

You should join the AC support forum if you already haven't. Right now they are asking for input from controller users about settings and features you want included... pic from forum below

I am a wheel user, but it's nice to see Kunos not neglect the pad users. Lots of settings info in that thread as well.

Lol, sure if you say so. It's just the truth. The sound in AC are clearly way more advanced than anything GT has to offer. Do us a favor and just stick to GT6 while we enjoy AC. How can you play a racing simulator with a gamepad? You're obvious not too serious about summing if thats the case. I'd take a cheap wheel over a gamepad any day when it comes to driving a car in a sim.

Thats because not everyone can afford a good wheel. But first of all I have to made the gamepad work.

I disagree with almost everything you say.
First of all, have you ever heard for example the sounds of the Red Bulls in GT6?
Second, yes, simulators should be played with a wheel, BUT not everyone can afford a high quality racing wheel (G27, T500RS)... I'd say cheap wheels are crap and they're nothing like a real world wheel. So they're mostly a waste of money and an innecesary thing.

Numbers don't mean much, I also want a lot of cars but I am not gonna complain when each car feels so special to drive! Plus DLC will be on the way and modders are already working on the game.

You are looking at the wrong genre I believe, if you cannot appreciate the beauty of the physics (qraphics and sounds are more than good in my book). On the other hand driving with a keyboard or a game pad I don't know at all how much these amazing physics can translate to something so different. So if you don't taste what is like driving with a wheel in AC than you aren't going to experience the real thing thus you won't be able to understand the beauty of this game (I have to say some people with game pads love it on the AC forums).

I love AC with the X360 controller and my G27. IMO it's the best sim i've played with a controller, you have to tweak the settings to make it work right, but once you do that it's great.

About the sound, and why i like AC sounds: IMO Race07, iRacing, RRRE, pCARS, Forza, (insert name here because GT is the worst in the sound department) all have better sound than GT, it's not a matter of sound samples quality, but how the sounds are mixed. GT sound quality is very good, the samples sound great, they just don't sound like a car. Engine revving is wrong, engine rev variation during bumps in track is non existent, transmission noise is wrong, clutch is so wrong that the way the car changes gears and how it sounds while doing it is completely wrong, etc.

No need to act like a GT fanboy telling him to go away.

P.S. yes, he is wrong.

Im trying not to get involved in a Assetto vs GT argument..... but wtf ???? either your deaf or have the worlds crapiest PC speakers.

If i do then absolutely everyone who has GT5/6 except you has the worlds crapiest TV speakers :D
Surely you know the opinion of 100% of GT players.

To begin with, very very few people have 5.1 audio system on their TV, and neither do I.

Geez. I know that GT has a lot of crappy sounds of standard cars, but mostly the premiums a lot of them are not bad.

Please see these two videos

The devs are working on sounds for AC and the difference is GT has already hit v 1.0 But here is a video that closer matches Assetto Corsa! The BMW Z4 GT3 is the only one that I have done a comparison and its so close to the real car! The above video needs to allow the cars to down shift in AC, but before every turn it goes to GT. Oh and 5.1 is not fully implemented in AC. Also remember this has a std and s3 version.

So good being able to be apart of an amazing simulation so early I mean all the cars, tracks and the rbr mod joux plane is so god dam good and challenging, BMW e30 stock street tires and a few less psi and I can spend hours just cruising, occasionally powering on and touge through some bends.
all in all each track of this pre release is more memorable to me than than any track on gt6.

Really? you're defending gt's poor sounds? Not defending by making excuses for their poor sound but actually claiming they are good lol, AC's sounds are far better, Some new premium cars in gt i cant even use because the sound irritates me (and my dog barks because he thinks im getting the hoover out), And on top of that the recycle sounds between cars
