How is Assetto Corsa to play?

I'm talking about the future GT6 sound patch, which are supposed to be working on.

GT5 they didnt, does that mean GT6 wont either? I dont get this logic

I've not read about any sound patch either. But there are plenty of sound mods which you can download from the official forum.

AC will improve exponentially once they optimize the sfx samples for 5.1 systems. Already it sounds good (most cars) and the modders are already taking it a step further. In some case it sounds better, others marginal, but it is still a stop-gap until Dolby and DTS are incorporated.
Early Access releases are only optimized for 2.1 output. Some have had success with analog 5.1 setups, but optical is still 2.1. It is supposed to be sorted by v1.0.
GT vs AC in the sound department isn't even a fair fight. GT will NEVER have good sounds until system memory is allocated specifically for it. And IMO PD won't because the visuals are more important to them; plus PS3 hardware makes it difficult.
Now back OT:
V0.8.1 is nice. Driving the Ferrari 312T is wild. The turbo is alarming (as an F1 historic should be), the monster tyres and steel brakes are crazy. Well worth the time.
I also took the Lotus 240 on Joux Plane. Blast!! However it is more suited by Magione or Silverstone Intl.
Imagine that, Updates every two weeks as promised.

In my humble opinion, AC engine sound even with modders is still behind the references in the matter: Iracing and RRE/DTM, but it is also because Kunos removed all the spatial effects at the moment in the code and they said they are still working on upgrading the sound after ver.1.0, so it's not really fair to compare...
What AC need the most at the moment is more "grunt" in the engine sound itself, AC's engines sound still a tad too digital to my taste. Recently pCARS did much better in that dpt for some cars (BMW GT2 and now the Audi LMS)...
About 0.8, really great improvement on the AI!!! they are much more enjoyable to drive with...
the F412 is a monster, as expected but still you are able to tame it a bit if you are gentle with her... beware on the old Monza borders/kerbs with the Ferrari... if one tire touches these, your are out!

Don't give up!!! Yesterday's update Greatly improved the "A.I" + the "Random Button" has been replaced w/one where YOU can pick your Grid location!!! NOT sure but after limited testing I "think" that the closer you place yourself to the #1 slot, the tougher the competition will be! No proof, just a gut feeling. ...O.G.

I haven't had this much fun just running hot-laps sense Forza 4. It truly is fun, especially when you get all the settings dialed in perfect. The content does seem lacking at first, but when you just start running a car you want to run, slowly perfecting your lap, it really doesn't matter. I'll be honest I've never tried racing the AI, so I can't give any information on that. Cars feel very realistic though, especially road cars. Don't expect it to be easy!

My bad, you are correct.
. Power curve acts like it, I assumed it was. 'T' stands for Trasversale. Google is your friend.OT: Yes the AI are improved mostly. Still have the first lap/first turn cock-ups, occasionally, but it you race fair they seem to also. OG I've found that to be the case also. I usually start mid-pack and by the first turn I try to get to 3rd. Can usually track down the second place car and chase the leader. Albiet I'm only running at 97% AI strength right now. But doing a couple of the Spec. Events on 'Hard' (98% AI strength) it seems to be the same.

I never found this random button you guys speak of. I'm a total noob in AC, can someone give me exact steps to find this and where you can put yourself on the grid? Thanks in advance 👍

Once you have selected your car,the track and the AI cars, click summary.
you will see 4 choice, Session,Realism, opponents and result
Click Session, then you will see on the top right it will say Random with a cursor wih starting position.
Just under that you can also change the number of laps you want the race to be
I'm really enjoying the mini-Lotuses. The basic Elise is very fun and has a lot of character. The new Exige feels wickedly quick. These will be some of the first cars a take on the Hillclimb (next update, puh-leez?)

You're most welcome Fish for Rent! 👍 My PC build went a little quicker than planned when my old Dell desktop started acting up BUT I'm sure glad I got it finished so I could download "A.C." I could NEVER go back to GT [& I quit buying it after GT4!] now! Even w/relatively few cars & venues "A.C." is vastly more entertaining! ...O.G.

Assetto Corsa is the real deal if you want a fantastic car driving experience !
I bought Early Access first day it came out and it's been just like Christmas every other Friday ever since.
Multiplayer comes next Friday.
I've tried every single racing Game/Sim since the mid 90's and the only one's that I still use daily are Assetto Corsa and Richard Burns Rally.
Assetto Corsa is the real deal if you want a fantastic car driving experience !
I bought Early Access first day it came out and it's been just like Christmas every other Friday ever since.
Multiplayer comes next Friday.

Why do you think Assetto Corsa is the best? I would like to hear from a serious simracer why it is the best. iRacing is also very good, have you tried that so you can compare?

If you know what it feels like to drive a real car there is really just Assetto Corsa and RBR that give me a big smile and goosebumps all over. I could be hot lapping for hours and just feel how the cars behave and having a ball doing it improving my lap times. The AI cars are also getting better and better and soon we will have Multiplayer.
The good thing about iRacing is how they are managing online races, but the tracks and cars doesn't even come close to Assetto Corsa in any department which in fact is still in alpha mode. To me iRacing just felt cold and sterile and very costly. Never been a fan of oval racing anyway, I rather watch paint dry

I agree with your post, the feeling of driving the car is also superior to me in AC, does not mean that the other SIM are not nice or that they do not have something good to offer, only means that if there was only one, for me, it would be AC.
Lucky for us we can use them all. Time is really the main limitation for most of us on how many and how often we can enjoy them.👍
And Yes I have tried almost every one of them on a fairly decent set up, except for GSC, which I have heard is also very good.
Filip, if you have a good enough PC, just try it and let us know what you think, it is only about 30 Euros, I can guarantee you that if you enjoy SIM racing, this is probably the best way to spend you money right now.
If you are into SIM and only have a console, then I am sorry for you and I hope you can get a decent PC sooner than later, you will not regret that either. I can promise you that.

I tried AC on my brothers pc once and yeah I really liked it, much more realistic than gt6! I haven't tried iRacing though so I can only compare with gt5/6.

FYI -I used to have an iRacing account but I stopped using it as soon as Assetto Corsa Early Access came out.
And don't forget, that anything that is half as good as Assetto Corsa is awesome, including iRacing

Just to chime in here. I also feel AC is superior in regards to iracing, but I will say iracing has taken big steps with this latest build they just released. There version of the z4 gt3 is very good and almost feels like ac in a way. I had a race last night at cota in a 39 car field and it was probably one of the best sim races I've ever had when it comes to sheer fun.
