I actually can't recall the year I started playing Gran Turismo. I am guessing soon after it's (GT1's) release as a friend of mine badgered me into having a go, despite my intense protestations that I don't like driving games!.

I tried it first as an emulation on my PC but didn't take to the interface very well and caved in and bought a PS1. I have been hooked ever since (the disappointments of GT5 being a low point), playing thousands of hours with imaginary cars :D.

I'm knocking on the doors of my fifth decade now but I know I'm not the most 'mature' of the GT racers we have here - Dotini has the edge on me for one I believe?

I´m 28, (like 196 in dog years). Been playing Gran Turismo since 1998. I have had every main Gran Turismo, including GTPSP and GT5P. I have so many good memories with this game. I quitted playing videogames, the day that my parents didn´t get me a Nintendo 64. Since that day, I said that I would dedicate my life to study and adult things. But suddenly I see this guy playing a demo on a Video Game store. I remember... Clubman Stage 5 was the name of the track, a Corvette GS was the car. Me, being a car crazy guy, could´t ignore that. I went in and tried it. I was amazed by the graphics and gameplay... A year later, my mom was good enough to get me a PS1 with Gran Turismo included. That was the happiest day in my life. Afew months after that, in my local Block Buster Video, I saw this black PS1 game box that read Gran Turismo 2. I rented that thing like for a month non-stop(I pretty much spent the whole cost of the game).

A couple of months later, my aunt came from the US, and brought me GT2. I can´t describe how much I enjoyed that game. It´s safe to say that´s the Gran Turismo that I most remember for the good moments it gave me, and for the things I learned thanks to it. Played the game for the next years, until... Walking down the mall, in the same store were I saw GT1 demo years ago, there it was... I remember this awsome "HD" graphics... In Deep Forest, he was racing. In a blue Nissan Skyline GTR V-Spec R34... Gran Turismo 3, the game was called... I decided after playing GT2 for a long time, that I was going to get away from videogames again... But that game...

Next week, with some savings I had, I purchased Gran Turismo 3. It cost 98 US dollars (We use US dollars here in my country. And yes, games are expensive here). But couldn´t afford the great PS2, since it was around 900 dollars. After contemplating GT3´s box for around six months, christmas came. Fortunatly, my birthday is in mid December, so I negotiated only one global present for that year with my mom. The PS2 was all mine! I couln´t believe my eyes, that game was incredible!

Years passed, and out came GT4... This time, I didn´t see or hear any news on it. It just appeared out of no were... Got the game without even seeing it previously. Just the intro made me cry of pure joy, enough said...

Years and years passed... PS3 came out, and this time, I didn´t loose any time. Being a grown up, with a job of my own, thankfully I could afford the whooping 1000 dollars that my still running 40GB PS3 was worth. Story short, GT5P came out, purchased it, waited alot, GT5 came out and got it on release day.

And here I am today, with a Game Cube, two PS2´s, a PSP and a PS3, with a library of almost 100 games.
Thanks to Gran Turismo, I know what a Nissan Skyline or a Chaparral is. Thanks to Gran Turismo, I now how dropping down the corkscrew at 100mph feels. Thanks to Gran Turismo, I can enjoy the thing that I can´t enjoy in real life...Thanks to Gran Turismo, not only I learned alot about my passion, but awakened another passion, wich are video games...

I'm 13, I received GT1 in the first year I was born, I couldn't even walk yet I managed to play GT1 and finish most of it. When I was a little older I asked my parent's to get me GT2, then GT3. I actually got GT4 myself, as I was old enough then. Around 6 to 8. I managed to finish everything except mission 34! After I knew they was nothing left for me to do in GT4 I went and bought myself a PS3 when it came out. I actually spent my first months on GTA4, then I spent a year on LittleBigPlanet, became a VERY good level maker on that game, I also made some very high detail cars. I then kept playing that, and other games and demo's until GT5, which I now have, and am enjoying so far.

Well, I was 60 just over 2 weeks ago. I bought the original Playstation and GT a while after it was released. There was a big TV in the doorway of a Games shop locally and they had GT on pretty much every time I went past.

I have got every PS1 and PS2 issue of the GT games... for all regions. I also have the UK, US and Japanese versions of Prologue. I downloaded HD Concept onto my US PS3 the other day (my UK one died a while ago)

I have indulged in the hybrid side of things with GT1, 2 and 3. I played with the F1 cars in Concept by using an Action Replay. I have Tourist Trophy as well of course... for all regions!

GT4 was the real nightmare with six regional variations. Getting the Japanese version of that forced me to get a Japanese spec (Asian) PS2 to play the game until the English language versions were released. The last release of GT4 was the Korean one which had the Hyundais and IS200 GT1 that appear in GT5. If I could ever find Action Replay codes for that version I could make an all car save.

Started with gt1 back in 1998 or when it was released in europe. I did read some articles about it in some playstation magazines (still have those magazines!) and I just had to get it. I've been into racing games since I ever got my first console (nes) and I think about 80% of all my psx games were racing games.

We had a group of friends who were all car nuts and we would do splitscreen races with our tuned cars. We each had our favourite cars we liked to drive. We used to visit our friends and take our memory cards with us.

Then I got gt2. And shortly after I got my first computer and basically dropped psx and started sim racing on my pc. Did almost finish gt2 though.

Didn't get ps2 until 3 years ago. Bought gt3 and gt4 but didn't really play them. Played some gt4 but gt3 was left almost untouched. Having been playing with a steering wheel on my pc I no longer could get the enjoyment out of playing with the controller. Sold the ps2 after just month of use. I think I never learned how to use the analogic controller. Even in gt4 I used the d-pad and x and o buttons and hated the way you had to pres those buttons so hard to get 100%.

Then recently I wanted to check the new consoles and got xbox360 for forza3 and ps3 for gt5. So in a way I was harcore gt player at one point but became hardcore pc sim racer pretty quickly.

19 here. Got started with the series back when the PS2 came out with GT3 in a bundle. Played that casually, but loved the game because I love cars so much. Then I got GT4 on the day it came out and that's when I seriously got into it. The rest it history as they say.

I am 39 and i have been playing the GT series since GT3 although I have been playing racing games and sims since the 80's. From Pole Position in the arcade to Al Uncer Jrs Arcade racing, NASCAR racing 1 and 2 (note in 1996 they had adjustable air pressure, weight distribution, and wheel lock along with custom paint jobs and decals), Indycar racing 1 and 2.

So you can see I was excited to see that they added NASCAR and Indy to GT5 but really without longer races on more ovals, flags, and big wrecks with damage that matters it is got a long way to go to meet even 96's standards despite the modern graphics. Missing this stuff is like having the Indy 500 without Indy cars.... oh wait..

Ill add that I do love the game even with all the flaws and it hasnt left my ps3 since release date punting other unfinished games(sorry fallout new vegas). I actually bought my ps3 because of this game alone.

Im 21 and Ive been playing since GT1. I remember seeing a demo of it at Best Buy and my brothers and I begged my mom to buy it for us. GT3 was the first game I got when I got a PS2, but I had no memory card so I would have to start over from scratch every time I wanted to play

Until a few weeks ago, I wasted countless rotten years on crappy games.:gtpflag:
(Besides dirt 2, and the early years with nes)👍

33 yrs old, first gt. 4,xxx miles. I need help :banghead:

34 here. I bought the original GT shortly after it was released and knew nothin about it prior to purchasing it. I took it over to a friends house and we had all of our friends there, great times.

I'm 19 and my first Gran Turismo game was Gran Turismo 2. It's also my favorite one out of all of them.
I started out playing Grand Prix Legends, Need for Speed III, and Nascar Racing 1999 Edition on the PC with a Gravis joystick. Ah.. the 90's. I was one lucky kid. I actually still play Grand Prix Legends on occasion.. such a great sim. I also play GT2 on my PS3 once in a while as well.
