I am 39 and i have been playing the GT series since GT3 although I have been playing racing games and sims since the 80's. From Pole Position in the arcade to Al Uncer Jrs Arcade racing, NASCAR racing 1 and 2 (note in 1996 they had adjustable air pressure, weight distribution, and wheel lock along with custom paint jobs and decals), Indycar racing 1 and 2.

So you can see I was excited to see that they added NASCAR and Indy to GT5 but really without longer races on more ovals, flags, and big wrecks with damage that matters it is got a long way to go to meet even 96's standards despite the modern graphics. Missing this stuff is like having the Indy 500 without Indy cars.... oh wait..

Ill add that I do love the game even with all the flaws and it hasnt left my ps3 since release date punting other unfinished games(sorry fallout new vegas). I actually bought my ps3 because of this game alone.

that's also my reason for buying ps3... lolz

I'm 21, and I've been playing the GT series since when I started playing GT1. I also played GT4 and now finally I have GT5.

To compare my play style towards the GT series back then, I can say that I'm more serious right now in GT5 than I was in back then. In GT4 I was semi serious, but now that I have my wheel, I'm really enjoying the full simulation experience.

I'm 21 years old, and I had actually only played GT2 very briefly as a kid before going through a racing game hiatus, and then returning for GT5.

24.
Started GT1 back in 1998. The first time I played it was when I was looking at a demo booth for Playstation. I selected this racing game. Didn't pay attention to the name, but the game was cool, seemed realistic and the replay was cool as hell.
When my dad got me my PlayStation, he allowed me to pick 2 games. I picked Crash Bandicoot, and then the next one, I remembered that game, but forgot the name. So I said I'll pick a racing game. The girl grabbed this game that caught my eye. The logo, the covered car with the dark background. It just stood out, right away without a second thought I picked it up.

Came home, started it up, and the game was amazing, never played a game like that before. Funny thing is that the demo disk that came with my PlayStation had the exact same demo.

I played the hell out of it.

Most exciting moment was when I saw this trailer:

GT2 was amazing and I was keeping track of that game for a long time. I was happy with that game when it came out.

GT3, I saw screenshots, and vids, but when I finally popped it in my PS2.. That intro made my jaw drop to the floor. I didn't play it as much as the other games though. I never made it past beginner. I guess I was too preoccupied.

WHen GT4 was comming out, the wait made me lose some interest, but then I heard about online was looking forward. But then online was cancelled. Thats when Forza was announced and did everything GT had yet to do. GT4 came out and it was alittle bittersweet.

I played it for a few days then didn't bother anymore. Dont know what happened to my memory card, but crazy thing is that my brother played the hell out of it and I didn't even think he cared for the game. All the licenses were finished too lol.

I recently been playing GT4 to pass the wait for GT5 to come out. Til' now.

Since GT4, I stopped caring for the series. Felt it would be another disappointment. That was until I heard of it's new features and FINALLY! Damage. Seemed like it was comming back with a punch. Still, it's like it overlapped Forza but then stopped like a foot front he finish like to tie it's shoes.

Despite it's shortcommings though. I'm enjoying it. Haven't felt so into a GT game since GT2. It's harder now though than when I was a kid.

Back then I had more time.

Damn, seems almost everyone here been playing over a decade. Myself I just started two weeks ago with GT5 and I have never played any of the earlier games for some reason. Guess im doing pretty good though, improving by the day and occasionally get a win in online racing, which now I am proud of considering many opponents probably played as long as you guys :)

45. Been playing since GT4.

I've been video gaming since the Pong days of yesteryear. Then when computers were introduced it was flight sims. Then I bought Indy 500 by Papyrus and became hooked on racing sims. Then by chance I got SCGT (By ISI) which came with a video card I bought for my computer around '96 or so and that got me even more into racing, buying a wheel/pedals, etc. Up to now have been enjoying rFactor (can't wait for 2.0), iRacing, and a bit of Live for Speed.

But NOW... GT5 has taken over almost all of my game time. I so am looking forward to new DLC that will come from PD.

Note: I still really love flight sims and Apache Air Assault is a new gorgeous, fun yet arcadish helicopter sim that I fly when I need a break from GT5.

I'm 16 (17 in a few weeks). Been playing since GT1 own all the games minus GT4 Prolouge. Can't get enough and now i own the car that I always started each game with when possible, the 4th gen Honda Prelude.

i'm 25, been playing GT1 and GT2 when they were released, but never had a PS2, so i skipped GT3 and GT4.

I still have my GT1 poster on the wall :P

30.

Been playing since day 1 (1996 was it?), I've bought all Gran Turismo games the day they came out, and bought a PS3 when GT5 Prologue was released. My fav was GT3, spent so much time with that game and still have great memories of it. I was on a website that listed peoples lap times, so I ran time trial mode a lot!

I never really got into GT4 for some reason, think it was cos I was into the 360 at the time, but GT5 is potentially gonna go down as better than GT3 for me if it keeps being this good!

Im 28 and i have owned GT1 , GT2 , GT3 , GT4 , GT Prologue and GT5. I have played other racing games and nothing comes close to GT its still the best and always will be imo.

Hello, I'm 29 and playing the game since GT1 cames out.
It was the greatest game I ever seen at that moment.
My favorite car at GT1 to get started was the mitsubishi GTO.
Then I bought also GT2, GT3(98%), GT4 Prologue, GT4(92.1%), GT5 Prologue and GT5 now.

34 and playing since GT1. Loved everyone of them, but with my bad hand-eye co-ordination, the "better" and more realistic the game became, the more sucky I've gotten. Still love every second of it, tho. :)

P.S. With jobs and family and my bad bad skills, I've come to enjoy B-Spec.

Hello, I'm 29 and playing GT1 from 1998, my favorite car at "the beginning" was the mitsubishi GTO. It was the best game I have ever seen and that moment. Then I bought also GT2, GT3(98%), GT4 Prologue, GT4(92.1%), GT5 Prologue and the last GT5.
The things I've missed in GT5 are the 400M and top speed test, because I hoped it wouldbe getting with online results, more damage & premium cars.

I'm 34 and playing since GT1. And then GT2 (finished), GT3 (finished), GT4 (about 80%) and now finally GT5. Great series :)

I'm 47.
I bought a PS2 to play GT4 during 5 years (reached 90% of the game).
I just bought a PS3 + GT5 at launch time.

Enjoying it every day :)

25 here and picked up GT1 the first week it was out. Own (yes still have all my original copies) all of them including Tourist Trophy and the PSP game. Wish us Americans got the concept games.

I'm 29 (30 tomorrow) and I play since GT3. Before that i've seen GT1 & 2 in some friends house and played with them a little.

The real habit was since GT3.

I'm 16 been playing since GT2 never played GT1 because I was only 4 when it came out and never played GT4 because my PS2 couldn't read the disc :( GT5 is going great, finally got the X1 using my DS3, it was a pain in the 🤬
