Recently I had participated in the nations cup 2020 round three and I had finished the race in 9th place with no penalties. But when the placements were finalized, it said I had a 2 minute penalty and I lost 8 positions and got 17th place. I’m very upset because I didn’t get the points for that round that I should have gotten. Does anyone know what it takes for someone to get a 1 minute penalty??

Gran Turismo Sport's online modes were turned off in January:

Ok, this is absolutely infuriating....in the Nations Cup, I was unable to compete for round 1-3, but I competed in Round 4, and raced 4 races (my highest finish got me about 68 points) in the GT2 category...but no points have shown up yet. Then this past weekend (July 14th race), I was involved in 3 races and my top finish was a second place, which earned me about 62 points...but on my status page no points are showing up?!?! WTF!! It does say "Position After Round 5 (Current Number of Valid Rounds: 2)"...but I am still only seeing zeros on my board!?!? What is going on...this is soooo frustrating...it doesn't mention ANYTHING in the rules or regulations of the races about why my points aren't being counted or showing up...what the hell is going on?! Pls let me know what I'm doing wrong, thank-you!

Well... there's a few things.

Firstly, this is a GT Sport forum. As my message above yours states, this game's online services were shut down in January 2024, so it's not able to host online races. Additionally its last Nations Cup series was in 2021.

GT7 is running online series, but the Nations Cup isn't among them. There's a Manufacturers Cup Exhibition Season, but that has only just started and is only four races long.

I'm assuming therefore that what you're racing in is the Toyota Gazoo Racing Gran Turismo Cup, which had a round using Super Formula cars on Sunday?

Whatever it is, this is the issue:

Your "top finish" isn't relevant. The only race that counts towards your points for a round is your last one - even if you quit or disconnected and scored zero. And this is quite clearly stated in the rules:

3. Effective Points

In this championship, you will earn points after each race according to your finishing position in the race. The points gained are determined automatically by the average Driver Rating of all drivers matched in that race. The overall ranking is based on an effective points system. At the end of Round 7, the scores from your three best rounds will be counted. Please note, while you may join multiple race slots in a round, only the points from the last race entered will count.

For example:

• After three rounds, the points from the best round will represent the final score.
• After six rounds, the points from the two best rounds will be tallied for the final score.
• After all seven rounds, the points from the three best rounds will be tallied for the final score.

(Half numbers will be rounded up.)
