I believe I am experiencing anxiety disorder, depression, and some problems along the lines of mental health issues. Or maybe not because I don't think my self diagnosed method is a hundred percent correct.

Every night, I struggle to fall asleep because I can't stop thinking about the next day, or just thinking about stuff in general. I worry too much. Everyday feels dark and gloomy to me. I am one of them who doesn't mind the world ending by the end of this year.

So, the other day, I went to the local clinic and was hoping the doctor could provide me with some help or maybe advice for depression. As soon as I mentioned the word, he told me he isn't a qualified physician for those kind of sickness, you have to go to a hospital to see a specialist, blah blah blah.

So, my question is, how do I obtain pills for treating mental health? Can I get them from the pharmacy? Are they controlled drugs?

Thanks :scared:

You cant get them from the pharmacist, you need to get in touch with a specialist so they can give you the correct medication. It shouldnt be too hard to find a specialist im sure your GP could recommend you one if you ask, or maybe an internet search of metal health clinics in your local area could find you someone relevant to talk to....

Obviously you need someone to actually diagnose you with something, they won't just hand out pills.
I would have thought that this was obvious, but apparently not.

Get checked out. If you need meds, they'll prescribe you meds. Fill prescription. Pills obtained.

There are natural supplements to that may help your condition too. I know St. John's Wort is supposed to be a natural anti-depressant, I tried it prior to getting actual medication and it seemed to help a little bit. Be wary though results are different with everyone and as always it's best to ask a pharmacist about interactions.

As for sleeping I've been taking Melatonin for a little while now and I can honestly say my quality of sleep is improved and I don't ever wake up during the night. My head hits the pillow and I'm out. This also gives me more energy during the day because I had a proper rest the night before.

Just some suggestions.

St John's Wort tends to work on very mild depression cases. My partner suffers from rapid cycling bi-polar manic depression, and only very, very strong medication works. You need to get yourself properly assessed at diagnosed before you can be medicated. In the UK, you have to get a referral from your GP to a mental health specialist.

Please don't ever self-medicated with depression, you have every chance of making things ten times worse.

Ditto. Go to a doctor. Get a proper prescription. Self-medication is a terrible idea. Just ask Michael Jackson...

thanks for the feedback everyone, now I know what I should do, I'll try to get this St John's wort thing
