How you would honestly feel if PD included Karting in GT5?

Karting or motorcycles, I'm voting for it as it would be marvelous fun. But then their physics engine should be much more advanced than it is now and steering ratio for every vehicle has better be right finally.

I am sure many of us will then complain about wind noise being too much.

Go-Karts are the most visceral form of race-car. Unassisted steering, unassisted brakes, nothing between you and the tarmac but the thin plastic shell of the kart's seat.

It's telling that Senna, Schumacher, Hamilton and many others started as Kart champions... and it's one of the most popular forms of motorsports around the world. Serious go-karts are faster, point-to-point, than most sportscars.

Not to mention many of the professional drivers still kart today as they find it excellent training - far better than a lower Formulae car. You experience more of the same forces as an F1 car.

I would love to have karts on GT5

Like I said 6 months ago: :)

It would be nice to have go-karts with the great physics of GT5 :)
First, so many professional drivers started their career in go-karts, it is fun and a good school
Second, for most of us mere mortals it would be the opportunity to compare the game with the real world, anyone can rent a kart and go on a track for very little money and give it a try.

Why not just include everything, delay the game even more, and dilute the whole experience even further? Could even do extreme ironing while driving them...

"How would you feel if PD included Karting"... not "How do you feel about GT5 being delayed." There are enough threads for bellyaching elsewhere in the forum... ;)

I'd love to see karting in GT5, along with other lower level formulae which produce great racing and can teach you a lot. 👍

Which contemporary racing driver hasn't cut his racing teeth in karting at some level?
Alex Yoong. :ill:

That would actually be pretty fun. Though not on full length circuits... Imagine a kart race on the 'Ring :nervous:

There would have to be mini circuits i reckon, i think tracks like Tsukuba would be perfect though.

It would be fun indeed, but I would just find it odd. Don't know why, I just would. The title should be changed to GT6 instead of GT5. I doubt at this point they will have time to include Karting. Couldn't care less for a delay myself, though. Gives me more time to buy a PS3.

Thrilled.

Driving Go karts are soo much fun. The fastest I ever driven wre the ones that hit 60MPH max. Wooo what a blast that was.

With those you mostly keep a constant speed feeling the G Force as you turn.

But now that I think about it, I dont think I will get the same feeling while playing that in GT5. its just going to seem like im just drving a slow car.

Meh who knows.

On a serious not I think they would be a blast as long as you aren't racing a car.:nervous:

Yeh that would be silly, the Kart would be much faster than most of the cars in GT.....

And? Who's talking about the history of racing here? I made a point about Senna, nothing more to add, so don't try and be clever.

You made a point trying to proclaim your hero as something.... There is absolutely nothing special about Ayrton Senna doing Karting so there's no need to bring his name up or any other driver thats made it for that matter.

It would be a blast, especially for online play. The Karts would be in a pile at every first corner at the start every race. :scared:👍

Karting would be an amazing edition. A couple of of outdoor tracks and some indoor cicuits too. Many international tracks have karting tracks located around or in the centre of the circuit so making environments shouldn't be too difficult to achieve. It would be another feature that would lure me towards buying a PS3 in order to play GT5.

You're not wrong!

Just grasping at straws here but maybe that is where they can get 70 variations out of 20 tracks. Karting track variations whithin larger tracks? I think it would be an awesome addition to the game!

how about these?

they are Superkarts. They can do 140 MPH. I once got the opportunity to drive one of these last November and let me tell you, I loved it, but my neck hated it, thus ending any chances to race in F1. Oh well, GT racing is where i'm going anyway.

The Top Gear track, (said to be included) could have quite a few variations, being an old airfield strip.

As was nearly every racing driver thats ever existed in the past 40 years  doesn't make it that special.

They would have to implement brand new tracks so it will never happen. A Kart on a fully fledged race track is silly.

I'm not having a go at the OP but you've got to think about the bigger picture.

A short lesson in GTs history:

The track is missing from GTPs GT2 track list guide!

There are enough potential Kart tracks.

Karts would be great fun.

I race 'em and I think if PD could nail the handling they would be a great addition to the series.

I'd love to take my 100J around motorland :)

I don't think GT would simulate Karts as well as some of the other games have done, like Mario Kart for instance

<joke>

Karts, massive fun in real life.. but, going on TOCA 3, i would be one of my least favourite disciplines to do on a game.

Why wouldn't cart racing work for the ring ? Or am I mistaken and we were talking about those gokarts, you can rent for 10 minutes in a hangar filled with some old tires and plastic fences to form a track ?

Real kart racing would be fun, they're fast, light and agile, can't think of a way they couldn't be fun.

"How would you feel if PD included Karting"...
Given how slow carts typically go, and given how most of the tracks are designed for racing actual cars on them, I think it would be a complete waste of time.

Kart racing is immense fun in real-life, I used to race 100cc jobbies for my school, but I have never, ever enjoyed any previous attempts at Kart racing in-game.

Edit: Unless it had Mario in the title ;)

I would hate it. For me Gran Turismo is mostly about the road cars and with the inclusion of Nascar & WRC I feel the emphasis is edging further away from cars most of us actually have a chance of driving. Having said that its a bit of a catch 22 with me because I'm very happy about WRC being in GT5 but I couldn't be less interested in Nascar and the same goes for karts. Don't get me wrong I love going karting for real but I personally don't think there is any place for it in Gran Turismo.

You know go-karts (proper competition ones, not purpose built ones) hold the lap records at a lot of international racing tracks.

Honestly, if karting was included in Gran Turismo 5, I'd be very happy. Go-karts are the simplest purpose-built racing machines. I was thinking of kart racing for at least License Tests or for on-the-side racing. So put me in the category of people who would be thrilled to see this.

Another thing about karting (at least from tracks), I've heard of go-kart tracks making good drift courses. Only Motor Sports Land from GT2 is the only kart-style track in Gran Turismo history. It would be a track to see in GT5 unless Motor Sports Land was succeeded by MotorLand.
