back when they used to race them, the less body the lighter the car was, you raced with the bare minimum needed to go faster, its like backwoods racing, you bring what you have, remember this was not racing from yesterday.
Ow ok, i was actually hoping for a full bodied hudson hornet, but this is fine i guess.

Racing was not so pretty until engineers started to understand aerodynamics and people like Dan Gurney changed the game.

They have "people" recording the sounds? :odd: then what do they do with the recordings? throw them away and use messed up samples that sound terrible?

I have read the book about GT4P published by Famitsu, in the interviews of which a man (maybe the sound chief) said, "We don't use real sounds because they are so loud that they could break TV speakers, and the sound of the Motor Triathlon Race Car is actually based on that of the Prius."

Actually, the more Hudson from that time the better.

Does anyone else find it frustrating that they're going to give us this car but no proper dirt ovals (or short-track paved ovals) to race it on? "Here's Mario Andretti's first race car for you to enjoy, but you won't be able to enjoy it on any kind of circuit resembling what it was actually raced on."
Quite. And nor can you race it against any other cars even remotely similar that he would have raced it with. That said though, a new car is a new car, and it's an interesting new car which I will drive, enjoy and won't complain about. It's a whole lot better than some of the dlc cars from GT5 like the Nissan Leaf or the Mini Countryman.

I didn't read every post so far. Excuse my probable copy cat post. I'm hoping for a proper dirt track oval to run it on. I also hope it's open to run other cars on.

I'm for sure happy to have it, but it's presence turns a wide eye to the glaring lack of oval tracks in the game. I certainly hope this opens doors for future cars and partnerships, it can only lead to good things. 👍

It would be better if we can change the colors and numbers on the hudson hornets so we can at least race them together

...Well, actually that could be pretty interesting.

Mario Andretti's Hudson wasn't a Hornet (though the replica was made from one because the Hornet was just a mild face lift). They didn't come 'round until '51. His original car was probably one of these.

Hudson Super Six Business Coupe '48
Hudson Super Six Club Coupe '48
Hudson Commodore Cub Coupe '48

They featured the same aircraft inspired unit body design and similar six cylinder engine made famous by the Hornet. I wonder what engine the GT6 model will have. I didn't see much about the power plant in the videos but I would guess it's just a rebuilt '51 with race exhaust.

1948 Flathead Straight Six
Displacement: ......262 CI (4,293cc)
Power:.................121 HP

1951 Flathead Straight Six
Displacement:.......308 CI (5,047cc)
Power:.................145 HP

1951 Flathead Straight Six (w/dealer installed Twin H-Power)
Displacement:.......308 CI (5,047cc)
Power:.................170 HP

A properly built engine was good for over 200 HP in the 50's. That car could be pretty fun if we can hot rod it.

...48 Hudson Sportsman is a designation for a class of Stockcars that raced in the early days of NASCAR sanctioned races. The 48 body was powered by a Hornet engine. The Andretti brothers and others used Hudson bodied race cars to begin thier careers. Hudson legend and engine designer Bernie Siegfried prepared Hudson bodied and powered circle track cars for racing on KS and MO dirt tracks. Most of the small block crowd would not race a Hudson powered car and on some tracks the Siegfried prepared cars were...BANNNED... because they won all the races.

So is it possible that it was a 1948 body, powered by a Hornet engine?

I just remembered that Willow Springs has a dirt oval. As PD has scanned all the layouts of Willow Springs, there might be a chance we'll get the dirt oval along with the Hudson.

Very interesting. I guess it would make sense if it had a 50's Hornet engine then, not to mention the bigger lump would be more fun. So maybe it should be called -

Hudson Sportsman '59
Hudson Sportsman Mario Andretti #7 '59
Hudson Coupe Race Car '48
Hudson Coupe LM Race Car '48

Whatever it is it will definitly have lots of character.

Two scenario:

1)
They find the car
They rebuild the car for Mario
Mario is reunited
The engineering and sound team scan the car and draw the car for GT6 in ONE week for release on Dec 19!

2)
The find two cars
One is build up months ago and then scanned. For inclusion into GT6.
Just for the show, they build the second "Hornet" in front of our eyes.
They say they scan the car for GT6 , to fool us that they can design a premium car in under a week?!?

Someone tell me which scenario was the real one?

If 1) is true, great!!
If 2) is true, Meh, half impressed.

PS: i find it funny the image of an old man trying to fit on a white suit and slipping back into his old red first love LOL...

You can Add a Supercharger and Nitrous + Any tire that's about it .

Weird thing when you look at the Suspension the Standard set up for the ride height is....

220 Front , 160 Rear ? , oh it's also got only 3 gears

152Bhp after a Oil change or 208BHp with a supercharger

Oh yeah for gods sake don't buy one you can win it in a speciail seasonal for the car by getting Bronze

It's 500,000cr otherwise in the Dealerships

GT fans! For the last few weeks, many of you visited www.gt6firstlove.com and shared your incredible First Love stories and also helped rebuild Andretti’s first race car that started his entire career, the 1948 Hudson.

Well the moment is finally here as Chapter 3 “The Reunion” video captures the magical moment when Mario Andretti sees and drives the rebuilt Hudson for the first time in over 50 years. Without giving too much of the spoilers away, the video also shows the intricate and detailed process that Polyphony Digital goes through in recreating the classic Hudson into GT6, including data capturing, 3D scanning, and sound recording of the engine at all ranges of the RPM. Following this, Mr. Andretti himself relives his First Love driving experience in the rebuild Hudson.

To properly celebrate the collaboration between Mario Andretti and Gran Turismo, a unique Special Event featuring the 1948 Hudson is available in GT6 from today, 12/19 to 01/17. The 1948 Hudson Superlap challenge will take place on Willow Springs International Raceway “Streets of Willow”, giving players the opportunity to be rewarded with the legendary race car upon conquering set lap times above a Bronze Trophy target Players will also have the option to purchase the legendary Hudson through the Car Dealership if they so choose.

“Gran Tursimo is a legendary franchise with gamers and car enthusiasts which makes it a perfect fit,” explains the legendary race car driver, Mario Andretti. "Racing has been my lifelong passion and gave me an incredible career. When we first started discussing the 'GT6 First Love Campaign,' it brought back memories of some of the most defining moments of my life and I’m so pleased to share them with GT fans. PlayStation gave me the opportunity to remember my ‘first love’ and to revisit what it felt like to be a young man taking that old Hudson around the track. I’m really happy fans are enjoying my story and sharing stories about their own first loves.
