Angel Creator, I failed too, I don't know if we can't load max file from cd. I try to copy max file to PCSX2 memory card, but failed to make it opened in armax. I try to create crushed save in PCSX2, but failed too.

That's sad, well it was just an idea.

Since I am curious about hacking similarity between GT2 and GT4, I try some of my GT4 hybrid knowledge into GT2, and the result is interesting, I can finally equip both turbo and NA upgrade on Civic on garage. And it seems NA and turbo in GT2 do not change car sounds, but muffler do.

You have never equip both a turbo and NA tuneup before? I have done that a
few time's for some good horsepower, like on the Alfa 156 2.5 V6.

I see your oddity picture, it seems the wing code create more problem when activated, maybe I should add check code. I am confuse for a moment when you say your post is updated with picture link but I don't see it. After a while I notice that your picture link would not showed up when I am logged in, I have it now. Weird problem, maybe vbulletin (this forum software) store every post update and forget to refresh it for my login...............

It really nice that some of the car works . It seems the sound hooked to the car engine not to any upgrade. The car that works has engine and engine upgrade pair, although there is some compatibility problem.

*Compatibility?Like what?Anyway,what i felt with the beat was that the revving sound was a little higher than the stock nsx(i driven one before the hybrid,just to notice if the car sound were different),but i dunno if that's true.
But this fact that only some cars work makes me more certain of the corruption of cars in the save file extraction process.Could you fo something for me?For the next save,take note of the first 3 cars you buy.It's just to see if there's any relation.

I don't know how to add credit in GT4 yet, but I will try to fully equip the car. If I can't find where the fully equip code yet, I will buy at least tranny, tire and full suspension upgrade manualy first.

About hidden car, I don't know. some car may use the same car body code. there is 730 different car and 730 body code. Is 730 is the number of car available?

I don't know,but i'm willing to bet that the final count ain't that number...it's a guess i have...

About making special car ordinary, I think it can be done. I just don't know what it's limitation yet. What is the limitation of that car?

BTW,someone mentioned the paint and stuff,i was thinking about that in school today,and i remembered that there was a rumour about some option to paint cars in the begginning,but the programers took it out.Does anybody know anything about this?
What i thought after that is,we've seen some games with hidden/deleted stuff getting revived by game shark codes (GTA SA hot coffee,GT3 and GT2 hidden cars).Do you think that we could search for that in GT4?

Cars with teh open tag,they open in the garage.Cars with no tag,corrupted.
It's interesting how the first 3 cars and last 2 work.In the last save,it was the first 2 and the last one on the list.

The primera crashes the game :(
Z300ZX works - the car is wonderful,i dunno what engine sound it has,but it's beautiful.And teh transmission is a 5 speed i guess.For this one i will post a video.Weird thing about the transmission is that in the setting menu,it only has a setting for the first gear.Only after moving the auto setting the other 4 gears appear.And the auto setting is 1.
Now,the silvia.The engine is from a SZ-R?Anyway,it's definitly a supra engine.all that wheel spin gotta be from one lol.I'll post a video in a second.
The CRX and GS are the same of the other save right?

Suca,for the next save,could you try this?Ok,in this save you have twelve cars,4.5 of them work(the primera crashes the game lol).Try this,buy any twelve cars.5 of them specific ones.for example,a primera with silvia stats,a Citroen C3 with 4wd,a fiat punto with supra stats,some cars that you would like to try.The rest are 'filling cars'.Select them and save them in order so the first 3 cars and last 2 are the 'chosen ones' and in between that are the filling ones.Let's see if we can get around this corruption thing.(Yeah,i was a little 'tendencious'(dunno if this exists lol) in the cars i've said...they're just old wishes...lol)

Wow, been a while since I checked this out - good stuff, I'mma test this out asap. I have some helpful (maybe) info for the NTSC ppl, since I noticed the savegames are PAL.

This shows how to change a San Andreas save from NTSC to PAL, but the process is the same vice-versa, and for gt4 - just change the internal gamedata filename to BASCUS-97328...leave the rest the same. Testing As I type... I'm using the latest (current) lowrider.max converted to NTSC specs...

first instance, the ROOT/ID, then the actual file (232KB size), both should match.
The SCES-XXXXX is the PAL id and the SCUS-XXXXX is the NTSC id.

I downloaded the NTSC savegame and looked at the file and got the SCUS#, alternately you can get the id# from the disc, or if you're like me - that white sticker that goes on the side of the game when new - I put mines on diagonally on the cover (so I know its mine), that white sticker has the SCUS-xxxxx id, in this case was SCUS-97328 (same as one the save file, cd, etc). Hope someone finds this usefull (might help if you're trying to read PAL saves in a NTSC game and Vice-Versa).

PS. The tool in the faq is PS2 Save Builder (I'm using v0.8)

UPDATE2: Game Locks up, starts to load - then freezes. Tried loading it from the 2nd memory slot in arcade mode, locks up... I'll try another savegame (other one w/ less cars).

Yes I heard about this too, but I tried it myself and with some cars they sound normal:).

I will add more car to current save and please see if previously working car become corrupted. Maybe the way I save the game make it corrupted.

That would be nice :). But can you empty your garage first? since any car being used will not accessible from PCSX2 (like the case of 981 garage gamesave). I think only car that never used will work in PCSX2. I could use NTSC gamesave too if anyone has it.

Yes a picture of in game race, not replay, chase view. Maybe with "view from cockpit code" too... (armax code posted on the first page of this thread). And can you make video of any hybrid car that bounce a lot?

I would be cool if there are custom painting. I think there is some spot that should be the place for that. But I think we need to know how to utilize it first.

Well,i can't empty that garage,it has like 700 cars there lol,it would take forever.What i can try(Try because my copy has problems in creating new files,i have to have a save file already in the memory card) to do is to create a new save file and put all the cars there.Or i can buy the cars and send the 700 cars file(i think i have never used special cars).

I know that the PAL version has like 8 cars or so that don't exist in the nstc version,they're bonus cars.For example,the esso supra doesn't exist in NSTC version.And by that count,there's one engine that doesn't have a chassis...that one is certainly hidden,and in both versions,right?

I will try to find out cars that can't have NOS,and try some to find the highest NOS value.I'm thinking about R34,corvettes,that kind of cars.
 
Dead scythe,don't bother trying.There are cars that aren't in the NSTC version,and are in the PAL version.And in any save,if anything differs,it crashes,or loads uncorrectly.I've tried that before,for the record.And i've successfuly converted other game's saves.

The familia is a cool car to drive.no big speeds,easy to handle.From what concept did you took that engine off suca?

The RX8 also works,and it is wonderful.That engine sound,the power...yeah...

Unfortunaly,hybrids traded between memorycards don't work.We can buy them,but the car bought is the stock one,with no special parts or engines. :(


I just rigged the car with everything but turbo and now the sound is the normal for a turbo car(like a skyline).Maybe it was because i bought the turbo upgrade but didn't equip it.But the horse power is the same.EDIT:It ain't because of the turbo,i reloaded the game,boughted everything but the turbo,and the sound is still from the skyline.maybe muffler?yeah,now that i think about it,muffler changes the engine sound,therefore,it's logical that the muffler overwrites the cobra engine sound.EDIT:2 aha,gotcha.If you take the muffler out,the sound gets back to normal.V8 yeah!EDIT3:Sorry for the massive edits,but i'm writing as i try stuff.But putting a muffler from otyher car doesn't change engine sound.For example,suca,you have that crx with gts muffler.The sound is still of a normal crx.
I equiped the tubo,and the game locked up.Possibly because of the NA being installed in the car too.I'll try to unistall the NA,by selecting the none in the settings menu,to see if the game still locks up.If it does,then maybe it's because the engine doens't allow to turbo it.

This thing is fast...btw suca,the max nos level of this car is 100.i don't think i've ever seen more than 100 in a car before.

The in game camera is wicked cool,but strange,looks like you're riding a bike or something lol.It also has lots of money.Do you want this save suca?
And i reckon the camera titls as the G forces raise.Do you think a code could be created to negate this effect?Like,G force always 0,or something like that.
Also,do you think you can set up the view more to the left or to the right?

The wing code creates a car at the end of the list,wich is always there,even if you save the game and load without the code,the mysterious empty car is still there lol.

Random cars inside views.Notice how the guy in the cobra actually moves his mouth and eye expression(even if i can't really get if he's scared or soemthing like that lol),and notice details in the Z cockpit(the most detailed until now.I drove a 206,and it all looked horrile,all card box style...ghetto...)
 
sucahyo, if you want - I can get you a ntsc save w a few cars and a lot of credits. I didn't notice the pal cars that arent in the ntsc ver, most likely explains the crashes. lets see if we can make a few ntsc/pal friendly hybrids for testing purposes. my email is [removed], shoot me a line and i'll send u a save later when I get outta work later tonight (lemme know what cars u want aswell, i'll throw a few - 5-8 maybe in).

I have looked into the subject of the so-called "hidden cars", and found the answer: The PAL release contains a whole extra manufacturer (Vauxhall), which is barely an addon since they're carbon-copies of their Opel twins (apart from sliiiightly different front grilles) - Astra Touringcar, Calibra Touringcar, Astra, Vectra, VX220, VX220 Turbo, Tigra, and the little one whose name I always forget. 1.4l engine, nothing remarkable about that car.
Those seven, plus the Esso ULTRAFLO JGTC Supra.

NTSC and PAL, in GT4, are very similar. The OLR community would be dead if so many cars were missing from the NTSC release - they're probably just missing from a carlist, rather than the game...

AngelCreator/James, could you look those up in the game, please?
 
that's not possible,since there's no way we can actually change cars from GT4's data.It would be cool,if GT4 had a community like a normal PC game has,where people create mods to modify the game.But there's no thing like that,so,we are stuck with hybrids,wich is great if you ask me.

Off the top of my head the only car I can see that is not in the NTSC version
is the Peugeot 1992 905B Evo 1 Bis LM. But that's only because it's under a different name.

I don't know about the first one, but if you want a car with a high NOS level
check out any car with low horsepower like the Subaru 360.

hmm, I just got an idea - I'mma try it on pcsx2 (if I can get it running on my sis' comp - she has the dvd player, I don't :P).

now, I haven't gotten around to this, so correct me if I'm wrong, but from using other emulators, maybe this will work;

-in the game, select the car you want
-return to the home screen (shows the car in the garage)
-press start (the shortcut to the settings menu)
-now change something (select race muffler for example)
-then using the emulator, use it to check if anything changes (this is the baseline)
-change the muffler back to normal
-again, using the emulator, use it to check what changed vs. the baseline you set earlier.
-iirc, this shouldn't change date/etc... and should pull the memory address and what value (prev/curr)

assuming that works, we can then use that to pull memory addresses + values (manually) for parts, making a armax code (for example) would apply the "r34 race muffler" to whatever car is in the 1st position (since you're grabbing the values from the 1st position).

-just thinking ahead, since the code fixes the height value to whatever its set ALL the time (assuming the cheat device is on all the time), then does this only affect the car in the #1 spot? If so, then everytime I change to a new car, it would get the new ride height also (untill the cheat device is turned off).

Another thing to consider, maybe, I haven't played in a while and today I remembered each car has 3 diff. possible configurations - could mean each car can count as 3 different hybrids lol.

If deleting car is hard I guess any kind of gamesave is ok. I will publicly post this gamesave, so if your gamesave contain some secret tuning or something, be sure to delete it first.

About bouncy car, it's not that important, I just want to see the similarity between GT2 damper behaviour and GT4 damper behaviour. All cars in the first hybrid gamesave should have bouncy behaviour, F1 Miata should too. If you race the car right away without modifying, you should feel the car has longer suspension movement caused by higher damper value (20).

About hidden cars, I guess I can only wait and see. I attach the car list again.


About cockpit camera, I still have no luck finding the camera position code yet.

Well I was tring something today and I can build a save with only the cars
you want, and make it have alot of money too. That's why I asked what cars you wanted.

I can find the upgradable part too, just not doing it yet.

About code for modifying wing or engine, I think the code need some value checking first.

I noticed the wing code earlier, it looks like the wing was from a completely diff. car, so maybe that means we can have winged or wingless cars =p. would make sense, because coding-wise you would tell the game engine, load wing model #3 for a skyline (since the model was premade with the correct offsets already) versus load generic wing model #3 and place it here (refers to an array chart with offsets based on car id) - the latter could work but would be less efficient, takes more coding to get done.

if that is so, then we could also swap stock wings btwn cars, not so sure how the game would take it (color-wise) ie: you put a BMW M3 trunk wing on a Fiat Something, and when the game loads up color #7(for fiat for example, red-who knows) and tries to load up color#7 on the wing model(but there's no color #7 on the bmw for example, refering to an invalid color) what then happens in the game. ehh, worry about that stuff after the preliminary hybridding gets completed. the wierd thing about the car w/ the wing code earlier, no pedistals for the wing

one thing I'd like to try: remove that park-bench offa the rear of my black Amuse S2k-R1!!!! (check for stock wing code on a car that has no visible wing, but adjustable f/r downforce?)
 
About wingless car, I don't think it can be done, since car without wing upgrade do not have any wing code value. It seems GT4 will detect if there is wing equipped, if it is then the original wing (from car data) will be replaced with upgradeable wing. Wheel work just like the way you describe, even if you don't buy wheel upgrade, the wheel code for each car is different. But to remove wheel you should need code that specify blank wheel, I think.


This is the modified wing code (with checking) for PAL version, can you test this PlayGuy?
