I have no sound after installing update 1.12

Every lobby I have been in since the update, people are having this issue. It is not track specific, as I have been on 4 different tracks. Some experience no tire noise, or no engine sound, some have no sound at all but can hear the other cars. The other thing is they can hear people talk on mics, just no car sounds. The problem can then go away without doing anything. Hopefully this gets fixed soon, as racing without sound makes it pretty tough to shift.

Perhaps they're fully aware of it but haven't figured out the problem yet. ;)

I'm sure they'll fix it soon.

Yep, I'm sure too..... Not! It only took them 9 months to fix the issues at Bathurst :-(

Seriously, they need to be made fully aware of this issue.

I'm having the same sound issues. Two days ago I had the issue in online lobby. No engine or tire sounds. Thought it could be my headphone (5.1 system) and switched to my speakers, same issue of course. I could hear the sound of the other cars btw. I went to sound options to change from 5.1 to 2.0. Issue still happened. Restarted the game, same thing. Then suddenly after leaving the pits my engine and tire sounds came back.

Then the other day also in online lobby. I leave the pits and everything is fine. Go back into the pits and leave again and no engine or tire sounds again ! I quit at that point..

I did do an online race when I had no engine or tire sounds and saved the replay. Interesting thing is that also in the replay my car is not making any sound but the other cars are.

Also, when crashing into a wall no sound is heard. I did hear the sound of the crowd besides the other cars.

More people must have this issue since 1.12. I have a PS3 Slim, 5.1 audio system and T500 wheel.

Last night a friend was having this problem, but it was resolved when he left the room and came back in.

I noticed a similar problem with replays - I was watching a replay which had perfect sound before 1.12, but since the update it correctly plays the engine sound of the car selected at the start of the race, but if I switch to view from another car it plays the sound from the new car at a very low volume. If the original car overtakes it plays that sound at a high volume.

I was just thinking that the apparently random nature of this sound issue might be related to caching / retrieval. Things like dead sectors, free space, slow / failed reads (i.e. transferring from BluRay to cache) etc. might be having an effect.

I think there's a "repair file system" option in the XMB, which should stop the PS3's file system accessing any dead bits on the drive, and then GT6 should repopulate the cache with any files that were broken.

Not a guaranteed fix (it won't fix the BluRay read speed / latency), but worth a try?

I have the digital version of GT6, so it is not the BluRay. Besides, I never had these issues before 1.12 and I only have it in online lobbies. Seems to me others also only have the issue online.
If it would be related to my file system, then I would also surely have the issue when playing offline and perhaps also before the 1.12 update.

It is not confined to online in the general case.

It may only happen for you (and many others who care to report it) online after the update, but for a long time there was a contingent where it only happened on Bathurst, and before that it was consistent no matter the track or mode for certain individuals, and totally random for others (like myself).

I've only had it happen offline, and on various tracks (e.g. Ascari, Matterhorn), but not for a long while.

As I said, it appears to be unpredictable as to how and when it happens, that should not be the case for fixed hardware.
Only those who have the problem can test potential solutions.

I had issues on Bathurst in the past indeed, but that was a different case. There my audio started to sound like garbage (loud noise) all of a sudden, but that was fixed and I don't have any issues on Bathurst anymore. Other than that I never had issues with sound prior to 1.12.

The issues you are mentioning also happened pre-1.12 then ?

It seems quite unpredictable indeed. I've heard several people report it in online lobby since 1.12. They have the same issues as me and very random indeed.

We've had this happen in our league practice rooms as well. Two separate nights, two different drivers. Only solution was to rebuild the room. With a league event scheduled for tomorrow night, this is going to cause havoc for us.

Yeaaah... I had this happen also no tire/engine sounds when racing online. The race in question was a one-make Shelby GT500 one and I can tell you firsthand it's a 🤬 to try to keep the car from spinning. :banghead: I still won though

I am having the sound issue where i can't hear the tire sound, just the engine and bleep sound after each lap, can hear the menu sounds. It's like the newest update just screwed up or disabled some of the sounds in the game. This started happening to me only after 1.12 was installed. Happens just when playing online.

That's exactly the same I am having indeed. I also hear the crowd and other cars.. breaks the game for me !

1.12 , T500, Sony Pulse 7.1 headset, loss of tire sound mid or early or exiting pit,

quickmatch DeepForest loses all sounds on the Merc SLS , but gotta love that car in that match, it's nearly 1:1 with the Ferrari 458 after three laps, and if your brave enough, you can win with it, oops OT, but before I do, turn OFF ALL AIDS,

Online rooms, Sierra, Nurb, tire sounds just gone , sometime engine too,

HMM, ASSETTO CORSA and GT6, both recent patches garble sounds,

COINCIDENCE?? only Kaz would know, or only Kaz wouldn't either. :)

Anticipating 1.13 this coming week.

Annoying bug, but when this happens at Nordschleife it's amusing to hear another car's roar no matter how much track there is between you. That is, unless all engines are muted, which has happened too.

Yarp. Ya. Ya eh. Yaah

A truly insightful and helpful post. It's nice to know that there are people in the World, like you, that even though they have severe mental retardation issues they still try and contribute something useful, even though, it is well beyond their meagre capacity.

even mine when racing sometimes its just gone the sound in the engines and tire.weird, theres really a problem,. n the update 1.12

Many of my friends have had this happen. Very many. Too many.

They say the way to fix it is to leave the room and rejoin, but I host.

God, I hope it never happens to me!

My observation is : when you are hosting a Lobby you don't have any sound glitch.
The problem is when you are joining, russian roulette :indiff:.

Fixed host or just the first? Because I had a very persistent case when I inherited hosting.

I think just the first, yesterday I hosted 2-3 lobby and had no one problem but when I was joining most of the time I was without sound.

A temporary way to get sounds back, experienced by a few friends online:
While in training, and if you lose engine sound, head back to pits and immediately after rejoin track. Most of the time, engine sound is restored like this.

For the tyres, quit to lobby and go into your tuning menu (not driving options), change all tyres to different ones and back to former ones. Then go on track again and tyre sound should be restored again.

Sometimes, nothing but restarting the game works but it's a small solution most of the times it happens untill it's fixed.

My sound keeps going.
Got a league race on Monday. Wont be able to race like this.
Not impressed PD you fix one thing and mess up 2 more.

Was going to say this. Sometimes I have no sound of my car and I only hear the others, if you get to the pits and rejoin the track, it gets fixed.
