Its one of the things we should test out during the pre season in my opinion. I will use all the pre season races to test things out. You wont see me going for a podium in those races. And to be honest I hope more than me is doing it and we could discuss it after the test. I really want everyone to go out and try different things. Like the things you ask about. I don't see the pre season as a race test. Of course we race, but it will not be a pre season leaderboard.

In my dream world of a pre season we try to race all the cars in the list, don't stick to you favourite just because your here to race.
Also I would like to test worst case scenario with the weather condition, we plan to do a endurance race on Suzuka. Last time that was 45 laps and ended up taking 90 minutes. If we do get rain all the way during the actual race it will take a lot longer than 90 minutes. So it could be a learning process.

But I guess we figure it out, and I would need some help to figure out everything. So everyone is welcome to contribute in the testing.

Do I remember correctly seeing you did mathematics, maybe you could do some probability calculations on how much rain we do expect with each settings :) And how many laps would be about 90minutes!!
I accept if the challenge is to big :scared:

What time is the race?? Is it possible to have the race 1 hour earlier than usuall???

No problem, I'll figure out how much time we lose in the wet and get some rough numbers.

Not so sure if I'll be able to make the race tomorrow, college finishes for the year next Friday and I've got two essays to complete in that time, 5000 words and 750 words. If I can make the race tomorrow, I'll show up but I'll make sure to let you guys know beforehand if I can make it or not.

Icouldn't even finish those two in a year:dunce:

i drive the yellowhat tomica gtr08 today and also in the new sasion
how many laps we drive today??

If you read the first posts in this thread you see we drive 30 laps today and you also see that we pick our cars on Sunday 18:00 UTC/GMT
If you haven't seen this, you should read it one more time as the rules also have changed quite a bit.

We are all free to use the car we want to during the pre-season.

I want the same car as Immortal, its the only broken in gt500 I have(expect Z that has been dropped out)
Yesterday I ran 30 lap race at Suzuka, now I understood the amount of tire the Z was eating ;)

I updated the OP now, with this URL, UTC=GMT what that is in PST? Not a time zone I need to know much about so I have no idea!

Do you want to sign up since you ask?

We do accept sign ups, don't have to wait until you can select your car.

today real vs barca.. exactly at the same time our race starts... i'm thinking what to do.. i might put my laptop next to me & watch the game & race @ the same time..

this ^

In the yesterday's race I was eating a sandwich in the suzuka's big straight lol

So, the race starts in 10 hours from now?

Just like the previous season?

Just to inform:

Yes we start at 9pm GMT/UTC 22:00CET as we all are used to. No changes.

I will open up my private lounge hours before the race, the new thing is that 10-15 minutes before the qualify start I leave to set up a open lobby. I will have to limit the room to how many we are so we wont get random people join while we race. When you guys enter this room it is expected that you have your car with the specs in the OP. We will do the bhp/weight check as a practice to make this less painful over time. I do expect someone not to be ready as I've seen that through last season when we did the success ballast check. But now is a good time to try to be ready as all you achieve by not being ready is to make the rest of the guys wait for you.

I have not noticed any different physics between the open lobby and a private lounge so it's safe to tune your car in a private lobby. All I noticed is when in open lobby the car acts more real (as we race with "race for real") so in tracks where the car loose contact with the tarmac (jumps) it wont take off like a rocket. So if we had raced Cape Ring I would have practised in a open lobby :P

Looking forward to test the new car specs and I do hope it rains a bit so we actually can test that :)

See you all on the track in some hours!

I am losing my mind. I would like to change the unit "PK" (whit means "HP") into "BHP" But i can't find it anymore in the option-screen :ill:

In the option menu you have a language section, I believe if you set it to English it will give you BHP

Not sure, but I tested Turkish on mine and BHP got replaced by HP

I thought i could change it, becaus i think i did it before :ill:

Now i only can choose bewtween 3 languanges (Dutch, Turkish and some other weird language whit weird symbols, greek i think)

and i can change Miles & KM.

It's becaus the settings of my cars for the new rules because BHP is not the same as PK.

Why did they remove it...?

Well I think

512bhp = 520HP
518bhp = 526HP
522bhp = 530hp
532bhp = 540hp

If anyone can confirm this I would be happy :)

And I have room open if anyone would like to pre test it.

If it does rain do you still have to use both the soft and medium compound ? Or is it like Formula 1 where you can only use 1 .

I know we are limited to 1 soft stint regardless but in a wet race you could for example use 1 set soft , 1 set inters , 1 set full wets.

Ok, I wont be there tonight guys. I'm only 1200 words in I still have to go to the opticians today for a check up. Have fun without me! :)

You will have 1 stint on soft, no one forcing you on any tyres, we just limit the use of the soft. So if it is rain all the way no one said you HAD to use the soft or the medium.

But if start on soft and it start rain you will have to change to intermediate and even rain, if it dry up in the end of the race you will have to use mediums.

So since we aren't forcing a compound like F1, but we limit the soft compound the rules still apply.

Problem discovered.
If we start on soft/mediums when qualifying and it start rain and get lets say to 100% track water and we change to wet tyres. Then start the race! The tyres will show as rain tyres, but I promise you they are NOT rain tyres. So if this happen we will have to restart the track and go to track and do formation on our qualify position. Like we have done when we had to restart the race.

If this happen we will have to change tyres through the driving options and not enter "settings" since you cant change you BHP/Weight in driving options!

Race will then be changed to the weather we had leaving the qualify. If its 45% standing water we put in 40% on race start. but if its less than 31% standing water in the end of the qualify we wont restart. If its 29 I guess most of will pit after lap 1.

I think they are the other way around as BHP are crankshaft horsepower on the engine where it has lost the least amount of power considering the hp on the wheels has already gone through the gearbox with a certain amount of power loss.

No it's not..
BHP is the uk term and the HP was made by the Germans way back. And the Germans experts didn't think a horse had that amount of KW in them.

The game doesn't change their way of measuring the power, just because the language in the game changes.

And no we already tested it online and the list is 100% correct

After some fairly persistent weather testing I think 30 laps is the best option. If it's dry throughout we should do 31 and if it's a monsoon then we want 25 because I think we lose 25 seconds a lap after the water level goes > 80%. If it's below 30% then you can get some heat into the tyres and do 2.05s and that would be 27 laps. As long as we start in slick tyre weather (<20%) 30 laps should be fine.

Then I guess we drop weather on the ring, as 11 laps there is just awesome, and make the faith decide if the wet races become long or short. (my first idea)

And thank you Adam for testing this out. Very much appreciated :)

Ok, disregard then. 👍
