You missed out my favourite one from GT2, @Turbo :D

Back when Cardomain was probably the main "social media" for car people I spent a lot of time going through this guy's page. I think a few changes to the site mean a lot of the posts have disappeared and the rest all have the same date. One suggests that unfortunately his car was stolen and stripped back in 2009, but it's probably always been my favourite Del Sol.

Few more pics of a more recent build:

No shame at all for liking these things. The Del Sol was one of the first cars I read about in a car magazine and one of the first I drove in a GT game. Drove one years ago before I bought my first MX-5 and quite liked it. Would still be tempted if I could find a really nice VTi at some point.

I have to say that the styling on these has grown on me over the years. I use to think they were dull in some places while ugly in others. However, I'm starting to find the charm in the 145 now. Especially variations like this one.

An early 145 with the boxer would tickle my interests. If you're going to go Alfa, go as Alfa as you can.

There's a garage up the road from me that has had a Z31 300ZX parked outside for a year or so now. Every time I walk past my interest in them grows slightly. They seem to sit in a limbo at the moment between proper classic Z-cars and the Gran Turismo appeal of the Z32s, which means it's difficult to find decent pics of them online (Bob Sharp racers aside), but also means they're quite affordable right now...

I know it's one of the "all 1980s coupes look the same" cars too but that low nose and long tail look is really starting to appeal too. Think I'd keep it nice and simple like the red car above.

That picture needs to die.

Z31 is great. Much better looking the 280z/zx car that preceded it. I think it has the misfortune of being succeeded by the Z32...one of the most beautiful cars (IMO) cars to emerge from Japan to this day. I almost bought a Z31 back when I was 15. I'm pretty sure it would have been a better car than the Foxbody Mustang I ended up with.

I quite like it. Take nostalgia and preference for individual models out of the picture and they all kinda do look pretty similar (would be even more pronounced if they were all profile shots). I think @Wolfe created it if I recall correctly, and the funny thing is I don't think he did so for that purpose, but that's what it's turned into
Bit unfair on the 280ZX. They might not be the best looking of the Zs, but a well sorted S130 can still look properly good.
Have to admit I'm not a fan of the 280ZX either, but like the Most Interesting Man in the World, when I am it's one of the old Bob Sharp/Jim Fitzgerald cars.

It was my first contribution to the meme economy, one of only a few that I know of. Sometimes it happens.

It was originally made as a "who's who" guessing game for a different forum, with cars with similar styling elements placed in proximity to each other to make it a little more challenging, as well as to show how popular that general bodystyle was in that era. A Porsche 928 obviously does not resemble an Accord hatchback. :P

Always loved the Pantera. I was lucky to meet Tom Tjaarda at the University of Michigan a few years ago before he died. He was a very nice guy. He actually has a degree in architecture from there and was giving a lecture to the school. His thesis project for his degree was a car rather than a building! He was very open discussing various concepts for his designs. The Pantera, he said, was designed to celebrate it's mid-engine layout because early mid engine cars (he cited the Miura, the Pantera beat the Countach to production by several years) seemed to disguise the placement rather than accentuate it. That's how the kink behind the door and the flying buttresses came to be.

The later cars are interesting, but the purity of the very first cars is the best, IMO. (That goes for the Countach and Esprit too, again IMO)
