Well you got me confused on that part as well. Didn't the Silvia coupe was called a PS13, and the Silvia fastback a RPS13? Maybe I got my facts all wrong then. :guilty: But yeah, the name really gets confusing when you start calling them by their platform names......

It's even worse when people start referring to engine designations :nervous: I know very few of these so when someone says "my car's got the TZF565656565LOL! engine" it means absolutely nothing to me... I'd rather they said "turbocharged, 2.0 litre, 200bhp" or whatever...

The only Silvias that really appeal to me are the version after that model above (I was sure they were S13s, but maybe I'm wrong), I've decided. I guess I'm not into the whole drift thing so their significance doesn't mean as much to me, and it's the version that looks the best to me so I base everything on that!

This version, I'm referring to:

Why do people spend all that money on a car and then put overpriced and undergood tires on it? The hell?

if all I told you was my car has a 200hp 2.0l I could have any one of half the cars that came out of japan in the last 30 years :P

Ah, but I'm assuming the make of car is already known. I'd be surprised if you referred to your car (whatever that may be) by the engine code and not by the model itself. I'm more referring to people who say "I've got an EG with a B16A!" - erm... you mean a twin-cam VTEC Civic? Fair enough if you're a tuner, or someone who's swapped one engine for another (I'm led to believe it's popular to put the 1.8s from the Integras into Civics) but even then, there are about twenty of each B and D Honda engines so a random code tells me nothing. But if someone says "I have a Civic VTEC" I'd ask "the 123bhp or 158bhp version) and that'd be that...

Sorry, that was reeeeally rambling. It's late and I need sleep.

Here's an import for the import thread...

Nobody said the import had to be cool. Or fast. Or all one colour. Oh go on then, here's a very cool import:

man I never understood that. you have a 20 year old set of wheels that they only made 10 sets of and then you go and put some $20 all seasons from wally world on them.

I was going to say someone like you, but I agree with you more than that comment would be worth making.

People always tell me "Dude, just get some cheap tires, that way you won't be worried about wasting them and won't blow a bunch of money on them."

No. I like my car to handle well. Although I am building my car to enjoy, quicker is still more fun.

Yeah but the 'P' (in PS13 and RPS13) reffers to the engine type, 'P' being the 2.0 SR20.

As we were talking about various engine versions (US KA24, CA18 and SR20 models) I left out the engine codes (within the chassis code) as highlighted below

(excluding engine and Hicas codes)

Great pics above, the Civic Coupe looks really good on those wheels, the E30s look stunning, and that 5-series with the rusty bonnet is quite interesting too...

I have a toyota 4AGE and a toyota 3SGTE :P

Well I know what the 4AGE is, it's the standard Mk1 MR2 lump, but I haven't a clue about the other engine :P

The 3SGTE is the Turbocharged 2.0 4 cyl engine found in 2nd gen MR2's (SW20) and Celica GT4's

Ah, I get it now. 👍

That Civic Si and the M3 looks quite nice, but that other BMW needs to remove that luggage carrier on top of the car. If the car is going for that rusty look, they should have done everything to look rusted, not just the hood and the thing on top.... 👎 (but I do quite like those rims :D)

Agreed, if you are going to spend the time and effort on your vehicle make it look like you spend time and effort on it.

Genuine old rust is one thing, but that you can see they just blasted all the paint of then added a oxidising agent to produce insta-rust, it's like the difference between real diamonds and man made diamonds.

(can't believe I am comparing rust to diamonds :scared: )

It's just surface rust. You can get that by exposing bare metal to unconditioned air for a few days. If cars didn't have anything on the sheet steel body panels to protect them from moisture in the air the only cars that wouldn't be rust brown would be the plastic and aluminum ones.
