Haven't we discussed how those steelies weigh a ton because they're made for off road driving? Also $200 a wheel is almost a bargain for such a light weigh wheel. The only reason to not like RPF1s are because they're so common these days.

I've never had the opportunity to driven an MR2 before so I wouldn't know. Never even sat in one.

I've owned three and am looking to buy a forth soon. One AW11 and two SW20s so far. Also FWIW I've ridden in an ZZW30 at an autocross.

I'm interested in seeing any photos of yours(?)

No you're not. Its not very pretty to look at. Its gold with black/red Advan SA3Rs. I just wish it didn't have so many rust issues.

$80 a piece sounds ok, they'll probably cost too much by the time they're delivered though. I think the rpf1s are too expensive to be beating on and I prefer the look of those steelies anyway. Thanks for the help all:tup:
You may want to stay away from anything that has a decent/good reputation then. $800 for a well-built set of wheels is a good deal compared to the competition.

Strong would be nice, and being steel if I damage them, I can probably fix them with a hammer. I've bust my alloy wheels so many times on my local track and they're a pain to repair. I'm not worried about how common the wheels are to be honest, if i like them i will buy and after looking at some pics of those rpf1s in 17x9.5, i might be tempted to go for them next time I'm buying descent wheels.

I've owned a SW20 before, a slightly modded '92 turbo, I loved driving it, they are a very quick car and serious around corners.

Their strength is nothing to brag about. It's like making wheels out of iron and then saying that their advantage is strength. It's not like every other wheel is made out of cardboard (at least a good quality wheel.) Either way wheels need to have rigidity/stiffness and must be light. Just from the nature of aluminum alloy, it will crack more often than bend in the same manner that carbon fiber has high rigidity but low strength since, at its failing point, it cracks instead of bends.

Im curious to know what wheels you're running that have been cracking so much at the track.

I've got GPsports fire somethings can't remember the name lol. The track has these drop offs at the edges I can't help catching the inside front wheel on at the apex, and it keeps breaking the inner lip, it happed on the back once too. So something strong and cheap isn't a bad thing, to have some fun without worries.

It seems to me that hitting those edges has become a habit. I don't think that driving a few inches more to the outside would hurt your lap times more than running Flint Stones wheels.

I'm drifting, don't really care about lap times, but there's no timing available at the track anyway, so even if i was going for speed I wouldn't know the difference in lap times. I had Advans before and they never broke, but I used to take a different line when i had those, as i was only beginning and had less power.

With all these people ratting out higher end cars, there's obviously people with a lot of money doing these things to the cars. What I want to see is someone pick up a beater Ferrari 308 and give it the rust treatment and slam it to the floor. It would cost less that tuning a new A4 for instance, and would be definitely far more unique.

Anyone with me?

Me!

Unfortunately... people who buy old Ferraris are too scared of ruining their oh-so-precious-collector's-value to modify them.

Too bad. Some of the later Ferrari supercars lend themselves well to wicked modifying:

Fixed. :)

yeah... my bad... had the tag wrong but couldn't fix it because my net went out on me... stupid weather...

What, you don't like all the pictures?

See the quote from McLaren, I sat there trying to look at pictures for a good minute but every time a new picture loaded every second the screen would set to a different place and basically I didn't get to look at one picture on the last page because of people whoring too many pictures.

He must be trolling
Otherwise, how can a car enthusiast can not love car ...

Real classy response mate, do you even know who you're talking about?

Contrary to popular belief, there are people who still have internet connections where it would take a few minutes to load the last page.

This.

I have a fast internet connection and it's still frustrating when it takes time before all the pictures appear.

Much more annoying though is people who insist on quoting entire posts including pictures.

Dont you guys have data limits over there too? I can imagine that a huge thread with pictures can take its toll on that too....

This thread is designed to be a place where people post pictures of 'Import' cars. It's highly likely that a majority of the posts contain images or multiple images and therefore every page will take longer to load than your average GTP page since it contains all these images.

^ This. It certainly doesn't help matters when entire posts are quoted.

Like it's been pointed out, we don't all have quick connections. I'm fine at work but at home i have to avoid these threads due to the frustrating amount of time it takes to load all the images. But there's no way around that.

I'm fine with a lot of pictures, but perhaps people could pace themselves, there seem to be posts with like 10 big pictures, and then there will be a lot of posts like that on the same page, plus the quoting issues as mentioned. Just post a few in one post, not a kajabazillion. Oh and yes we do have download limits for the month here, but mine is huge so that doesn't bother me, others might not be so lucky.

And now, a quick throw-out to the Eclipse.:dopey:

And I only just found out about this one, the Eclipse Ralliart concept car from last year, and it's all Evo IX under there.

Dude, nice eclipse if that's yours and the Ralliart Eclipse should've been built.
Too bad though.

And yeah, I quoted the whole post but it's only two pictures. :dunce:

Would you agree that this is a good start?

Just gotta keep turning the Trend Dial until it's bordering offensive.

It's not bad, I just don't think the wheels particularly suit it.

How about no. Those are rare enough as it is. 👎

You misunderstand. Not that your general responses give anyone much of a chance to explain themselves anyway

I meant the badly proportioned ones based on SW20s. Which are ten-a-penny and many of them over here have rusty bodywork.

Don't worry, I wasn't suggesting we all go out and ruin AW11s...

AW11s are rare because of their age. SW20s are rare for some other reason. I've been trying to buy another one for the last two months but have missed out on at least 6 so far.

Nah it's not mine, I'm still rocking my Holden.;) Now that you mention it, I'm not sure if we even got the Eclipse here in Australia, although probably not a huge loss since if I understand correctly, most are FWD and most had reliability issues. I do like the AWD versions though, I hope they get put in GT5 (GT4 only had FWD versions, how bizarre).

Whats a limit?

You don't even own an MR2 anymore BMW boy

O'Rly?

I'd hardly call them rare... I see them every where, all the time.
