I think what that Option article proves is something I suspected all along: You can't take an object already designed to perform at a maximum and "fix" it with tape and glue. A racing wheel is designed with a very specific purpose in mind and in the case of that GTC is design to do it the best. If you want something better you'll have to design something better.
Luckily for me, a 1991 RX7 wasn't built quite as well as it could have been. I can improve it here and there...but of course if I want it to meet a specific performance goal then I'll eventually end up with an F1 car, not an RX7. You just can't rig it to do that job.

Anyways, got this from the TRD Corolla Levin Sprinter Trueno Special Edition Bible.
I'm pretty convinced this very photo was used to draw Takumi's Group A engine (which is exactly what this is) in the Initial D manga. *fanboy*
I'm also pretty convinced this is the only photo of this particular Group A-spec 20V 4AGE (Besides the one used in Akiras 86 which uses fuel injection.) It's interesting because it seems to be for the RWD application with the headers and the type of intake they used but back in the early 90s, in the Group A series, they were used in the Truenos/Levins which were FWD (the N2 Corolla/Sprinter Grand Cup had long since ended.) So if anyone here can read the Japanese caption on the top right it would be great.
