I was actually talking about this with Cesar (Speed Junkie) a few days ago. Not really talking about swapping it to a Civic, but in general.

Honestly, despite the ka24 not being a great powerhouse or anything, there's no denying the engine is extremely reliable. They make about 160whp and tq with only minor bolt ons, and they are a dime a dozen. Sure, the powerband sucks, but that can be fixed with a set of cams. They can be picked up for 200-400 bucks in great running shape, and if you stick it in a lightweight chassis like an E30, Datsun 510, AE86 Corolla, S12, on in this case, a Civic, I'd bet that thing is pretty quick. With full intake/header/exhaust, and a set of cams, they will easily make 180whp with equal torque numbers. The transmissions are strong enough, the engines are cheap enough, and they are reliable enough. Plus, if it breaks, you could probably get another block for free if you look hard enough.

Whether or not it's worth a turbo build is another story, but N/A, there's no denying it makes a great powerplant for a lightweight car.
