I've set it to 65º now and I'm getting used to it already. Actually managed to do more consistent times. I'll leave it at that for now and will try to gradually lower it from now on, because 45º at the moment is too much of a jump for me.

I have my FOV set to 74º which is just right for me, I like to be able to see both sides of the front of the car and with 45º I cant with only having 1 screen.

It works just fine with one screen. You can use shift [ or ] to adjust the tilt, so you can see the tachometer. If your sitting in your car and stick a frame the same distance from your eyes and same size you use in the game what you see through the frame is what you should see in the game.

You can always move closer to your monitor.

That is true but what i mean by it doesn´t "work" is that in the end it´s just a screen.

Imagine sticking pieces of paper on the sides of your eyes while in a real race car only seeing 20-30% of what you really see.
then go do super quick laps reaching 180mph in some stages.

It´s just not realistic, the system works fine, but only if you have the resolution to compensate for the FOV.

You can choose FOV freely in the same place you put in your numbers for screen size etc.

I could never race what Rudi runs. I´d have no idea where people are, only seeing what´s in front of me. I´d go with 90-100 for single screen users.

I agree. Couldn't imagine not seeing both sides of my car.

thanks but I still don't know where lol.

I'm still trying to get used to the layout

Same here. I have no idea on what the car is doing nor do i even know where the car is on the track.
I´d raise the FOV until you can see the car from left to right.

when you get three screens then you can experiment with FOV because you will still see to the left and right.

For Ford GT i use around 140-145 somewhere around there.
I could not imagine using it without two extra screens.

Ok that is perfectly understandable :)

When you go to "graphics" there´s a column if you will to the right.
There you type in, distance, screen size, monitor size etc.

If you have one screen i´d say F that. Type in FOV to what YOU feel is right.
I promise you, more time is to be gained from improving yourself then gettin the "correct FOV" which in reality it is, but you can´t see **** with that.

so I can only access that while I go into a practice, race, tt,etc right? That is the only time I see those options is before I race on that screen.

thanks for the help 👍

Yea, only time to change any graphics is in game.

If you for example have 2-pass shadows turn off then when you turn them on you have to leave the game then join until it´s active.

same with changin res etc but just changing FOV it´s done instantly.

thank you, I'm going to do some runs in the solstice at summit point and mess around with the settings.

thanks again

Just thought I'd go on a shopping spree, got the vette, ford gt and v8 and the star Mazda, n for tracks I purchased spa, Suzuka, Phillip island and silverstone. Should be fun :)

Btw with the advice about lime rock the otter day, managed a 59.5.

Woohoo!! Great cars! But no LMP??

Lol not yet, think I'm going to struggle just with the power of these ones. The V8 is just monstrous in power for me. Have to learn to slowly apply throttle. The lmp is on the to-buy list though.

I have a Class A road licence but until yesterday had never driven in a race above Class C. I decided to have a race in the Ford GT in the B class fixed series. I practised until I could get consistent times whilst keeping it on the road so felt confident although I knew I'd be running at the back. Then I entered a race from where it all went downhill. On the warm up lap I ran into the car in front. My fault. 4x. On the fourth lap the car immediately in front of me (that I was battling with) spun and I could do nothing to avoid him. Not my fault. 4x. Then the Acuras started lapping me which made me nervous - cue a few 1xs and a 2x. Then one of the Acuras, whilst lapping me, passed by a little too closely and clipped my front. 50/50. Another 4x. Add in a few more 1xs and I ended up with 21 inc by the end of the race. My average inc per race is about 3! My SR fell by 1.06. :-(

I understand the SR system and its purpose, but there should be a curve, for the higher license levels it should be a bit more leniant, I am sometimes afraid to get in a race in fear of how much SR will I loose. It really takes the fun away sometimes...

It is a very fine line. And I'm the same as you Jav, I sometimes wont enter certain races for fear of losing too much.

that said, clean race in the nVidia Cup at Lime Rock, +52 SR and I am now Class B! Weee!

Woohoo!! Good for you man!! You'll do very good on the GT/Prototype series, you've been killing it on the Star Mazda so that's a pretty solid foundation for the LMP car!

Yeah, for SR they should just count contact(I've even got a x4 contact SR hit when there was no actual contact 3 times this weekend what's up with that!!) and start counting the x1 offs after the 4th incident for the higher license levels...

... ford gt

there is only one series where you can drive this car, Rototype and GT Challenge. its an multiclass event, Vette, you bought already, FGT and HPD.
if you want do some laps there, so you must buy the HPD too. ;)
if not, you can do only Test Car on Track, or hosted sessions.

What time do the races change? Is it 7pm eastern?
I am going with the Star Mazda for a few weeks and see how it goes, but I didn't want to buy Road America. :D

Was just having a go with a few camera ideas earlier, though I may as well post the video I shot here.

Not great quality, or driving.

Hey guys. HPD ARX server up right now at Mid Ohio. 60 minute practice, 10 minute quali, and 50 minute race. Host name is :Shinya Michimi
