2 GTX 580
6gb RAM
i7 950 4.2GHz

Crowds set to low quality (high means that their backs are rendered which is pointless from a driving point of view)
Shadow volumes of for tracks like SPA, Suzuka, Okayama, Road America.
Steering wheel off
virtual mirror off
Event low quality for the above tracks except Road America

But then again i need to feed three screens trying to keep the FPS at 100+.

My second GTX480 has turned out to be a bit of a waste. I've had other priorities since I got it so I never bought the extra monitors I planned on getting. Haven't done a lot of iRacing lately anyway.

All I have is a Gateway laptop I bought 1-1/2 years ago which has a basic graphics card and 4Gig of RAM. My processor is a 2.3gHz Intel I believe. I run the game with low graphics settings at 51FPS. I can increase graphics settings with varying results. But, until I can afford to buy a decent desktop, I'm happy racing with the low settings. I'm still competitive in the splits I run normally.

Yea having two GPU´s is somewhat worthless in iRacing.
Thankfully i bought my computer with Battlefield 3 in mind so i´m sure my two nukes will do some work in October :)

Hopefully iRacing starts to realise that everything doesn´t have to be run on the CPU...

How come I'll win a race without incidents and get +.13 SR and the guy in 2nd with 4 incidents got +.18 or more? And he was A license and I am only C.

I dont know, I still dont fully understand it! Yesterday, did the same race twice (nVidia cup Okayama) clean race both times (0 inc), +22 for the first +52 for the second..

He probably had only 0x and 1x incidents, like lightly bumping another car and touching the grass.

Edit: Ok, that makes no sense since you didn't have any incidents...

because his Inc per race is higher then yours, and his SR is lower. both toghter, something like that. :) :sly:

the licence don´t say anything about the driver skills. watch out for higher level iR rating, thats in the end importend. ;)

I get easily over 200fps almost all the time. Every so often it will drop to 150 or so. It seems like with 2 580's you should be able to keep it over 100fps easy. Does it really take that much power to run 3 screens? Are you using the older nvidia drivers or the newer one? I had to switch back to an older one, and it helped me probably double my fps in iracing.
gtx 570
i7 950 not overclocked
16 gig ram
I run everything at max except I don't turn the virtual mirrors on higher quality. It seems like the most taxing setting on my pc is turning on the virtual mirros to higher quality.

Rudi I got a question for you, I've been having clean races except for the 0x's and am still getting hit on SR for it. Is that normal?

Are you getting any incs in the warm up, as they count as well?

Yea :) Imagine this,

CPU heavy game, GPU´s are basically not doing anything.
i7 950 4.2Ghz would take care of one screen so easy it´s not even funny, i also run everything at it´s absolute max on one screen.
But then add two more screens that the computer needs to render and it has to keep all of them at around 100+ because it´s 120Hz screens.
Then you have a nice feature in iRacing called "render each screen separately"
which in theory be three times as heavy on your computer then having one screen.

I´m using Nvidia Driver 275.33, i noticed 280. was released yesterday or so, have you tried it? :)

Next step for my computer is upgrading the i7 to something that holds 5Ghz aircooled but that´s atleast a year or two from now.
When i bought this computer i said 5 years i´ll keep it.

Thanks for the read, thought I had to wait till September to upgrade from rookie license. My plan is to get to A license by end of October. Should be a challenge but will be fun.

I haven't tried 280 yet, but the reviews so far on the iracing forum do not sound good. People are saying they are still having problems with it. I had problems with 275.33 as have many other people. You might want ot give 270.61 a try. That fixed all the problems I was having with iracing. It runs super smooth. Last night on Road Atlanta during a test session, I was getting over 350-400fps most of the time, and with 275.33 I would have been lucky for it just to run stable for an entire session.

Really?
I have to fix that then :)

Edit: It´s strange because Nvidia and iRacing are partners so you would think Nvidia would create better drivers ;)

Edit2: Around 20 fps increase on one screen it seems :)

Ok! Now that I hate you, how the hell did you do it so fast!!! StarMazda? I had a really really bad week laat week! Thankfully I did good on the Mustang to couter it!

Lol, just had a good days racing on Tuesday, lots of 0 inc races and a few TT's in the Lotus 79! Came as a bit of a suprise, completely forgot about the MPR thing when I was racing the Lotus.

also shocked I got a 0 inc race the other day in the Star Mazdas, half a second between me and 1st for over 20 laps on Okayama, both had 0 inc.

It doesn't make any sense that they don't wrk together a little more to try and fix the driver issues they have. It's also wierd that iracing has to have such a high FPS rate to run decent. If it drops below about 80 or so FPS the game runs horrible. If I turn on the higher detail mirror setting and use one of the newer nvidia drivers, the game is unplayable on some tracks because of the stuttering. With the older driver though it runs perfect everytime on every track no matter how many cars are on the screen.

I know the witcher 2 game also had a few issues with nvidia cards, and it also seems to run a little better with that older driver on my system. I can run max settings except for the uber sampling with it and keep above 50fps almost all the time on it. With the driver you were running I was dropping down in the 30s alot.

I lock the game at 60 fps, but I'm getting some stuttering depending on the track so I'll try the old Nvidia driver to see if it works here.

Hey Jav, seen you were in the Mustang race with me last night.👍

Been working on manually shifting the Mustang. Downshifting without the clutch is starting to come to me now. Ran my fastest lap at The Glen boot of a 2.07.8xx in the stang while shifting. So much fun to rip through the gears in that thing.

Also bought the Riley DP and all I can say is wow. That car is awesome. Got to watch curbing though in that thing especially at the bus stop at the glen. It went very wrong a few times there in practice.

Lock it at 84 or above for 60Hz screens. That way you get the smoothest possible experience.

If I lock mine at 84 it runs awful. I stutters pretty bad if it gets below about 100. I'm on a plasma though, so maybe that makes a difference.

how about a technical thread?

and if we are open here more and more threads, maybe one day iRacing will get once an own sub. ;)

Man I'm struggling for speed on the Mustang this week, last week had 4 wins and 5 podiums on Summit point, but this week on Watkins I've been 2 secs off the fastest lap... Spun myself out on the race last night at the chicane and went into the tires and out of the race.
You were pretty fast on quali, how did it go on the race?

The DP is tons of fun! But the new cars seem to have killed that series, i'll definitely be racing the DP this week if there's enough people to make it entertaining!

I have an Acura ARX-01C race up on the hosted sessions. Join my session (Shinya Michimi). Race will be starting in about an hour.

after I cleaned up my computer and started running the GAME BOOSTER, I'm running at 50 FPS. I was running at 30 FPS before that, I honestly think it looks fine
