Interesting that this tokyo discussion pops up on the morning that the video of the caterham driving around it gets posted ^^.

Is it a fantasy track? Its obviously not a real track but the roads and location are real, so in theory it could be used as a real street circuit.

Well, its a fictional circuit based in a real location.

Problem is that iracing laserscan their stuff. So all the other stuff must be there if you want a Tokyo street circuit. I would love to see it, very nice track actually but it´s not realistic.

1. Close down what probably is one of the most hectic places on earth, that means getting help from the Japanese goverment.

2. Then building a pit lane, all the race signs etc.

In theory it´s possible for sure but in reality probably impossible.

Na it isnt gonna happen, and to be quite frank I am glad of that, there are better places they should be investing their time, like the Nurburgring.

Funny that you say that. I´ve been an active voice regarding getting the Nords in the game.

It´s a mandatory track for ALL racing sims. Just imagine it being laserscanned!

They said that it would take a month to scan the track during night, then a full year to complete and use up all of the resources (artists) to get it done meaning there would be no other tracks for a year.

So they are trying to get as many tracks as possible in the game before possibly starting work on Nords.

I said i would pay $500 easily if it came.

That would be so awsome!! Seing a 50+ mixed class grid on that track should really be something!

yeah mixed class racing is a lot of fun on the nordschieffe w/ 30 or more other cars on the track. there was this german league that ran/runs the VLN 2005 rfactor mod, it'd be interesting to see something like a 5 hour or more race there in iracing.

its fun to drive alone, but passing is really hard because the track is so narrow. heavy breaking pts or long straights are usually the easiest places.

Say all I want to progress up to is the Nascar vehicles like the Camping World Series Truck, the Nationwide Series car and the Sprint cup car. How much would need to be spent just to progress that far?

The truck is Class C. It's also one of if not the most popular series in iRacing.

The Legends and Street Stock or Late Model cars are all you need to get to class C. So you could spend nothing over the entry fee and included cars / tracks to progress to C, I believe.

Add on the truck and ten or fifteen tracks. It'll take at least three months to work up to class C. So three months and about $150-200.

It's so worth it. I don't do anything on the oval side, but I bought everything for the road side. I don't drive many of them as I have been concentrating on the Star Mazda but I play around with the DP, F1 and Lotus every once in awhile, the Vette and Mustangs are SLUGS but people like them so no harm, no foul. I don't know how much it cost because I bought them 2 or 3 at a time so it didn't really seem like much. But I can tell you that iRacing is good enough that once I found it I haven’t even turned on my GT5. I stopped playing GT5 that day and never came back. Well I did once and was so shocked at how UNREALISTIC GT5 is, and I was one of those fighting everybody who said GT5 was ARCADY. Everything about iRacing is more realistic (Even the graphics as real life isn’t as HDR as GT5). But scheduled races, practices and qualifying, painting your cars, points for wins, true seasons-different track each week. No bouncing off each other and winning a race. If you damage your wing you feel it in the down force. And it gets better all the time. Every 13 weeks before the new season starts they update something. The big thing now is the new tire model. Making it even more realistic.

I understand that GT5 has all the pretty cars, I liked that as well, but once I started iRacing I felt like I was a real driver and I stuck with one car as if I was going through a real season. Practice the first part of the week, then qualify before a race then race. Start the process over the next week. I didn't really have the desire to drive 500 different cars anymore. I have been with them almost 3 months and still don't miss GT5. At the time I thought I could never live without GT5. BTW I don't work for iRacing, LOL just giving my story. From a guy that defended GT5 from all the nay sayers to someone that has seen the light. I am not saying it is for everybody. I like the more serious realism of having seasons. If you are the type that just wants a less organized get together where you can try different cars then GT5 is the game for you. But if you want it as close to real as possible meaning racing only 1 or 2 cars for a 12 week time frame and trying to end up with the most points, then iRacing is it.

It’s worth the special they are running just to try the Mazda and see the track realism.

I started with the 3 months for the price of one deals back in February... added a year of subscription after the first month when they ran that promo for St. Patricks day. Got 25 free credits for buying 75... so I used that for my subscription.

Its a hell of a lot of fun! Got my D license at the beginning of April and learned pretty quickly how bad I am with the Mustang. Having a ton of fun learning it and some of the tracks I'm less famililar with... thankfully season 2 is starting at Laguna Seca!

Quite honestly, I don't get why a Console game gets compared to a PC Subscription so much. They cater to different markets so it makes no sense to me. I enjoy both for different reasons and despite any physics differences, I have fun most of all.

I think they are compared because they are both supposedly racing simulators. I just compare them because they are the only 2 racing games I ever really got into. But I agree, each game has it's market and then some people that will enjoy both. Personally I was just giving my story that once I found iRacing I couldn't get back into GT5. I wish I could. It would be nice to have a variety but I can't. But who knows, maybe in 15 or 20 years when GT6 is released I may come back. But then again, by that time the PC's simulators will be even more AMAZING.

Only 50!? :)

We have already done an event at Spa for 2.4 hours with 60 racers! ;)

So i´m expecting atleast a 100 people duking it out on the ´Nords.

Don't get too excited, they havent even announced that they are planning to scan Nurburgring/Nordschleife in the near future yet. They still have to scan it and create the track, considering how many other tracks they have to do first I would not expect iRacing to have Nordschleife for atleast 2 years.

Just think how long it took them to release Spa, a relatively small project compared.

No matter, just thinking of Spa makes me feel funny in the pants!

Spa's my absolute fav. I pre-ordered it as soon as it was available and it's just perfect. The new pit row is just gonna make hosted races with tons of cars so much fun.

If you guys are up for some endurance racing then please let me know :)

I´ve been hosting 2 events already with ISRAleague.com, one at SPA, but we did not quite get 60 people.

And one on Sebring were we were full :) 40+ drivers for 2.4 hours with 3 different classes is just simply amazing!

We call it "stints" now since driver swaps hasn´t been implemented yet. Hopefully in the build after it will come. Together with the two other ALMS cars ;)

Oh and, pretty much every track has gotten way more pitstalls now aswell. So i don´t think Spa will be the only track with the ability to hold 60 racers.

I can let you guys know here if you want when the next event will go off if ya like ;)

Let me know when you do another one. I'd love to run a Riley dp or something.

And for those wondering. I have been working on a GTPlanet paint for the Riley DP. Gonna work on and MX5 and F1 car after that. Maybe mustang too.

Just leave your last name in a PM to me if you want your name on the rear wing Iof the DP when I get it done.

As soon as I'm all set and have a bit of experience under my belt I will let you know! I like the concept!
