wait wait wait.....WHAT????? Driving assists in iRacing??? Wow that is a freakin TERRIBLE idea! I seriously hope they reconsider this decision. Even if it's restricted to the rookie series, it going to encourage new players to rely on driving aids and pick up bad habits. This is just....bad. 👎

Dude, just think about it. Do you realize how much they're gonna have to go through to implement those systems?

I think it's amazing. It's another sign of iRacing's coming complete dominance of racing games. With all of 2.0's features and the extra polish that just keeps on coming along in the next few months there's really gonna be no reason to race anywhere else. They're adding driving aids so they can get in a whole new market of "on the fence" aspiring sim drivers.

It's gonna bring in a lot more people and that's always good man. And why would you worry about people "relying" on aids when you can simply turn them off in any race? Yeah, there'll be guys hosting casual sessions to learn to race with each other but they all know that eventually they have to learn to drive purely without aids to get into real races so it's not a problem.

The only reason I race in GT5 is because of the sheer number of cars and I tolerate the physics 'cause they're up to par with most sims (with a few exceptions) and I'm used to the style from playing GT in the past so much.

After I move to Australia in June, I'm probably never going back to the PS3 and will happily have my PC rig in tow in order to dedicate myself fully to iRacing. The timing couldn't be better for me.

You know that the Solstice and I believe the MX5 already have ABS right? I think they are a good idea to help the rookies get used to the physics work in this sim vs. others. I highly doubt it will "encourage" people to rely on the aids as well, I am faster in the Solstice if I brake right up to the point just before the ABS kicks in, thus negating the fact its even there, plus at least last time I raced either car there was close to no need for a TCS system, neither had the power to spin the tires unless you tried on purpose to do so, and that just lead to bad starts in the races anyway, again negating the need for that aid.

And that Acura they are releasing in August has TCS IRL, the F1 used to, its not like "only newbs and loosers" use it in professional racing.

You can only use the driving aids in the rookie series anyway, and the first thing you do in rookie is try to get out of rookie. A lot of members leave iRacing because they are not fast or competitive often because they have difficulty driving the cars, if they can be eased into it with the driving aids then iRacing will retain more members, something iRacing needs is to attract and keep new rookie sim racers.

If you use them they will make you slower if you can already drive the cars decently, and if you're a good fast driver you won't be in rookie long enough for it to matter anyway.

It just keeps getting better and better :)

Here´s another cool video showing of the updated Skippy car on Okayama, both of which will be free!

Driving aids is only for Rookie and it´s a good idea for newcomers, not everyone had experience from other titles like we had.
It won´t make you faster, it just let´s you to focus on the racing line without worrying about the rear end stepping out or lockin the brakes.

It´s a good idea, i had plenty of experience in racing sims but man, to get the most out of the Slowstice was extremely hard. Now it´s the Mazda which is extremely fun to drive.

I just relised something: with the upcoming introduction of the Acura ARX-01C, there's now potential for a mock ALMS series. My only question though is how many classes can you have on track at the same time? I mostly only see 2 at the most.

AFAIK they will be using the Ford GT-R or whatever its called as a GT2 car the Corvette as a GT1 car and then the Acura to stand in for LMP in the official series, well thats the rumor I heard back in Jan.

In hosted racing you can have up to 4 cars I believe.

Nope not yet but maybe in a few days (with the new build)
For now it´s three classes and yes everybody wants an ALMS series,
with ARX-01c, GT1 & GT2.

Will be epic for sure. then add night racing which you can find on virtualr.com
Looks pretty good.

Damn! This thread makes me want to make the jump to iracing! I need a better computer, all I have is a 5 year old lap top wich I don't think can ahndle it...

There are a bunch of demos on Steam and other websites that are similar and . Race On, GTR Evolution, GT Legends, GTR 2 Demo, Race 07 that came out years ago and your computer probably can handle it.

there are a bunch of 3 month for $10 codes out there. you should wait till right before they expire to use the codes so you can get a chance to try out the new tire model.

W/ everything maxxed out and starting in the back of the grid, the game can be pretty taxing on a midrange/highend system

Should clear up any thoughts Jav.

I googled that site. The second result was from GiantBomb forums. Oddly, they have been down for the last few days like PSN.

"Around 1AM PDT on Thursday, our network of sites went down due to a large failure at the Northern Virginia data center of Amazon, where its Elastic Block Storage (EBS) product is held. Being a pretty popular provider of cloud-based storage, the shutdown also took down several other high-profile websites, including Reddit, Foursquare, and Quora.

Although it would be easy to directly pass the buck onto Amazon for our downtime, we've been extremely happy with them over the years and realize things like this happen from time to time. The Whiskey Media "Top Men" take pride in our architecture and our ability to provide a stable environment for you to goof off with on the Internet..."

You guys missed one awsome event, 2.5 hours 40+ drivers at Spa :)

Just thought i would go ahead and post this picture, i remember someone saying iRacing isn´t impressive graphically.

100% gameplay, what you see is what you get if your computer can handle it.

Only thing done is contrast to make it look more like night.

Damn that's impressive!
What kind of budget friendly pc would you guys recomend as a dedicated i racing pc?

That's been all over the news. Amazon runs the largest cloud server service. An automated command erroneously backed up all its servers and took up all their free disc space. What is weird is that both Amazon and PSN were targeted, unsuccessfully during the past few months. Anon. said they didn't take down the PSN, but didn't rule out that some of their members did it on their own.

EDIT: Just caught this past week, on MAVTV I think, about how the most consistent, best iRacer, this dude from Finland, was brought to Atlanta to run a real race car. Other then melting in the heat he did great.

And I found the video on YouTube.

Is anybody curious in making a Team GTP? I think it would be pretty cool

I'd say that would be awesome. I already have one car in GTP colors, perhaps I could draft up more if enough interest comes around.

Yep, i'm working on a GTP Riley DP right now. I just can't find a good hq photo of the GTP logo.

If you sign up, there are loads of people with expertise in what you should buy, they know because they have the game.

Sign up for 3 months, $10 that´s nothing. Get the absolute best tips there and buy your computer, join iracing and get AMAZED!

Just did a race at Mid-Ohio, started 17th ended 3rd with super hard battles from start to finish!

Fantastic stuff.

The 3 month for the price of 1 is definitely worth it for anybody to try. If you're decent and a clean driver you will quickly find yourself out of rookie with a D licence, that is where the money needs to be spent. You need (for road racing) either the Mustang or the Skip Barber car and a few tracks to be able to progress any further, unless you want to continue racing in rookie events (which is quite ok and fun to do) it gets expensive from there on, the more you progress the more money you need to spend.

I really wanna get into it! But when you say spend money, what do you mean?
