I feel it is best to solve this issue and I have your solution. Just trade your non-performing machine for mine which works absolutely fine. My machine is far lower spec than yours, but ALL IMPORTANTLY no worrying bar on it! :)

Shame about the fuel, but nice job on the race.

I actually thought I was reading a genuine solution and was getting excited. How mean.
;)

Damn!! I just got screwd out of the fixed Indy championship on my Div!! Damn! I was lapping a guy and he decided to slow down to let me past in the worst part of the track practically parking on the apex of turn 3 leaving me no room tu make the turn without going off. I was running 6th and catching up 5th but got damaged and forced to pit. ended up finishing 14 loosing 67 iR and 11 SR, hopefully I'll get into an official race before tomorrow's deadline and score the points I need! 45 points down at the moment...

Gutted for you.

I've had a good couple of days. Gone from D 1.7ish to D 3.3ish :). One more slow, safe skippy race tomorrow and I'll be set for promotion to class C in the road discipline!

Decided to treat myself the other night, bought the Class A for some Carb cup, the Corvette C6R as I love the car in GT5 and my new favourite the Radical! Awesome car to drive!

I now know which series I'm 100% running for the foreseeable future! So easy to drive, yet I have to fight with my wheel! Only running basic setups too, so need to delve into the sub-forums and find a good setup!

Thats sounds awful. Normally you shouldnt try to get out of the way as a lapped car and if anything stay on the outside no the inside......Good luck getting the points back. 67iR ?? what kind of scale is this out of. seems a little harsh,

iRating Blaze, it shows how competitive you are. You are placed in your division acording to that rating. You start off your carrer with a preset value of iRating, as you progress trough you gain or loose iRating. You have a certain value of iRating at play each race, depending on how many spots you make up or loose you gain or loose iRating, in some ocations you can loose a couple of possitions and still gai iR because you gained from another competitor.
This value also determines your grid spot if you didn't qualified and wich split you are placed on on races. You always want to be on a top split because the people that know how to race are there and are way less likely to make a dumb move and take you out.

Blaze_409: to give you an idea, the best of the best are above 5000 iRating. Most people I see are somewhere between 1000-2000 iRating.

Yup, I absolutely love the Radical. I like the Lotus 79 as well, and I'm REALLY looking forward to the Lotus 49, as I'm a big GPL fan and it was my favorite car on that sim as well. The Radical is an excellent balance of everything I think, challenging but forgiving, fast but not too fast, and excellent immersion.

I'm tentatively planning to run the Skippy (my second season), Radical (my first season) and Lotus49 (my first season) next season. Strange for me because I have always been a tin-top pilot and never ran open-wheelers until iRacing.
:)

Yeah, that radical is a blast. It feels like I am on the edge all the time which is exhilarating even if my lap times are 5s behind the good pilots!
:)

I'm planning to run the Silverado and the C6.R in season 1. Hope they don't tweak the Silverado NTM too much as I have some pretty good sets for it. I got some work to do on the C6.R setups though. I have a few that seem to work well at many tracks, but could use some small adjustments per track.

Also going to run as many of the World Tour events as possible. Looking like I'll be able to do the 2.4 hrs of Daytona and Daytona 500 coming up next month.👍

My goal for this year is to see if I can get my iRatings into the 3000's. I currently have a 2,7xx for road and 2,4xx for oval. Its not far off, but the competition is pretty stiff right now. Like to add, even when you get into higher iRated races, its not all milk and cookies. Yes, most know how to race and have good racecraft, but egos start to get in the way and cause some issues from time to time.

Egos? On the internets? Never! lol :)

Good luck with your series. I'm going to spend some time with the Mustang I think. Need to get my head around setups. I know nothing about the subject so figured picking a car I like would be a good start :)

I got a nice Mustang skin for you!! Metallic paint and all!

Well I will be doing the Indy fixed series, For real now! I totally regret not doing the Laguna race, and only doing the Zandvoort just last night that championship could've been mine! Just hope there's a drop race...
Grand Touring series, now with the Solstice on the mix it should really spice things up!
Proto/GT, still not sure if I'll go with the Vette or HPD. If the Vette gets a good tweak on the NTM and becomes more driveable I'm all for it, if not I'm going with the HPD really starting to trust this car and am getting better times and results just wish the damage model gets revised, currently it gets terminal damage if you look at it wrong!
Lastly, wishing the V8 Super Car gets the NTM and actually makes it driveable!

Yeye, just to say Road Pro Series ended and now I am a DWC driver.

So happy about that. Hope you all follow this year's Nvidia Grand Prix Series (World Championship).

:D

@Jav: The Mustang skin would be much appreciated mate 👍

Also, does anyone have a list of cars that don't have the NTM (isn't the Mustang and Corvette among them?) :)

Speaking of egos, as much as I love the iRacing community, seems most of the guys over there are EXTREMELY egotistical about iRacing when it comes to talking about any other racing sim (game). These guys think if any of the new games aren't exactly like iRacing, they are automatically terrible.

Oh well, if I stay out of those threads on the forums it makes it much easier, because other than my old GPL league I was in several years ago, iRacing has some of the best racing I've ever experienced.

The Vette got the NTM at the begining of this season, I'll send it to you in a bit!

Whoa! Just finished the last race of the season, Indy fixed. It all went well, 0 incidents +17SR, +25iR, started 14th and worked my way up to 11th. Killed my tires opening a gap but managed to hold 12th place behind. God this was a crazy fast paced race! 2 Pro drivers 3 drivers with iRs over 4500 and a whole bunch of a licensed drivers. Had to really fight for 11th place, at the end got 74 points out of this race think I needed 77 to take the championship but I'm not sure... It's gonna be tight! Hoping for there's 1 drop race on this series, if there is my chances for the championship are pretty good! I'll let you guys know!

Edit: There's 1 drop race! Oh God! I have a chance, oh God the anxiety! Sitting on 3rd place with 185pts, 2nd place has 192 and 1st has 211. Let's see how it goes after the drop race, hoping the other guys did the full season!

Hi guys, just popped in to say hello, I got iracing about a week ago after upgrading my pc. thread

I am enjoying it so far and was surprised by the fact it felt instantly better than any other racer I have played. I have only used the MX5 cup so far and it's been great fun.

I think I may have got lucky with the last race of the season, after the race my SR was 4.45 which auto promoted me to D class with 3.45 SR, am I right in assuming I will now get promoted again to C class because it's the season end?

I fancy having a go with the Mustang next, only thing is it will cost me about £80 but I suppose you only need to buy the tracks once lol.

Also, does fixed mean no tuning and what is week 13 all about?

Unfortunatelly no, you needed to do the minimum requirements for class C wich are 4 races on a D class series. I sugest you do it on the Grand Touring Cup, that way you won't have to invest in a new car and will fastrack it to C if that's what you'd like.

Do you still have chance to complete your MPR in week 13?

The reason I ask this, is that I'm still 1 race away from promotion to the dizzy heights of class C. Logged on this evening to race in the 23.45 (gmt) skippy race to only find no races between 22.00 & 24.00!

So close yet so far!

Only for rookie class, maybe if you get a World Cup race in on the Star Mazda you'll be good, not sure what the license requirements are for that series...

How many hours do you guys need to dedicate to iracing to get a good decent string of results etc?

I don't have much time on my hands so would like to get a good idea. I don't think its fair to say its not much of an investment as each race is only "30 mins" etc as if you don't put in the hours to practise, your race will be much shorter than that (you'll crash!).

So on for a noob to medium experienced driver, per track would take...2 hours to get ok at? + time trail + race + qualifying, what are we looking at here?

Will,my simple suggestion is don't qualify on your first 3 race. so you start at the back, with no one chasing you from behind and causing you to crashes. let others in front crash or not and try to avoid that mess, and race clean (try not to get to the grass or short cut ) .

time trial is if you ready to increase your license. (8 clean laps is required) per TT and need 4 time trials but depends if your SR is above 3 or not.

practice and race is where you need to be when you first starting.
so try practice for 1 hour, until you stop spinning out for 10 laps straight and your time is reasonable. then start your race straight away after that. 1 race is all you need to learn .you'll have so much fun

you don't need to invest many time or you can invest as many time as you like, ie once you get the hang of the car, you can stick to it and only race once a week if you want
even practice online is always fun, you try to tail others that have better time than you and learn from there ( watch their brakelights!!!) and read the guide online ( so worth it)
oh and during race remember to breathe :)

So do you mean 1 hour a day? Or a week?

And what do you mean by all I need to learn is one race? So say for the Mazda, all I need to learn is one track? I thought you go through a season and will go through a number of different tracks? This will mean I need to invest a bit of time to learn each track etc.

I probably would like to do more than 1 race a week though given the money involved.

In the rookie Mazda cup there is a two track rotation that switches each week. So what he means it that you can practice for 1 hour a week and enter 1 race and feel satisfied. You were concerned about time, so that is the min that makes sense in iRacing.

If you want to put in more time you can run a new Mazda cup race each hour for the rest of time. Or after a few races you can add the advanced rookie. oval and have more than you can do pretty quickly. :)

There is no right answer to how much one needs to practice. Some get up to speed in a hour or less and others take a week or longer. Just make sure you're running clean and consistent laps before entering races.

From past rookie Miata series, only two tracks are used for the season. They alternate week to week between them. Its always been Lime Rock and Okayama short circuits. At least since I've joined last June.

You can do as many races as you like. There is no minimum or maximum amount of races needed. Some weeks I'll race one or two and others I might run ten or so races. Depends on my schedule. Nice thing about iRacing is that even if someone has a busy schedule, races can usually be found at anytime depending on the series. The rookie series usually has no trouble filling up with racers around the clock.

I finally convinced myself to get iracing after being bribed with numerous screenshots by Jav haha. I reasoned that the 49 for a year is about the same as an Xbox Live membership so I wouldnt feel guilty lol. I guess I'll just work an extra hour or 2 at my campus job each time i want to get a new track or car..Seems like a fair trade off. Especially with GT5 going haywire Im not particularly interested in playing that game unless I have to.

Lol!! Just in time for the week 13 madness! Welcome to iRacing Blaze! You'll do just fine! And with the Intel GT Cup up and running this week you'll be out of rookie in no time! I'll hook you up with some good leagues too!

Cheers for the info. I did some further reading and found some guides online, seems to best way to get the most out of it is to spend a lot of time, read driver notes, post race discussions, set ups etc. I'll get it once life frees up a bit. If i do get iracing, i want to take it seriously, and seriously means i need more time!

You don't HAVE to spend a ton of time with it. If you want to truly be competitive, you pretty much stick with one or two series max and get really really good at that car.

For the rest of us who enjoy fighting for 3rd or 4th or 5th (or even 14th) we don't have to spend 40hrs a week messing with setups and extracting every single 0.01 seconds there is to be had. I play this game a maximum of 10hrs a week, and that's including a 2-3hr endurance race with my league on the weekends. If I stopped playing Grand Prix Legends (which I won't) I'm sure I would spend about 15-20hrs a week playing. I don't bother with setups, if it's an open setup series, I go to the iRacing forums or any of the setup sites and download a few setups that have already been made and use whichever one feels best for my driving style. Each time a track comes up that I'm not completely familiar with, I'll spend maybe 30-45 minutes doing laps that gradually get faster and then I'm done. The rest of my "practice" comes during actual races.

Didn't mean for my post to be that long, but to truly enjoy the game, you could probably spend 2-3 hours a week and have just as much fun as anyone else. If you are the type who can't handle not finishing in the top 3 the majority of the time, yeah, you are going to have to spend some time with it, especially as you get to higher licenses and more serious series.

Looking around the site last night then I think I'll be able to do it that way. The World Cup races where class D. Will have to buy the Mazda though. Will look at the radical schedule and get a couple tracks too for the discount.
