You running lmp1 @Neutty

I am, will try to be at practice to run a few laps as well. We had a nice practice last night in Bambi's room (thanks @Whitetail ). I only hit one GTE car, so it was a plus :sly:

just remember everyone, it is much better for the GTE drivers NOT to try to get out of the faster cars way unless it is early and your intention is obvious.
Drivers in the faster class have already planned their path to pass you, so please don't do anything unexpected; that is how the incidents occur. Be predictable. Stay on the racing line in corners, drive normal, do not try to swerve off it thinking you are helping them get by. Drive normal and predictable and everyone should be good.
This is from my experience in these multiclass events. Crashes almost always occur because the slower car tries to get out of the way thinking they are being "safe"; then they end up right in the passing lane where and when the LMP1 driver has planned/committed to go and they cant react fast enough in some spots on track to back out/avoid.
And to the faster class drivers, have some patience, lots of places to pass safely and easily here; time lost in a busy corner is much less than limping back to the pits under full damage!

Question:

Will the lap count for the race be reevaluated after qualifying to place all rooms close to the target 2h24m race time, or will all rooms run the currently-listed 40 laps regardless of the time it will take to do so?

GTP ID: MikeGrove
PSN ID: MikeGrove
Class: Any
Car #: 5, 55, 05 all ok!
Car: Any available
Team: Snail
Primary Sponsor: Turismo Racing

I do not.

Is there more that I need to do @aceboy127 ?

If it’s the car number holding me up, I will take the 555. My good Snail Racing buddy @SAMHAIN85 is concerned that I am not fully registered.

Would using a turn signal work to tell the approaching driver as to our intentions’

I'll get you added. That's all the LMP1 spots taken as well. 3 LMP2 spots left.

Also, if everyone could please check to see if everything is correct on the entry list. For some reason some of the entries have disappeared previously. I went through just to check to make sure everyone was there, but I just want to make sure I don't miss someone.

I'd personally say it depends how early the driver indicates and how bright/noticeable the signals are. I use mine on the run up to Indianapolis to let the cars behind me know that I don't plan on taking the apexes in the kinks to let them pass. Don't want a repeat of this:

It should be stated though that passing traffic should remain skeptical of signals. It can be an intense race at times and they can be left on/off depending on the situation.

Thank you @aceboy127
I really can’t wait to endure a long race with you again, after so many years. I have gone so far since your GT500 league with Lloydz juicy beans, cross, griffin...

That was my 1st experience racing in a high level, organized Gran Turismo league & I still cherish those days on GT6 back in 2014-15

Thank you @SAMHAIN85 for looking out & helping me once again brother!
I’m lucky to have a spot.
👍
Here’s to a good clean race!

for me personally, i never even notice them except in replays or at night.
That being said, i can try to alert myself to start looking out for it. Of course, not sure what a right blinker would mean; does that mean YOU are staying to the right on track? or you want the car to pass you on the right?

LOL
aren't the standards different depending on the track? I seem to recall the nurburgring had special rules years ago regarding the blinkers that seemed opposite to my common sense...

For this race it will be likely that the GT classes will be lapped roughly 6 times throughout the race. In real racing the lapped cars have the right to the racing line and the lapping car has to find a way around them. I don't see why that wouldn't work here and it requires patience on both ends.

Yeah, i wasnt really referring to the high speed kinks on that straight (more thinking of the slower speed corners), so you have a point; It seemed like in practice all the GTE cars were staying to the left on those to let the LMP1's take the inside of the kink since we're at such a high relative speed. And murphy's law says that is exactly the spots where we will meet on those straights. :dopey:

(more thinking of the slower speed corners)
The slower speed corners are naturally more difficult to negotiate in a multi-class environment. At lower speeds, I'm sure you know that the apex speeds between all of the classes are actually really close together as the prototypes lose their aerodynamic advantage.

I don't think I'm going to be pulling over for anyone in the low speed corners like Arnage and the chicanes. The most I can comfortably do is brake a little earlier to let a car that's alongside and can clear before turn-in through, but I can only do that if there's no one immediately behind me to destroy my backside. Something GTE cars should definitely not be doing is weaving out of the way on the exit of the corner or literally parking it in the middle of the turn to let someone by. I think that goes without saying but I never cease to be surprised.

The VLN/Ring Rats will be having a 90 min race for IRS practice for the IRS 2.4 and fun. We will race on Sunday at 1330 Central . IRS settings and rules will apply plus our rule of "if you have someone off which causes the other car to pit, you will follow him to the pits. You may take tires and Fuel but upon leaving you must let the car you had off pass before you can race" it simulates a "drive through and penalty".

If I’m in your way, just use the chrome horn, that’s the same as I’d be doing if I was in the faster class, especially with how disappointed in my life choices I’ll be during this race.
