đź‘Ť Could not have described the game better. You have agree though, it is the best GT to date. Work in progress, but still the best.

I personally would rather not have standard cars at all, they were made long time ago for the previous generation of consoles. They have got to retire already. Yes there are missing tracks, (lots of them), and we can't do part of a long race in B spec anymore.... We didn't get some promised feautures like youtube uploader and telemetry... What angers me the most is I feel that they have held back on features so when they come out GT6 on PS4, they can have more selling points.... Another problem is that Sony did heck of a job of marketing the thing and it made our measuring sticks really long... if you know what I mean.

It is the best GT to date but not what we were expecting. Like I said on a comment earlier, there was too much internet hype, rumours and BS surrounding GT5, it was always going to disappoint

In part yes, but overall no. I'd give this game an 11/10

But I know what you mean, I really don't get the standard cars thing. Especially with the cockpit view. Sure have standard cars, 1000 cars is a lot. But at least let us have cockpit view with the big details and not every single detail yet, just so we can have it. I hope they have updates so that more cars are made premium cars.

And yeah, why don't they let us do a standing start on the TG track? We want to test cars they haven't tested and we want to see how close we are to The Stig with cars they have. Why can't we just have the option to do either a rolling or standard start on ALL tracks?

The Nurburgring is in there. Both the GP circuit and the other name that also starts with N but is even more confusing to spell.

Is there really a lot of emphasis on B-spec? Shows how much I pay attention, but yeah, no one buys GT for B-spec primarily

I'm not even going to start on how much you contradict yourself.

I think GT5 isn't really unfinished, in a way that it would never be finished. Kaz's dream is just to work on it forever and show a few teasers here and there, he should go and work in Hollywood.

Considering I can not get on the servers 5 days after purchase, yes I would say I am slightly disappointed. OK, let me correct that, I am pissed off!!

Get with it Sony and get your act in gear.

As Much as I love the new GT5 there are some thing's I dislike.

1) The Whole level system in General Pisses Me Off!
2) The "Standard" and "Premium" car System. All the good car's are to be bought Used and then I cant change their wheels ? No Aero Enhancement ? Complete S***!
3) The paint situation, We were better off without paint than the new Paint system.

Yesterday I bought a Berlina Black S2000 so my FD2 could have Black wheel's. Those wheels cost me over $30,000. Car + Wheels + Paint = Not worth it!
On top of that, Next time I want to put black wheels on something I'll have to buy another Black car.

Apart from mechanical damage AND AI. But to answer your main question about having multiple topics on what people don't like about the game, yes we do need them because it's an open forum where people come to discuss their views about GT, or maybe you'd like everyone to bury their head in the sand and praise GT5?
People complain there is no mechanical damage which would a penalty for wreckless driving then turn around complain about the AI hitting them when they try to force they way around the inside corners. The AI does hit me often when we are going into a corner three wide. This is a bad idea even in Nascar. I learn if I patience and wait for an opening to pass the AI is a lot less likely to ram me. The AI does know that I'm there as I pass the AI on the inside of the corner many times. I've also seen case where the aI when around me and another AI car which just crashed. If course the AI has trouble avoid me if this happens in the corners.

It's funny how the atmosphere here is so humid and thick with all the rants and complaints, yet just beside this thread is a sub-forum of Photomode and Tuning and people are having the time of their life.

Everyone is entitled to his/her own opinion, I know that.

But when it comes to it, most of you are bringing up complaints, and you are bringing them up as if those aspects are the only part of the game, disregarding all the positive aspects.

I am now not bothered by the standards one bit, sure they are ugly, but I never use chase cam and these cars behave just like premiums do.

Customization was never a problem for me, the fact we do have some of it is good for me, but I like to enjoy cars as they are fresh from the factory.

The only two things that need improvement are sounds and damage, and jaggies if we're talking glitches.

Other than that, this game is awesome, especially online with friends.

Just buy 10 black Toyota Yarises and you will have your black colors. It sucks that we have to find workarounds for simple things such as coloring things cars and rims

Why complain? well let me see my friends and I all purchased this game to race each other. Oh yeah we can do that because none of us can get online!!

There is so much Im disappointed in with this game, but at the same time I do like the handling enough to keep playing and deal with all the other problems.

My biggest issues right now are damage and AI. Without damage this is an arcade racer with some tuning options. I just mash my opponents out of the way since there is no consequences. I heard it unlocks at lvl40. Lol, so you have to spend 100 hours on this game before it starts acting like a sim. Great.

The AI is awful, possibly the worst ive seen in any racer ive played this gen. I was on the Indy track just an hour ago. I saw an AI car slam on the breaks with noone around him on a straight for no reason. Ive seen so many boneheaded moves by the AI that no human would ever do, and most racing games dont. Like others have said PD just forgot to tell the AI that there we are playing the game too, they are not aware of the player at all.

These 2 things really hurt the game for me. I cant even really look at it as a sim at all. Sure it has some tuning options, big deal. It's missing 2 critical components to any good sim, and that will probably kill this games replayability for me. Sure I can play online, but IVe spent time with that already and its just bumper cars. It's pretty lame.

Well I've always asked for 'real' damage i.e if you hit a wall at 120mph it's race over. The AI is poor in GT5, look to F1 2010 where it's far from perfect but streets ahead of GT5 and that's not the only part that F1 2010 excells in. The difference between a 5 year old racing game and a year and a half old racing

Again people at F1 2010 forum complain about the AI there as well. It does a good job of blocking but as the race goes on they seem to keep a certain distance from you. Then some complaint about F1 2010 AI rubber band effect, etc.
Street cars and Nascar are not the same as F1. I expect a little paint rubbing in these kind of races.

wrong thread

this one is called is anyone else disappointed....
and not - anyone elses kids think the game is great

why not start your own topic on that subject and leave the people trying to get the message across to PD so that they can improve the (so much hyped for nothing) game - is good for us we get a better product and its good for sony they sell more consoles and games in the future

Good job picking one small section of my post and being a monkey about it. nice troll effort i talk about how i like it as well and how i also have some complaints. There are a lot of valid points in the critiquing of the game. But like i said in my post if you actually bother to read it, was most go on about the same thing over and over in multiply posts, I'm not saying that it should be removed just done in a more ordered fashion. It doesn't need to dominate the main forum. Try not to have a mini rage about everything that upsets you and be a little more constructive.

No just have it in a more ordered fashion, say like in a sub area that talks about problems. I didn't say that there should be no critiquing. Just so many topics all over the place, maybe if it was in one place PD might be able to have a look ind it wont get lost in all the other posts.

Try a Fanatec wheel on FM3 - miles ahead of that crap MS Wheel. Makes a HUGE difference.

Chapman

In FM3 you can always easily recover from any oversteer. I wish GT5 had FM3's customizations and tunning. FM3 is far ahead of GT5 in that regard but in terms of handling GT5 is much better.

You can complain about this and that with GT5--and many are valid complaints--but it's the best car game on any console.

I cant be the only one? If the game had come out 2 years ago then fine, great, crackin game but what have they been doing for 3 years plus?
Where is qualifiying? Whats with the standard cars and lack of mods?
Did they realy think we wouldnt want to do a standing start at the top gear track? And where is the Nurburgring?
Why so much ephasis on b spec? Who buys Gran Turismo to watch someone else race?

On the plus side, engines sound a load better and she still drives perfect

Not me :)

Am I disappointed? Yes and no.

It's almost what I'd expect of a GT game. Every new release so far has just been a few cool features added to the last game, and not much else. The only thing that truly annoys me is that the Standard cars were too obviously ripped straight out of GT PSP. Their polygon count is almost laughable. Most of the cars I was hoping against all hope that they'd return, and I'm ecstatic that they have (as well about the additions), but given the same release date I'm curious how many Premiums Polyphony could have cranked out in their place. Or if that would have even been possible, and that's all the Standard cars were was a quick transfer.

I'm not too far into the game yet, and it might just be that my first RWD with any real power was a C5 Z06, but they went a bit overboard with the oversteer in my opinion. Gets annoying with the limited finesse that comes with trying to control these beasts with a small joystick. I need a G27 fast.

Overall, no. I'm quite happy with the game. It just needs some DLC cars and tracks. In six months, there better be a handful of Premiums and a new track or two.

I don't think I'll ever go through B-spec though. Hopefully all the reward cars are obtainable through other means.

Ed. - c'mon! Two Premium Minis and we don't get all the different GT-R variations? Pur-lease!

Yeah and like I've pointed out on the F1 2010 forum, these idiots saying that don't have a clue about Formula 1, a little research and in-depth analysis would go a long way to explaining why you can't compare it to GRID or DIRT but the good old GT super drivers have the last say lmao

and hardly anyone is talking about driving the cars. They are talking about skin deep problems that for the most part don't effect the driving experience, apart from mechanical damge:P. oh i cant change rims , i cant paint my car what ever colour i want blahblah. I would be more upset if people where saying the cars handle like they do in forza, or that the tracks didn't have the actual road bumps, Road cambers and other imperfections like so many other racing games don't have. But for the 77$ i spent i think i will get my moneys worth and then some:)

Agree, I could not care less about paint and rims, or standard/premium cars, I mostly use bumper view.

But then here is something that should upset you, even if you (we) only care about the actual driving.

If you want to teach your son how to race, then turn off ABS. Well except... don't, unless you want to invoke the new soap-on-ice mode which makes all cars skid and slip at the tiniest tap on the brake. Yes, even on sports tyres at low speeds. This actually reminds me of NFS, there you go ;)

Even with ABS, there is something really wrong with the brake balance or braking model, try fx. the Lotus challenge on TGTT (covered in other threads). You don't want to tell your son that Lotus'es really drive like that.

Using clutch? You'd better not teach him that cars go into N gear if you are too fast with it. Clutch is totally unrealistic, and for me, useless. It is the same complaint as with GT5p, why did they not fix it?

You are not using a G27 in your rig? Otherwise you would have experienced that most of it's buttons are DEAD and unconfigurable in this game, hence all functions like left/right view are unavailabe. Why?

And then the AI... major complaint before, I would say it has changed, but only to become bad in different ways, and still way behind the competition.

And the new magnetic bumpers. Just do not rub bumbers or they'll stick. Like train wagons.

All in all, driving works and can indeed be lots of fun and entertainment, but for me, at least one of the above are an annoyance in most races. This game did not receive the amount of love and attention that it's older brothers got. Yes that is disappointing.

Aside from all the mild and happy views you read here a lot (like they owe PD something) we can generally conclude that GT5 is a huge disappointment. Maybe not so much on this forum (even here it's turmoil compared to the release of GT4 or GT5P) but in my social life and the other forums I visit it's all on average negative. Most people DO understand it's a good game, but like I said, we don't expect good, we expect what we always got from PD; perfection.... people started getting used to this top notch perfection in the series, Forza had to work it's ass off to get even close and it seem with GT5 that spark which the series always had is a bit gone. They say you have to stop at your peak, I think GT4 was that, it was the most they could get out of the old franchise.

I'm not disappointed but I really do feel like im playing an incomplete or beta version sometimes. I can't really pinpoint why I feel that way I just do.

Would have been nice if the game allowed us to choose between cars being randomly chosen and user specified cars for arcade races. So I could race against any car I wanted, including custom cars in my garage. (CUSTOM RACES)

Obviously, it would be nice to be able to change rims on standard cars. Since I'm a replay kind of person, its not always nice to look at hubcaps. There is also a performance aspect to changing rims but we don't need to get into that. The whole rims issue is just downright weird to me and I really don't understand the reasoning behind blowing this feature off. From a programming perspective it is very confusing.

The game's interface is one that really takes getting used to, but once you're used to it its OK. The replay interface could also use some work. Changing from car to car is way too hard and it just seems too complex. I think most would agree that if it were more like GT4's replay mode it would be easier to use. Some replay angles are not very flattering. (Never was a fan of the mysterious floating camera, I'm more into realistic trackside angles)

Menu music for the most part is very nice but it appears that in some sections the music cannot be changed. We should at least be able to change the music we hear in the tuning shop, gt auto and dealerships. Honestly though, with the behavior of the GUI there really should be no deviation off the user modified list of songs unless the user enters an event.

I'm only trying to point out reasonable things here, not anything completely ridiculous or would require a complete overhaul of the game. The game is not perfect and its not going to be. Overall it is a really great game and I've been enjoying it since the day it came out. I'm not unhappy, I'm not disappointed, I just wanted to voice my opinion on some stuff that I felt would make the game a little better. In the end its all just opinion.

Honestly I didn't have enough time to read through all 12 pages of dissapointed consumers that drank the hype 'kool-aid' and got caught.

Software development has changed in the recent years. More and more of the majority of the civilized world are getting connected to the internet, and more rural areas are joining in as well. Along with a myriad of other factors this means that more and more content is being delivered electronically and you can actually hit more and more of the userbase. What this allows for is a 'push and patch' type of software development. Companies are truncating timelines and shortening their staff benches all in the name of profits. I've seen it first hand. Does the "problem" cause a crash? Is the game still playable? How noticable is it? We'll patch it later.

In part consumers are to blame for this all you can eat buffet of bugs and glitches because people are always looking for the next thing, the next feature and want it. 3D? Headtracking? Premium vs. Standard? There are all things that show that PD is trying to drag their old development code in to the new technological 2010. These are newly focused features that wouldn't have been thought of in 2004 when GT5 development was new and fresh. As consumers we demand more and more and we get it. More 3D! (more bugs), More Features (more code for bugs), More Cars! (more models to create). Of course there is a bit of satire in my little rant. Developers should be creating new and exciting pieces of software but as the consuming public I think we have to realise that this 'push and patch' isn't going to stop until we say it does.

Now lets call GT5 what it is. GT4 Service Pack 1. Some new features, some new bug fixes from the GT4, other features dropped for no apparant reason. It's not a complete reiteration of the game that we truly love.

Why differentiate between Premium and Standard cars?
-Well because we just didn't have time to get all of the modeling done, that's the real answer.

What about B-Spec mode, why can't we speed it up?
-The feature was removed or forgotten as an oversight ... we'll patch that later.

Why can't we change the rims on the standard cars!?
-Well to be honest, that would have just created more code for us to type and test and we just didn't have time to because we wanted to implement 3D, after all everyone loves 3D!

What about damage modeling ... why do we have to gain levels to access it when we can finish the game with B License?
-Well we didn't want to have people running around and smashing up our lovely modeling, so until you can learn to drive properly ...you can't have damage modeling. A little fender bender is okay, but anymore and we'll take your keys away.

Why can't we just have everything accessable in Arcade Mode, it is Arcade Mode after all?
-Our view here at PD is that you must earn your keep to earn your reward. Catch the flies with the chopsticks and you shall have your racetrack ohaiogozaimasu!

Yea it's a voided, long winded rant. I expected more, I wanted more. I think that over the past 6 years PD have had a lot of thoughts, wants, likes and project management meetings to go along with that. What I think they lacked is the presence of a over all project manager/project co-ordinator to make sure that that things that were promised get developed and things that SHOULD be enabled with a patch (ie: 3D, Head Tracking) are left until the appropriate stage of development.

I have much more, but I'll spare you.

Flame Away
