Is anyone else disappointed with GT5?

The thing is though from what I've heard is that PD were under pressure from Sony to include 3D compatibility and that's what took the game so long to be released and ultimately give it that half finished feel about it. The same sort of situation Sony put Quantic Dream in with move compatibility for Heavy Rain, hence they stopped making DLC for it to focus on a move version. Sony are obsessed with their gimmicks right now and they're basically forcing devs into going against their wishes.

If u were Soy and created stuff that ppl did not buy (MOVE or EYE TOY etc) would u not force it down the throat of ur customers somehow ??? These are the dirty tactics that come 2 play when the $ is involved ... I tried the MOVE on a game called FIGHT (boxing) in a demo center and man o man was it bad ... It is more fun to do shadow training that use those plastic ##### looking toys for boxing ... and they were not cheap too ! so imagine if they hook ppl up on it they end up selling EYE + MOVE + alot of crap games that support these and alot of games with good potential that get sacrificed coz of this as this GT5 !

Do I smell GT6 on the Xbox?;) Yeah I know, Sony wanted to launch GT5 with the 2010 Xmas 3D hype, so everything had to be done to make it 3D. Doesn't take away that the product we have now is under GT's standard, I hope we can see GT5 as a misstep when GT6 arrives.:)

Ive no doubt GT6 will be the absolute nuts, waiting 8 years for a proper complete gran turismo I ridiculous though. Anyone who thinks 5 is the best driving sim on the market needs their head testing IMO. Iracing is miles ahead, even forza is better than this. I'm absolutely gutted with it I really am.

Well no because as far as I know PD are (or were) a subsidiary of Sony and Sony hold all the rights to the GT series. I wouldn't call it a misstep as such, I'd call it a 5 year old game that got held back so long because of Sony's want to add a gimmick that 90% of gamers aren't bothered about and the end product is basically a cross between GT4 and a test for features for GT6

I have the WEIRDEST feeling that PD is now going to fiz these problems and sell them to us via DLC. If so, PD will have the title of D*****bag in my mind. $60 BUCKS for a video game! I think that all video games are overpriced and this will probably be the only purchased PS3 game I will ever buy due to price. You should see my games section. Full of demos. When I pay $60 bucks, I demand a great game. But then, GT5 is a great game. In fact its amazing. And many are taking it too harsh. Standard cars looks great. They perform good too (Buick Special '62 ...... EPIC FACE, EPIC FACE, EPIC FACE, EPIC FACE... **** IN MY PANTZZ.) The rain is quite amusing and the course maker is quite solid. And let's all blame Jeremy Clarkson for the toughness of the Top Gear challenge, he DOES have weird ideas anyways. Come on, who the hell goes drifting around corners all day yelling "POWER!!"? And so what if some premo interior views are better than others? They still are great. OH and ok, its laggy, so what? Think about it. Think about how many million polygons the PS3 has to render EACH SECOND. Take a minute and think. It has to draw every single polygoyn of the millions in a frame EACH SECOND! The PS3 isn't an NVIDIA GTX 480 not a RADEON 6850, its a 4 year old technology. Four years ago, they had the GeForce 7900 for $200, now people are paying to get rid of it. So what if the car delivery thing is stupid? I find it funny because it kinda looks like an IPhone app with an update ot the email app with unread messages. B-Spec? Smart people would instantly understand and .think that if they B-Bob's driving is bad, they'll wait until they have Lambos to drive in the Sunday cup and win to raise their level up. No qualification? Stop complaining, you're just mad that you need to start first to finish first in order to win (YOU MAD BRO? LOL YOU MAD). Lack of customization? Ok here, ill give you a job to take 200 cars and find as many parts as you can that fit the car in real life SEAMLESSLY... Minimum 7 per car. Have fun! Also, drawing 3d on a computer is NOT easy. Think about polygons. Millions and millions of them. Its a tedious job my friend. So what for 6 years? GT4 came out in 2004. Two years were wasted because there was no PS3 (PS3 came out in '06). So technically they only had 4 physical working years and two brainstorming years. Let's all just hope PD will be nice and patch these up And trust me, I as born in Japan, they people there are nice and kind and warm-hearted.

Hahahahah calm down, the game is not bad at all, I dont like some changes they done from 4 but not even the standard cars look that bad when you're driving, before I got the game from what I was reading on this forum they were horrendous.....
And yes the PS3 did come out 4 years ago, but developers have had the kit to make games for it since early 2005, otherwise there would have been no launch titles.

Now tell me, do you think Kaz would have liked the developer Kit to use for GT5 or wait until he can use 100% of PS3's power?

yes i am not happy with it no test track, mini coopers are made in germany instead of great Britain thats what the logo says i guess its a glitch, cant remove most of the hud in the game screen, my tv isnt a 50 inch lcd panel so obviously i have to zoom in with r1 every time i wanna read something and even that doesnt help much, the rain does actually look bad as ive noticed, overall most original tracks have been remved, lambos sound and handle like junk, game menues are too simplified that it makes it confusing, when you arent qualified for a race type it doesnt tell you qualification specs wtf is the point of adding a whole maker with only one car in dealership? should just put it in the used car lo. replaced special events from rally to some quick races which dont last as long and earn u a lot of cash. speaking of cash not sure even if u can do a race win a car sell it clear race data and rewin that car again for profit like in previous game. no bugatti dealership...leaves me wondering if the car is even in the game

I'm thoroughly disappointed that there aren't any zombies in this game.
I mean, come on! Every game including CoD: Black Ops has zombies. Why not GT5!
Epic Fail PD!

Pre-Order. Canceled.

</sarcasm>

Yeah, I am as disappointed as most with all things brought to attention. Its sad really! Painting cars is the absolute most idiotic thing I have ever heard of, that guy needs a brisk slap in the face! Standard cars thing, sucks!! SUCKS!! SUCKS!!

I am heart broken POLYPHONIC DIGITAL! It really sucks what we're going to hear from the $h!TBox fanboys. Forza 2 and 3 really are better is some respects, which SUCKS SUCKS SUCKS!!

I bought a PS3 when it came out only for this game. Last year It was stolen. I guess I am getting old because I am not as interested in gaming anymore. However I was prepared to buy another PS3 just for GT5. Then I played a friends copy for two days. I am extremely disappointed. Not a xbox fan but Forza seems so much better. The driving physics are amazing but that is about it with GT5. 6 years for this game is a joke. You can remove my name from the Gran Turismo Fan list.

^ Another thing that's junk is your use of capital letters and spelling. Read the AUP. Well obviously, you need a bigger TV, why didn't you get one on Black Friday? Get one on Boxing day. Also, Mini's originate from the U.K. from the 60's (I think). Also, tell me, does any other racing simulator have as much of a sophisticated and enhanced rain as GT5? Next time you race in the rain, look behind you on the rear window and side windows.

Considering some of the exact same bugs/problems that were in GT4 are still in this version, yeah, I'm disappointed. Instead of fixing things, they slap a new coat of paint on it and start building a new wing.

When this game is touted as the ultimate driving sim, how then can you still neglect to put power/weight stats for some of the cars? I have no idea how powerful (or competitive) this Ferrari is, but luckily I know that the VW Kubelwagen is 22 horsepower of Premium awesomeness. It's stuff like this that tells me that even Polyphony isn't trying to fully prove the "ultimate driving sim" tagline and going towards the "we've got it" one instead.

Fortunately, the physics are excellent, and the AI does at times have a very life-like realism to it. But there are those times when both the physics and AI defy all logic and feel almost cartoony. The '62 Buick Special comes to mind. I could be mistaken about the cars stats, but I find it odd that it handles so much better than my 458 Italia.

However, I keep finding myself switching the game back on. I'm just not sure if it's because I'm having fun or I'm convincing myself that it will get better.

Mini's are German, BMW makes them, I take it you tried to race one in the British Lightweight event? That one duped me as well

The Buick is actually a tuned version of the original. It won the GT awards at SEMA in 2003. Its a Buick with a Ford super engine and Ford racing parts in it. I also think that it was made by Chip Foose.

ALSO, MINIS ARE BRITISH. THEY ORIGINATED IN BRITAIN THUS BEING BRITISH. SAME DESIGN SINCE THE ORIGINAL ONE.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mini_(BMW)
Py attention to read where they're designed.

As tempted as I am to run out and buy a PS3 just for this game, I think I'll give it at least a month or two and see what the downloadable content has to offer.

I will get it sooner or later, but for now I'm just a little under-whelmed by the number of new cars and tracks on offer, as well as little things such as not being able to customise HUD elements.

They're built by BMW and they own all the patents for the Mini, they're German unfortunately.

I have one major problem with the game: the prize cars.

What am I going to do with a 15HP fiat, a 20 HP Z ACT, a 45HP VW jeep thing, and a Mini cooper that I won in the mini cooper division!

very disaponted I like GT3 and especialy GT4 much more:grumpy:

-the AI is the worst AI I ever raced against in a racing game for the PS3 even worst than any need for speed game - they just act like youre not there - if you spin and someone hits you try pressing the breaks - they will just keep pushing you like you are invisible or something they dont even try putting on reverse and go around
- the shadows are horrible
- the standard cars seem like they are rendered in the PS2 in fact I think they loked better in GT4
- the sound is terrible
- Im on level 18 and no damage on the cars whatsoever
-the track list is very disaponting - I liked the new GT4 tracks a lot especialy el capitan and what did we get in exchange - two oval tracks? the nascar 2011 is coming out soon and it looks much better than the nascar in this game but for those who like driving around in circles

the handling is very good thats for shure but theres also an issue with the force feedback - in roma for example in GT3 I could feel the change of the track from tarmac to the road made of blocks in this GT I cant feel the diference - and sometimes I feel the rumble strips and other times theres nothing - no feeling at all - its like they rushed that too and didnt have time to program the force feedback in every little part of the circuits

I play with a DFGT by the way

very disapointed

Yeah, that's what I meant by not fully knowing the modifications done to the car. It just seems strange (and to me, cartoony) how well it handles. It's almost as if a different physics model is applied to it.

Your quote is wrong, read the wiki article. ANYWAYS, let's get the thread back on topic here.
you're getting muddled up with brand and owner. Like an Infiniti G35 is Japanese, not American. But yeah, back on topic. One major disappointment was a 'standard' Veyron

I cant be the only one? If the game had come out 2 years ago then fine, great, crackin game but what have they been doing for 3 years plus?
Where is qualifiying? Whats with the standard cars and lack of mods?
Did they realy think we wouldnt want to do a standing start at the top gear track? And where is the Nurburgring?
Why so much ephasis on b spec? Who buys Gran Turismo to watch someone else race?

On the plus side, engines sound a load better and she still drives perfect

In part yes, but overall no. I'd give this game an 11/10

But I know what you mean, I really don't get the standard cars thing. Especially with the cockpit view. Sure have standard cars, 1000 cars is a lot. But at least let us have cockpit view with the big details and not every single detail yet, just so we can have it. I hope they have updates so that more cars are made premium cars.

And yeah, why don't they let us do a standing start on the TG track? We want to test cars they haven't tested and we want to see how close we are to The Stig with cars they have. Why can't we just have the option to do either a rolling or standard start on ALL tracks?

The Nurburgring is in there. Both the GP circuit and the other name that also starts with N but is even more confusing to spell.

Is there really a lot of emphasis on B-spec? Shows how much I pay attention, but yeah, no one buys GT for B-spec primarily

These Forums are so funny. Its good to see so many people so passionate about games. I think the game is great, my 8 year old son thinks it is the best thing ever, I have a full race sim cockpit and most race sims, and guess what, he wants to play Gt5. And its because there is stuff to do and his words " it actually teaches me how to drive" I have a few sports cars and take them to trackday, so far Gt5 is the closes thing to driving a real car from the conmfort of my mancave:) And for me that is the most important part of a race sim " oh yea and mechanical damage, hope its good when its patched:P" I'm sure some will want to say that I'm wrong, but guess what i don't care:) Do we really need 10 or more different main topics talking about how the game is no good? and hardly anyone is talking about driving the cars. They are talking about skin deep problems that for the most part don't effect the driving experience, apart from mechanical damge:P. oh i cant change rims , i cant paint my car what ever colour i want blahblah. I would be more upset if people where saying the cars handle like they do in forza, or that the tracks didn't have the actual road bumps, Road cambers and other imperfections like so many other racing games don't have. But for the 77$ i spent i think i will get my moneys worth and then some:)
So word to the wise. Why wont someone think of the children, who will tell them that the sun does not revolve around the earth.

👍 Could not have described the game better. You have agree though, it is the best GT to date. Work in progress, but still the best.

I personally would rather not have standard cars at all, they were made long time ago for the previous generation of consoles. They have got to retire already. Yes there are missing tracks, (lots of them), and we can't do part of a long race in B spec anymore.... We didn't get some promised feautures like youtube uploader and telemetry... What angers me the most is I feel that they have held back on features so when they come out GT6 on PS4, they can have more selling points.... Another problem is that Sony did heck of a job of marketing the thing and it made our measuring sticks really long... if you know what I mean.

wrong thread

this one is called is anyone else disappointed....
and not - anyone elses kids think the game is great

why not start your own topic on that subject and leave the people trying to get the message across to PD so that they can improve the (so much hyped for nothing) game - is good for us we get a better product and its good for sony they sell more consoles and games in the future

Apart from mechanical damage AND AI. But to answer your main question about having multiple topics on what people don't like about the game, yes we do need them because it's an open forum where people come to discuss their views about GT, or maybe you'd like everyone to bury their head in the sand and praise GT5?
