Funny thing about GT5 is that you've actually got more limitations than in real life.

Am I the only one who thinks GT5P is more fun then GT5?
I love spending time tuning the car to meet performance point requirement and racing it online
I love improving my time attacks by microseconds in order to gain a place in the leader-board.
You just don't get that in GT5, at least not yet. I hope we will get that in DLC.
Don't get me wrong, 1000+ cars is great, but gt5p online experience are better.
I love PD, i love PS3, i love Japan, i bought the PS3 because it is from Japan. Yepp, im a patriot. So it really hurts that i know that theres a other game out there thats done a lot of things better than GT5. (Not all, but still)
I don't care about official dates. When something is announced in 2006 but all you get is hot air for 4 years, that is a long wait.
Would quarterly releases of DLC, (say 2 tracks, 5 cars, 5 events) for GT5P achieved a better result....
Okay - here is a question for you that I have been wondering - is some of the game design differences reflective in GT5 vs. Forza 3 due to cultural differences between Japanese and USA game developers?
I just don't understand the thought processes behind a lot of the decisions made by the GT5 development team, things that seem very "gamey" for a "driving simulator" - is there a cultural mindset that I'm not getting?
the force feedback through the wheel seem a generation behind other games I've played.
.
You lost all credibility with this remark IMO. Game has issues, its handling, physics with a wheel are NOT one of them. no Other game on console is even close.
I played all GT's................................................................ Works fine for me, dont have any issues like you do.I bet its the first GT you play
the handling is very good thats for shure but theres definitly an issue with the force feedback - in roma for example in GT3 I could feel the change of the track from tarmac to the road made of blocks in this GT I cant feel the diference - and sometimes I feel the rumble strips and other times theres nothing - no feeling at all - its like they rushed that too and didnt have time to program the force feedback in every little part of the circuits
I play with a DFGT by the way

Gotta have some saving grace... The handling and being able to use a decent wheel are the only things keeping me playing..
.. Before switching the f'n thing off again through boredom or frustration at the multitude of idiotic design decisions that plague this game.
IGN were right. 10/10 racer in a 5/10 game.
Don't care much about graphic glitches, standard/premium or rims (incidentally, why tell me about light weight rims improving handling when you don't tell me how much weight I lose or gain?).
Sort out a car classification system, let me choose if I want weather OR day/night in arcade, let me test drive before purchase, make the upgrade/tuning system on par with a year old 'inferior' game, don't make me wait for cars to appear in the used car showroom, sort out the crash dynamics and sound effects, fix the AI, let me choose arcade race opponents, lose the 2ft invisible box on the front of my car in bumpercam view etc, etc... I could go on, but I'm sure you've heard it all before.
There's a great game hiding behind a wall of poo. Sometimes the sun manages to peek through a crack, but moments later I'm overpowered by the stench once more.
If you're happy, I'm happy for you. But a lot of people aren't, and for damn good reasons.
I played all GT's................................................................ Works fine for me, dont have any issues like you do.
Some people are surely over exaggerating and simply have too high expectations for a game. Also, many of you clearly do NOT know the slightest thing about the difficulties of development, especially a game as complex and big as GT5. it has issues, but at the end of the day, no game on the market is as thrilling using a wheel driving a car, every bump, every slip can be felt. despite flaws game is awesome IMO. Just patch the damage already.
well maybe Im just a perfectionist but when I go over a rumble strip I like to have rumble on the wheel and sometimes I do some other times it just makes the rumble sound - and if thats not missing something in force feedback than excuse me
and because some people can tell the diference between a finished and an unfinished product - well . will just keep on getting half quality stuff for the full price
but Im not the one thats right here - you are - if you can enjoy it without FFB thats great I envy you - to be able to be that happy about nothing - but I guess Im not that lucky
where do you think those expectations came from?
It's a great game and has some truly remarkable features, but I can't help feeling like I've played this exact same thing before.
FFb works fine, not one site anywhere else from driving enthusiast has even mentioned this. As for unfinished, name one racer with as much content and driving styles as Gt5? All games have issues, despite that there is more then enough content to justify 50 bucks. If you have that attitude, not one single game is finished, all games get patched today. You obviously are oblivious to how difficult making a complex, big game like Gt5 is. Getting each car alone to handle as realistic as they do would take years.
please before you continue to say something stupid like the FFB is fine - do yourself a favor - try and go over every kerb on - lets say the ring - and try to go from the tarmac in rome to the block road (remember rome in GT3 - did you have a wheel then?) and if it is still fine with you than we can continue this conversation and you can tell me what Im doing wrong - shouldnt I have selected simulation for the wheel setings? or something - but please try it first
Gamers, media.
Would you call GT5 perfect?

This is in no way intended to be a bash/insult of Japanese vs. USA cultures - I'm just wondering if people in Japan "get" this game better than everyone else seems to?
I dont really know how to answer that. lol... Maybe from my point of view but thats just what it is..MY point of view.
In Asia, if your doing/making something you better do it perfect. No room for flaws, details and everything is gotta be 110%. Other is consider a fail. Not saying others have lower goals/standards or expectations but this is how it is in Asia.
I think this is where Standard vs Premium comes in to play. The premium ones are the real vision of Kaz while the other cars are simply added to make it look good. 1000 cars sounds better than 300 right? I think GT5 tried too much, which takes the focus of the things that was made perfect. NASCAR and WRC for example,,, was simply added for EU and US customers.
I THINK that they would rather have relesed GT5 with EVERY car being premium, or ONLY the premium ones but had too incorporate more cars by Sony demands.
Course maker is also a nice feature, but isnt made to that premium car level of standard.
"Gamey" things in the game...hmm i dont know what you´re talking about exactly but i think that certain things was made to appeal not only the hardcore racer, even the 10 year old with a new car interest would be able to feel comfortable with.
Forza on the other hand is a car game for everyone. In my opinion nothing in Forza is perfect but instead almost everything are pretty good. GT5 is the opposite...some things are perfect, some things were not no good.
500 diffrent Skylines isnt really aiming at the US market i suspect, i know theres some Japanese car fans over there or what you guys call "JDM/Imports) but the most of you wont even notice a diffrence between so many Skylines. The Skyline wasnt even avaliable in a lot of countries so whats the point of having so many of it...So this is aimed at the Japanese market clearly.
IF PD was a EU based company there might have been 500 diffrent Audis instead, a version with S line. A version with ABT package. A version with the facelifted rear lights. A version with new set of colors. A version with 19 inch exclusive rims. etc You get the point.
Forza dont have 500 diffrent Skylines but theres other cars thats avaliable that cant be found in GT5. Some are obvious to be in a racing game that GT5 simply missed.
SO basically...
PD:
Make GT5 PERFECT (60% of the game) the rest is to fill demands.
Turn10:
Make Forza GOOD/VERY GOOD (80% of the game)
I might be gone a little bit offtopic i just wrote what came up in my mind. =) And pointing out this is only my thoughts. I have no proof what so ever of any of this.
