Is the Barracuda Back?

That's not particularly true since we know that the Viper will be a SRT only vehicle.

Disgusting. They should not crap all over the Cuda by making a new one, and with Plymouth no longer in existence no less.

However, if they do make one and it follows the trend of new revisions of old body styles, I'll probably Not Bad it if it's based off of the '71 model and they get it all right. There should be some legal reasons blocking them from using the Cuda name though, with Plymouth having been dissolved.

Yeah like the Austin MINI... Disgusting. :P

SRT is making its own cars now they no longer have to have a base modle varient there are still under the Dodge/Fiat umbrella but alot of the restaints of old have been revised or done away with

So far as I know, Chrysler Corporation could still use the name Barracuda, since Plymouth was a part of their company.

Also, the 1970 version was the best looking. That's a fact.

your opinion not mine they are sports cars and they are muscle cars depends on the version you get my freind.

Keep telling yourself that.
Look up what a sports car is and realize the camaro isn't one.

Nooo! Keep the Challenger!
They've actually done a much better job keeping to the original style of the Challenger than ANY of the other baby boomer muscle cars.

Then so is the Boss 429, because that has an even bigger engine than the GT500. If you consider the GT500 a muslce car, their are countless other high performance Mustangs that have bigger engines than what that had in it.

The GT500 is a muscle car, just cause it's got a big engine with tons of power. Lesser mustangs are cruisers.

These are cruisers?

I find modern mustangs are one of the most popular track day cars. Close to M3's in terms of popularity.

I wouldn't say it's a muscle car either, it's a sports car. But hey, maybe I'm biased.

There's a new boss429?

The old one. Implying that you were talking about the old GT500's. Because this looks like a cruiser:

Cruisers? How would you define that?

I'm not trying to sound sarcastic. Genuinely curious. :)

Yes, the 1970 one sorry, I can never remember if it's the '70 or '71 that I like.

Also, I found this article from some years back that claims 'someone' contacted Chrysler about a new cuda and they got this reply:

We are pleased to read of your interest in the Chrysler Cuda concept vehicle. At this time, DaimlerChrysler has not released any plans that indicate the future production of the Chrysler Cuda. If built, The Chrysler Cuda concept vehicle would be built on the same platform as the upcoming 2008 Dodge Challenger, and would be production ready around the same time. We encourage you to stay in touch with the Chrysler.com website as well as your local Chrysler dealerships for future product updates.

Building it off of the Challenger platform makes sense, but I hope it would have sharper lines and look less kardashian (obese), and maybe find a way to do something that no companies do anymore - put chrome bumpers on it, enough chrome to look like the '70 model, but not enough to look tacky.

The red concept cuda in the article has a nice rear on it, but still needs work.

there is a boss 302 not 429
at least thats all I know about and as for the shelby you need to drive a 2011 gt500 or 2012 gt500 before you mistake that car for being just a musclecar or crusier

Big body, comfortable seats, soft enough suspension, adequate power. This car is a perfect highway cruiser.

Does anyone else wonder why the newer Charger ended up with 4 doors?

The first chargers, option package for a dodge dart, were offered in 4dr and coupe. The new one is a 4dr likely cause dodge needed a 4dr family car and not a coupe.

Ah okay. I can agree with that if the car is left stock. I've put a set of Konis and 275s all around, summer tires mind you, and the cars handling has significantly improved. But it still has retained that "cruiser" ability. Hell I think the thing rides more comfortably with the Konis versus the stock suspension. :yuck:

i guess the question is can a cruiser handle the duties of being a sports car ?
I think the answer is yes JMO

What summer tires?

And that isn't too unusual for Koni's to make a car ride a bit better than OEM, at least if paired with stock springs.

Michelin Pilot PS2s

Its paired with Steeda sport springs. It is stiffer naturally but the quality overall is better. It's a good balance.

According to a report on Allpar, not only is an SRT-branded Barracuda going to replace the Dodge Challenger sometime around 2014-2015, but it'll be be the first vehicle to sport a supercharged HEMI engine. The engine in question is said to be a 6.2-liter V-8 instead of the new 6.4-liter V-8
Our source told us the supercharged V-8s would put out approximately 540-570 horsepower and would use a twin-screw supercharger kit.

Sounds like it would be gunning directly for the ZL-1.

Yep. The current Challengers, though they are aesthetically similar to the older Challengers of the muscle era, don't quite perform like the ZL-1 or even the SS.

And I have no doubt they'll make the Barracuda look current yet classic just as they've done with the Challenger. :)
