Rumor has it the Challenger and Charger are supposed to get 570hp. If that's the case, we can maybe expect to see the Barracuda this potent.
The upcoming re-launch of the SRT Viper (formerly a Dodge Viper, of course) may be dominating the fast-Mopar coverage to date, but that super-coupe may turn out to represent just the tip of the iceberg. Automotive News is reporting that multiple Dodge performance products are likely to hit American streets over the next three years.
Perhaps most exciting are the prospective plans for the Challenger in 2014 and 2015. The muscular coupe is likely to get a significant bit smaller for the 2015 model year, with two or three inches set to be removed from its now-generous 116-inch wheelbase, as well as having launch control added to the specification sheet.
The upcoming SRT-tuned version of the Challenger, today the SRT8 model, may very well be dubbed the "Dodge Barracuda" for 2015. The resurrected 'Cuda will feature a supercharged 6.2-liter V8, which we are strongly in favor of. And though Dodge isn't offering up any output numbers for such a mill, current competitors from Ford (Shelby GT500) and Chevrolet (Camaro ZL1) would seem to indicate that 500 horsepower is the bare minimum for entry into this market slice.
In the nearer term, look for a new Daytona performance version of the Dodge Charger to appear in the first part of 2013, along with an SRT4 tune for the new Dodge Dart around the same time.
Yeah, they're not deleting the Challenger, they're gonna call the SRT version of the car "Barracuda."
Renderings are almost always off in left field.
really tell that to the camaro, new vette, challanger, magnum, new acura nsx among other cars

Are you sure you're not thinking of concepts?
Renderings are just whatever some artist things it might look like. There's nothing to even remotely suggest what the Barracuda will look like, even if it exists, which it might not. Yes there's a test mule floating around but it could just as easily be for the Challenger replace or it could just be testing some new tech.
ok whatever think what you want
as for the C& vette please see here

. It's almost as absurd as RocZX saying in the other thread that the Challenger was being killed and the Barracuda was replacing it as an SRT only model. Just because you read it in a magazine doesn't make it so.
So you saying that not to believe everything is 100% true when you read a article?
How is it that the article that I bring up is not true but the one you post is 100% correct and completely true? Explain that to me.
The only pics yours has is of a 2011 Challenger SRT and it has nothing to do with the new model.Because one makes no business sense at all. The other is later down the line, backed up with some pictures, and acknowledges what Chrysler is doing with the SRT brand. At no point have I said that one was 100% correct, but one is definitely out of left field, and the other is more in line with the changes we know are coming in the SRT lineup.
MotorAuthorityJust a few weeks back we presented the argument for keeping both in the product line, but the latest update from seems to indicate that the Barracuda will replace the Challenger. The decision likely wont be based on sales, but rather on meeting ever-tightening CAFE requirements.
Yeah, sure. They'll just remove a decently selling car on a platform that's being developed well that will make no worse MPG ratings than the charger. Again, part of having critical thinking skills is knowing when something you're reading is stupid and out of left field, and when it might have some merit. The new article you linked has a lot of stuff that makes sense, but I find it weird that they'd want to rename the entire line after having just recently brought back the Challenger.
They are not Replacing the Challenger. They are only Replacing the SRT Challenger....

The camaro is not sports car.
The challenger is a good GT car, if you get the auto. That's about it. It's pretty slow, even the 392, the steering is pretty bad/dead/numb, brakes are crap.
Mustang isn't a muscle car.
