I've seen a couple NC miatas in a few different places. All were driven by men.

@DrkPhnyx @ImaRobot Continuing to argue literally one post after a mod. Now THAT's wise.

I'd try to keep this civil, because chances are @Terronium-12 has his eye on you. I'm not a mod, nor am I pretending to be one. Just a friendly warning. :)

I'm being as civil as I feel I need be. Like @Terronium-12 said, if you feel there is a problem with the post, please use the report button. If he feels it he will let us know, and when he does I'll be sure to cut it out.

And now I'm closed minded? Good lord

You happen to be the perfect example of the saying "ignorance is bliss"

The fact that you think you made any kind of point against me is funny. The only thing you've proven is that you live and breath stereotypes. You use one I bring down one car but defend against one and say trucks are manly. Trucks only seem manly to people that feel the need to prove something. I'm saddened to see that we share a common interest.

I knew that would get to you. But it's true. I could pick you apart 6 ways from sunday on your posts, and with each one you make it easier and more evident (and bad reflection on you). But... this thread isn't about you and your unfortunate sensitivity issues. So, I won't. Not here. I'll do everyone a favor and not derail the thread like that. If you want to go there, use PM, or open a new thread in the proper place for it, tag me, and I'll be there. But do us all a favor and cut the OT stuff here (in favor of more appropriate places)....if you can.

I'd ditch the wing and fill in the body kit behind the front fender, but it's a cool concept.

Shades of Ferrari with the lights and color combo.

Totally. It looks mean/aggressive. It's only reason for being is to go quickly around corners. It's not practical, and mid-engined to boot. Sort of like how a white w/Red interior 4-cylinder auto mustang is more girly than the v6 f-body, because it's easier to live with and drive around just to look good in. Like the Miata is vs the Elise.

Fixed that 👍

Who buys an NC MX5 to look good in while driving? :odd: :P
Ease of operation? Yes
More room than an Elise? Yes
More masculine name than Elise? Yes
Cheaper to buy and cheaper overall running costs? We'll need to ask MX5 and Elise owners about that one.

Who? Girls who want to be seen in something that is cute and sporty. The inaccessibility of the Elise is what makes it more hardcore, and less girly. Think about it, it covers you up more, is harder to live with, is less practical.... are girls going to flock to it? No, only gearheads (by and large, guys). ;)

So, the Elise fits like women's garments. M ore like those skin tight black dresses women love so much, while wearing platform stilettos. At a 400m relay. In the Olympics. I see...

But then... Hey, the NC does look more like a bathtub. Add Some epsom salt, tea lights...

On topic. I'd say the NA is more "Mia" & "Tia" than the NC.

I'm a huge truck guy and I am in the truck scene and no one feels the need to prove anything they just like how they look.

Skin tight dresses show off their bodies. Heels make them taller/more noticable and shape their legs and butts for better showing off. Being obscured by a car, especially one that is hard to live with, doesn't fit the paradigm. :) Especially when it's hard to get in/out of with pants on, it'd be impossible in tight dresses. ;)

Bar of soap.

I honestly don't think it's girly and even if it is; it shouldn't matter. I find stereotypes to be silly and choose the ignore them when looking at a car. For when I actually go buy a car, all I'm going to care about is will I be happy in it. Basically, just get the MX-5 if you want it.

I haven't read the whole thread, nor will I, because I know the kind of arguments it'll contain lol. My 2c: Standard? yes it's a bit of a girly car. Do I think men shouldn't own one? Absolutely not, there are tons of ways to make it a great driver's car, and I'm sure there are plenty of body kits that make it look more aggressive.

As a semi-self conscious teenager and owner of a NB Miata, I can say that I have never felt "feminine" saying I own a Miata. Yes, I've thought about if I would look girly driving one, but when I'm actually driving it that isn't even a thought. It's a blast flooring it and getting up into the 6k rpm range, even if some people call it a girls' car. Although the styling is somewhat girly stock, it really just takes a wheel change and lowering to fix that.

Only if it is pink or perhaps yellow.

I personally like the MX-5 quite a bit just not in those colors :)

That said most, perhaps all of the MX-5s I have saw in this area are driven by females.

I get people want to debate about the miata, fine..but why are you guys picking on trucks and trying to claim who/what they are for??

Last I checked, trucks are for hauling stuff, and towing.

Oh and miatas are for a girl, guy, sissy, macho, cat, or dog. Who doesn't plan on hauling or towing anything.

Everything in terms of what is girly or isn't, should always be within the eyes of the beholder. So drive what you want.

.

Type the words you want to use as a link in your post like this:

One of the best members of GTPlanet is 05XR8.

Open what you want to link to in a second tab, left click to highlight the web address and right click to copy it to clipboard.

Go back to your post and use the mouse to highlight the word you want to link to, in this case 05XR8.

Once it's highlighted, press the button I noted up above, and paste the address on the clipboard into the space and you're done.

You end up with this. 05XR8

Thanks for all the comments guys!

It's amazing to see so much comments and to read them. I decided I am going to buy a NC when the weather gets better and have a blast this summer. It will be my first own car, so no longer the boring car of my parents. ;)

Well,

My boyfriend had several proper 'testosterone' cars the last 20 years. Though and masculine cars like a 80's BMW 3-series coupe, Toyota Corolla coupe (not the Levin, but like this one) and the AW11 Mr2. He never get noticed by girls that much.
Then he sold his AW11 and bought a small city car. A Seat Arosa...small funny car and good enough to do the home-work journey's.. didn't care anymore about the 'girl/boy' car nonsense. He actually got attention right away.. Girls loved the mini-Seat. His next (and partly my own) car, was an overload of 'girlyness'.

But the fact is, it was an amazingly good car, very good interior and then he got lots of attention by female collegae's. So in that sentence, men who want to show their cars (and other stuff) to a woman and want some attention...they have to switch to more girly cars... And we, women, will get more room to switch to more masculine cars :D

Or buy yourself a Chiwawa.
