Is there any point to that car wash?

My FGT has over 20000 miles of driving on it and it is dirty but after a nine hour endurance race it does lose alot of the dirt it accumulated during the race.

I think it's less of an actual "wash" and more of a wax'n'polish, as the car seems shinier after it? Or is that my imagination?

Yes could someone post a pic of a dirty car that's not in the race, and then a pic of it clean. Whenever I think a car is dirty I take it to the car wash and look at it before I wash it and try and find a few spots that look like dirt, then after I wash it I can never tell if it did anything lol.

I have still not seen anyone claiming they accumulate dirt post any pics showing this. My experience is they do not accumulate anything and the car wash is completely pointless.

I have taken a screen shot before and after washing my fgt after using it in a 24 hour race and I could not tell the difference.

I always wash the cars I buy from the Used Car Dealership. It makes them look cleaner and shiny reflections will appear. It doesn't make sense that they aren't clean when you buy them used but it does make sense to wash them if you just collect them for the garage.

My 2-1/2 year old son enjoys watching the car wash animation.

TBH, he's getting a little too obsessed with it, and it's biting into Dad's driving time...

Hehe my cat also enjoys it and the guy on the oil change creeper.

Don't You just guys enjoy washing and polishing and changing oil after thrashing Your car? Dont You guys do it in real life? Except its, well gaming-wise, pointless, i always feel like doing it to my precious 'car-im-using-at-the-moment' ;) i know i might have something wrong going on with my head though :P:P

That car wash is just pointless. It would be so much better if the car keep the dirt on it, and the tires would really wear out and you have to buy another set. These seem so simple things to do, so i wonder why not pd, why not?

I don't think the "dirt" carries over visually after the race. I've run my Formula GT and X2010 in the 24hr races in b-spec multiple times now and havent washed them in a long time. They will be very dirty looking towards the end of the race, but as soon as I get back to the menu, they look clean.

For anyone who says they do actually get dirty and carry over, please post a photomode picture (not in race) that shows a dirty car.

You are all too focused on whether you can see the dirt, and may be missing the point. You can't see any damage after a race. You can wreck your car, and it will be magically restored by the next race. You will not see any damage, but the car could need the chassis repaired. Just because you don't see it, doesn't mean it's not there.

Car washes, it's for car lovers only. You guys don't know love like PD knows love and dedication.

If there were REAL love and dedication, then the dirt would accumulate at real world speeds (like ONE race in a rally, or on a wet track) and that the dirt would quickly affect engine cooling and brake efficiency. This just seems like lip service to love...

BTW, anyone with some REAL WORLD figures about whether the car wash affects top speed or aerodynamics? Ought to be easy to test. Take a filthy car, do a few laps at Indianapolis, get fastest lap time. Wash. Rinse and repeat!

Any change?

It's there so that you get really angry at the horrible loadtime while you wait to get it done.
GTAUTO is so userfriendly, i can't wait to have to go there next time.

On a related note, why does GT Auto exist at all, other than to eat precious resources and waste our time? Aero parts, wheels, and race mods could (and should) be found in the tune shop, and the wash and oil change is just kind of silly IMHO. That would just leave paint, which could be moved to an actual paint area with more features related to painting.

The Toyota GT-1 is the best example, after endurance races on the ring, even in gt auto garage there are dull areas in the paint near the wheel wells that are very noticable. If you look at that car during an enduro race it gets nasty. The car wash definately makes a difference for that car as after ward the dull area are shiny again.

A friend of mine did the 24H of LeMans with the X1 with rain on almost all the race, and needed to wash the car.
It was the Red Bull Livery but looked like the Prototype.
LoL
Edit:
I think that the car only get dirty on the rain.
Because how I said the race was on the rain, and today when I was going to Gt Life, I stoped to watch those videos, and there was a race on the SSR5(I think) with rain, and a F430 in the race was very dirty, and a little strange, but happened a Ferrari California without the roof, on the rain.
I think that pilot don't like the car.

Just because you don't see it, doesn't mean it's not there.
The dirt washed off at the car wash is invisible? Hey maybe there are other features in the game we thought were missing are actually just invisible like realistic damage.

I am still waiting for someone to post pics showing a dirty car out of a race.

Why is GT auto slower than my gran in a Lada? When I wanna change oil I don't wanan see some gimp go under it on a trolley and the oil glug out and then some random orange and yellowy orange colour oil go back in! Just say it's changed. The one thing that has bugged me in all previous GTs is how slow menus load and how long it takes to navigate from one menu to another, homepage etc. It's exactly the same in this one. The user interface is so user UN-friendly it's unreal. I should be able to select what car I wanna be in from wherever I want to. And go to tune if I'm at the A=spec choices of race straight from there and then straight back when I've bought the new tyres I'ved needed. Absolutely pathetic it is!

The point is, the dirt may not have a graphical representation, but it may be a small performance parameter. The chassis damage is invisible, but it affects performance.
